Richards Kitchen is a gem. A classic example of a chef working his own place offering a small but interesting menu but where everything he does is fine well.
I had the lemon sole , just perfectly cooked with jersey royals and greens . Simple , but then it does not need to be anything more . M had the Pulled lamb, again just delicious.
We shared a cheese plate and a sticky toffee pudding.
Generous portions call round but the surprise was the stunning onion raspberry chutney, the best I’ve ever tasted , we took a small pot away as a gift
Richards Kitchen is worth the journey south if you are in London , you’ll pay a lot more for a lot less in some of the more swankey west end places

Great Local restaurant. No frills but delicious food perfectly cooked. Fish soup was so tasty and portion size sensible with lovely fresh bread and butter. Cod with crumb crust and samphire was cooked to perfection and accompanying sauce delicate but flavoursome. Steak/ duck I am told we’re equally delicious and they certainly looked good. Sticky toffee pudding had a lovely hint of burnt edge and was not overly sweet ( we all ate every scrap). A lovely sweet rescue ex racing greyhound was part of this restaurant establishment this evening . Richard took the trouble to talk to as did the one waitress who worked so hard to make sure everybody had what they needed . It was lovely to go to a non pretentious restaurant where the emphasis was on serving good honest food . We will definitely be returning soon.

Having walked past the restaurant a few times and looking at the menu (which changes regularly - sign of a great chef) we decided to book a table and give Richard's Kitchen a go.
We were welcomed warmly by Richard himself and he showed us to our table and handed us the menus, there were a few different options for starter, main and dessert and they all sounded amazing - so it wasn't an easy decision to make!
The food was well presented and absolutely delicious, I felt like I'd had some really top quality food and service for a very reasonable price. We both enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back.
P.S. The rosé was perfect on a hot day!

The menu is very limited which is fine if they have all the ingredients. I ordered the rib eye steak after having arrived at 7.30pm - last one had just gone!
We both then went for the artichoke soup followed by the chicken escalope.
The artichoke soup was very nice once seasoned properly - very bland to begin with.
My friends chicken escalope was pink when she cut into it, so she sent it back to be cooked properly.
Mine was OK until half way through and I bit into a very jelly like very underdone bit!! Not good.
In all fairness they made a completely fresh one and gave us a couple of glasses of wine each on the house. The Chef also came out and apologised - which was nice.
The sticky toffee pudding was excellent!
I really do expect more of an experienced Chef when cooking chicken however. It is basic stuff.

This is an excellent little gem with high quality food. It might feel a little off the beaten-track of Tooting (maybe that's a good thing) but its definitely worth finding. I had a delicious starter of prawns and chorizo, then a chickpea burger finished with a chocolate mousse pudding, all amazing. We met Richard and he and his team are incredibly friendly. I only marked it down slightly because we went at a quieter time and I bet the place is really buzzing when full.

Richards kitchen is an unassuming, quietly tasteful cafe/restaurant. This was our third trip and it did not disappoint. Had the full English breakfast at ÂŁ11 which is a fairly average price by London standards, but you certainly get value for money. Two huge butchers sausages, sliced steak (yes - steak in a fully) and the potato hash were the stand out performers. Everything cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Love this place and will be going back for sure. The time before we had rib eye steak for a reasonable ÂŁ17 and as usual it was spot on.

Home made real and high very high quality food in a small, almost cafe style restaurant. We shared the warm bread and olives before we ate because we were all starving. I had a game terrine to start with venison loin and celeriac main and chocolate roulade pudding. My son had a soup and his partner smoked trout for starter. All of it delicious and perfectly cooked. Small menu choice is nice and reflects the fact that the food is real and prepared and cooked to perfection on the premises.
Only one red wine available - decent Merlot. Will be back - simple choice of well out together, excellent food that’s been my best meal in a high end restaurant for a while.

We came across this little restaurant by chance and decided to see what it was like. Well, what a pleasant surprise ! I had pork with bubble and squeak and apple sauce . Absolutely delicious. My husband had mushrooms and spinach on sourdough toast and he said it was excellent. I liked the way Richard brought a carafe of water and glasses when we arrived. The prices were correct and the standard of cooking was superb. We shall return and try the puddings next time. The style of the furniture is shabby chic I suppose. Not to my taste particularly.

Every moment in the company of Richard was special. His tiny restaurant offers stunning, freshly prepared food with generous portions of warmth and friendly service. Between us we enjoyed four very different mains ranging from succulent steak to a vegetarian green Thai curry.
The culinary highlight for me was a starter with chorizo, black pudding and pork which was delicious. The menu changes regularly so there will always be new surprises to enjoy.
And whilst the food was outstanding, the welcome from everyone at Richard's is the greatest incentive to return.

Cosy and friendly restaurant.
The kitchen seems to be an "one men show" which adds to the beauty of the restaurant.
The food was (I just wished it had a bit less cream in the mushrooms and a better bread like sourdough), but I thinks that's juts my taste.
The portions were better then we usually get in London and I left satisfied.
I wish to go again because it seems like a petit restaurant we should support.
The staff was efficient and welcoming.
Almost homely atmosphere.

What a find Richards Kitchen is! Just a short stroll from Tooting Bec this small, busy restaurant serves up high quality food in a bustling, lively atmosphere reminiscent of Parisian pavement eateries.
Chef Brodie produced a succulent chicken and pistachio terrine and my steak was cooked to perfection with a good portion of proper chips!! Other diners enjoyed a varied and imaginative menu including a vegan tagine and hake in tomato sauce.
Service was good and an excellent Pinot noir complimented the food well.
Definitely a place to go if you like very good food at reasonable prices.

Chef Richard and his family have been cooking up a storm in their small but perfectly formed cafe/restaurant in Tooting Bec for many years, and will give you a warm welcome. A gem of a place that only locals tend to know about, children are made very welcome and the menu changes daily. We had one fuss pot who didn’t want anything on the children’s menu so Richard made spaghetti in tomato sauce just for him (what a saint!) The grown ups were wowed by starters of crab bisque and scallops, and wonderful roast beef and Yorkshire pud. My husband had the chicken with devils on horseback - we were very tempted by the trad desserts but were too stuffed! Very good and reasonable wine selection. The kitchen is visible from the tables and the boys were very interested in what was going on. We will be coming back again - six adults and three kids and the bill (with tip) was less than £200.

I brought my 2 (adult) children to Richard's Kitchen yesterday as they have now both moved to the Tooting area so this was a convenient place for 'the last supper'. We had a fantastic roast dinner with all the trimmings, all of which were beautifully cooked. Absolutely delicious and great value - would highly recommend. Love the Jazz music and the calm nature of the place and the staff were great. Thank you!

Extremely enjoyable fare, friendly and welcoming chefs and attendant. I had the melty hearty wild venison, creamy mash, crunchy broccoli spears, carrot, lip smackingly morrish red wine meat juice jus, refreshing fried celeriac shavings. Seductive flavours, a joy to eat. Followed by the opulence of a wonderful millionaire shortbread that you'll have to try for yourself, no spoilers on how lovely it was. I took another one home,I know I'm naughty.

I have lived just a few doors down from Richard's Kitchen since it opened but had only visited once (it was excellent then too.) Now I am leaving London as Covid has changed my circumstances so I have been doing something of a farewell tour of Tooting, visiting my favourite spots and local small business I didn't get to frequent as much as I may have liked.
Richard's Kitchen is a charming little cafe/restaurant where the menu changes regularly which always suggests a chef who is excited and passionate about food.
Today I came in for breakfast and had the eggs florentine (something I was weirdly craving for the duration of lockdown) and a cappuccino. The lovely waitress was warm and welcoming, and wore a mask during service which was comforting to me as I am someone who was on the shielding list.
The food was delicious and a real Sunday treat to myself.
I'm glad I was able to squeeze in a visit before I move out and once I am able to return to Tooting, I'm sure I will be back.
Don't miss it, you won't be disappointed!
