Llerena was born among holm oaks in the dehesa, under the name Jamón y Salud. This is a family business who has specialised for almost a century and four generations in Iberian pork products, especially in acorn-fed pork products. The Iberian tapas bar called Llerena is the place to try some of Extremadura's best food: roasted meats, the pungent, creamy Torta del Casar cheese and the finest jamón.

Recently ate here before a gig at the Assembly Hall. The place is tiny & was surprisingly busy for a Monday evening so it was a good job we had booked a table. The tables are extremely close together so you do feel on top of the next diners. There was only one waiter though which meant service was pretty slow as he was doing everything including all the bar work. The menu is pretty limited and a bit repetitive so some of the dishes we ended up with were a bit too similar. The wine menu is even smaller so there really wasn't a lot of choice. The food we had was tasty (although a bit too salty), all came out piping hot and the portion sizes were pretty decent too.

If you're not quite ready for dining out again after "Super Saturday", that's okay as you can still get your Spanish foodie fix with Llerena who are doing collection and delivery. I enjoyed trying out some of their hot and cold dishes. If you can't pick between all their yummy cured meats and cheeses, try the tabla mixta to get a selection of both. For those that have more adventurous tastes in cheese, give the Torta del Casar a try - you scoop out the soft insides with breadsticks. The cheese is slightly bitter from the wild thistle vegetable rennet - I found I'd eaten most of it whilst trying to pin down how to describe the mixture of flavours. I'm going to have to order another one to try again :)
I also enjoyed the ham and mushroom croquettes, which were creamy and delicately flavoured. The Secreto Iberico was a comforting dish of tender pork and potatoes. I'm also now a fan of the fig delights, which are chocolate coated with a praline centre. Yum yum!

Delicious authentic style tapas and very friendly staff. A fair price and the portion sizes are considerably more than other tapas bars in the area without comprising quality. The decor is also great. A really enjoyable evening, we will be back!

I’m not sure what all the fuss about this place is, but maybe I caught them on a bad day. On the plus side, the restaurant itself is small with a good atmosphere and style, there’s a decent range of options on the menu.
Beyond that, all three of the staff we encountered were very obviously disinterested. The waiter appeared to be trying to take our order using the minimum amount of speech possible.
Food was very slow to arrive, and although it’s expected that tapas food comes out in any order as it’s ready, it’s not ok to have some bread come out on it’s own, then 15 minute wait, then patatas bravas, then another 10 minute wait before other dishes start to arrive.
When we asked if our food was coming soon, the waitress answered that it was (it wasn’t), presumably via telepathy as she didn’t speak to the kitchen.
When the food came, she dropped some of the bread from the plate, said she would bring some more but didn’t.
I wish I could say the food when it arrived was worth the wait, but it’s pretty average so I probably won’t return to find out if this restaurant has a better side to it.

Amazing food, good quality ingredients, nice restaurant ambiance and location. Good value for money. 6 tapas with 2 glasses of wine and 2 desserts was under £90.00. Definitely recommended! We will be back.

We wanted a relaxed lunch with good food and Llerena delivered. The restaurant has a nice chilled out ambience with fresh, bright decor and attentive but low-key service. This makes it perfect for catching up with friends, but means it would be a very good option for solo dining.
The menu itself has plenty of choice, and includes all the tapas classics you want plus. Everything we picked was good quality and portions were generous. I’d say the tuna carpaccio special and prawn croquettas are worth singling out - really tasty.
Good food, good value, good service, nice atmosphere. Will return.

An amazing trip, meal and altogether lovely experience for me and my partner. We ordered a plate of Jamon (simply stunning!) and the beetroot salad which was beautifully presented. Next we had the grilled pork loin paired with the Rioja - the wine list here was intriguing and the waitress was extremely attentive and helpful despite it being quite busy. She suggested a lovely sherry which my partner and I enjoyed with the almond tart. Amazing all round! Give it a visit if you are on Upper Street!

Great experience. Good food and cozy ambience. What we loved was that the servers gave recommendations for the dishes to order and we thoroughly enjoyed all their recommendations.
Sangria was ok.
Of everything g we ordered, the lamb chops we found, were a bit bland, and the black squid ink rice. Other than than these, everything else was outstanding.

We just ate here today and we left so amazed by the food! We will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends and family. I think we found our new favourite Spanish local restaurant. Great atmosphere, delicious food, good quality at a reasonable price! We had a total of 6 tapas and 2 glasses of red wine for £90.

Stumbled into this place after a night out at off west end theatre with a friend and couldn't be happier we did - really excellent tapas with a very wide menu. The atmosphere and personnel are lovely (a personal shout out to Alberto, who I think is the owner or general manager and really made us feel at home) and they really make you feel like you've been tele transported to Spain. 100% recommend.

We were wandering around Islington London and happened upon this tapas restaurant. Excellent food and service. The tapas were tasteful and the wine pairings the server recommended were right on spot. Will eat here again on my next trip to London.

It’s difficult to find good Spanish tapas in London at a reasonable price. La Llerena does exactly that. The chef is Spanish and he shows it.
The pigs cheeks were exceptional, the other tapas are what you’d expect outside of Spain, smaller portions but delicious!
Will this ever reach the levels of a local Spanish restaurant in Spain? No, but it’s the closest I’ve experienced in London for the price!
Will return 100%
Gracias.

Amazing food and vibe. The selection of best cold cuts and cheeses was amazing, as was the cod with finger potatoes. The absolute star of the show was the tortilla, best I’ve ever had.
A well deserved 12.5% service on the bill, everyone was superb!
