My brother in law had a birthday here this week. There were party of 11 of us. Service and staff were great. The food was tasty but not very hot and we waited a little too long for it. The Rump steak my husband had was a little tough however the peppercorn sauce that accompanied it was divine which we... More

Invited to use restaurant as part of Sunday Night deal at hotel. Staff had not heard of it. Took a long time to establish what we could eat from what menu and if drinks were included. Staff had poor english. Very slow service - each course took at least an hour. Food either burnt - burger buns & steak edge... More

Went for Christmas lunch which was very good. Simple menu, good ingredients, fine wines and friendly staff. What more could you ask for on Christmas Day? Even the folk at the table next to us were good value. All in all a good choice.

The Xmas menu was excellent, the chicken liver, turkey and mousse I had were all excellent. The service was very good too, very atentive and friendly. Drinks were quite pricey, especially after dinner drinks i.e. Gin tonics, brandy etc. but you could expect this as you are in a hotel restaurant. I would definitely return next year again.

Lots of lovely food to choose from. Prosecco was great, as was service. The lady really was excellent and looked after our table. Would recommend

Arrived for a late lunch after a recommendation from a friend. A beautiful exterior with a clean, trendy interior. A classic British set menu delivered with excellent service, finished with a whisky at the bar. Great Sunday afternoon.

Dinner was lovely; I had the turkey from the seasonal fixed price menu and it was absolutely delicious. However the restaurant was so dimly lit I couldn't actually see half of the food on my plate - this was a bit off-putting. Might be worth increasing the lighting just a tiny bit so that people can see their food rather... More

Cool place. Really lovely. Cool staff and relax. It is not a Michelin star place and they don't want to be. Go there, have fun, bring good friends and enjoy. Cheap as chips

Everything was perfect! We did celebrate my mother's birthday and I am so glad to have chosen this place for this occasion. The staff made our evening perfect! The welcoming was very nice, the staff was smiling all night and the food was really good. The restaurant is very nice, with a nice music. I absolutely recommend this place to... More

Went for Sunday Lunch with a group of friends. Very slow service, we had to ask for everything multiple times. The starter buffet wasn't particularly well stocked and the main course beef portion was tiny. At least the beef itself was tasty. The roast veg was oily and almost raw, very under-done. Overall a disappointing meal.

A seductive and seriously sexy bar and brasserie based in the famous Charterhouse Square, the Malmaison Brasserie is beautifully chic and contemporary, with mood enhancing down lighting and a lively atmosphere. With the a la carte menu changing seasonally, the wholesome, modern British cuisine is always first class. Alongside a separate menu of locally produced food, the extensive wine list reflects the brassiere's 'serious about wine' culture and will indulge your every need. The laid back bar area is popular with business folk looking to chill out after work over a few beers and cocktails, whilst the restaurant offers plenty of cosy corners and nooks for private chats. The Malmaison Brasserie is also a great choice for groups with semi-private vaults and a fabulous private dining room overlooking the brasserie. Coupled with the friendly, knowledgeable serving staff, an evening here will undoubtedly be a huge success.

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
