I really feel for these little restaurants which are hidden away down side streets and really rely on the city trade so have suffered during lockdown.
My partner usually visits with friends but I had never been before but we visited twice over the Summer.
To begin with I wasn't particularly impressed as the decor/restaurant is nothing fancy but my partner raved about the food so was happy to go along. Totally agree that the food is wonderful though - especially as Indian restaurants can be a little hit and miss.
I had a king prawn biriyani and the king prawns were really large, proper king prawns. Don't think they were from frozen either. I was slightly concerned at the cooking of one of them so had left it as I thought it was slightly undercooked but the waiter spoke to the chef and confirmed it was the style of cooking and nothing to be worried about. Clearly they were correct as I had no upset tummy or issues! I believe they also offered us a free drink as a sorry for my concern but as I said, I agree it was unfounded now.
You could really see that they were trying to follow the rules with track and trace with their book and asking you to collect details and their wearing of masks etc. Again, I felt for them in comparison to the bigger chains etc who have the abilities to do the Apps and scanning of QR codes but they did everything required and also had hand sanitizer on entry.
On the next visit, some weeks later, everything was just as good and I ordered again the King Prawn Biriyani and it was perfect and the waiter came over to check it was cooked to my satisfaction as he had remembered us from the last visit and asked the chef to cook the prawns a little bit more! Excellent and surprising service as I am not sure how they remembered us!

The restaurant is located at India street, which is probably the best possible address for an Indian restaurant:)
The place is bright, modern and casually elegant. We ordered many dishes and everything was very tasty. The favorites were Tandoori prawns and lamb sashlik. Service was OK, however as few waiters were responsible for our table, it was not consistent. Especially one waiter was a bit annoying as it seems that before we expressed our needs, he beforehand had a solution for us to order a mixed platters, which was not our intention at all.
But despite this small handicap, all the rest - including attentive presence of the owner - was very good

I had a great meal here. Really tasty food - I could taste the individual spices in the light sauce - with cheerful helpful staff.
The place was buzzing with cheerful people, all enjoying themselves. Many seemed to be regulars who knew they were getting a high standard.

Me and my partner booked a table for 7:30pm. When we arrived, no one welcomed us, I was just stared at by all of the staff members. A member of staff looked at me and just said ‘2’, then started shouting to his boss in his native tongue and took us to a table. believe they thought we were walk ins as they didn’t even ask us any questions. Not even a ‘how are you?’.
As soon as we sat down a chutney tray was placed in front of us with two poppadoms and the staff member walked away. Not saying a word. We did not order this and there was no explanation of whether we had to pay or if it was complimentary. Thankfully it was complimentary.
When our food order was taken the staff member tried to upsell us side dishes and again was just very rude.
The food was okay. Really nothing special. After we finished our food one of the servers came and started to pull the table cloth off our table and we had to lift things up for him to take it away. He didn’t even tell us he was going to do it or ask us to lift our glasses he just came and started to fold it up whilst me and my partner were talking.
When asked if we wanted desert the server asked “desert - yes/no?” Again very impolite and rushed.
It felt like they couldn’t get us out of there fast enough. Well in fact, in total we were there for 40 minutes.
I would never go to this place again and would highly recommend people to avoid disappointment. It was insulting that they included a service charge on the bill
AVOID!

We visited on a Tuesday night and while fairly busy there were plenty of staff. Our starters arrived super fast (expensive, but tasty) along with 2 very large tables. And then we waited. Despite numerous requests we waited another 90 minutes and long past when these new arrivals had had starters and mains before our mains arrived. I could be kind and say disapointing service but in all honesty it was shambolic. And the menu had extremely limited veggie options ... won't be returning

They know their customers at this place – City of London office types who mostly work in financial services, i.e. probably not short of a penny or two and not particularly discerning about what they stick down their mouth and indeed this restaurant caters accordingly – an unadventurous standard menu consisting of bland over-priced dishes.
In this day and age the notion of ‘the curry house’ is something of a joke – bloke-centric badly ventilated cramped restaurants that all have pretty much the same menu and are firmly stuck in an early 1990s time-warp. To be fair this place isn’t quite like that, at least not in terms of décor (although it is quite cramped) but the rest fits the aforementioned unfortunate description. Nothing on the menu that we had stands out, in fact everything was rubbish – the biryani featured little lamb meat or chicken, the vegetarian dishes featured few vegetables but lots of sauce, the sizzling prawns (whatever that dish was) were dry, the Dhal too watery…I could go on. The meat didn’t taste at all fresh and overall the food wasn’t nearly authentically spicy enough. This place probably works better for larger groups who are more interested in ordering beer rather than food. The service is quite abrupt…dishes plonked on your table, sometimes the wrong dishes. Downstairs the toilets are truly atrocious.
To tell the truth I don’t expect any better from such an establishment but at £57 each (we didn’t even have desserts) this is an overpriced joke. There are plenty of better more authentic restaurants for this type of cuisine at more reasonable prices within walking distance in Whitechapel.

Cannot say enough GREAT things about our first time at this resturant. Did research and between the service, food and atmosphere it well exceeded. 100% try their chutney’s and take their recommendations of choices, you won’t be disappointed.

Comfortably the single worst curry I have ever had. Ordered a takeaway chicken korma with onion bhaji. Korma was actually white in colour and completely tasteless, best I can describe it is if someone had taken a korma and ran it under a hot tap to create a thin, watery and tasteless sauce . Bhaji was also foul, tasted like it was cooked in oil that hasn’t been changed for many months.
Utterly awful

My colleagues and I go here regularly as its close to our office and the service is quick and top standard. The food is fantastic! The different dishes on the menu mean we don't get board of going and the different flavours always please. The service is great too and the beers and wine ALWAYS really cold. Add to that the warm welcome and great service. Really cannot recommend the place any higher.

Went here after work on my own one evening. There was a large party in, but I was very well looked after and didn't have to wait too long to be served.
The food looked and tasted very fresh and clearly cooked to order. All your usual favorites plus some provincial specialties for variety when you want it.
Will be going back with work colleagues next time.

If you think you can handle lots of oily/Greasy food and not worried about next morning then you may like their food. We went there as a family and ordered 4 main dishes , the food was so oily that we had to put a napkin to soak the oil, upon showing to the manager / owner his words were “this how we cook our food” even shocked me further !! Seeing his don’t care attitude we left food without finishing. Now I have upset Tommy. Thank you Rajasthan ! On the poisitive side the breads and staff were nice.

I have eaten here for years on business and booked a table for 15 on a Friday night before my son’s wedding.
I was nervous that not everybody would share my enthusiasm. I need not have worried. The service and the food was fantastic and the evening was a great success, In my opinion the Rajasthan ii is the best Indian Restaurant in London.

From the moment you step inside you know you'll be in for a treat. Nice atmosphere, dimmed lights, spacious space and great vibes. Dishes we ordered were impressive, bold, spicy and beautifully presented. I cant fault any of the dishes. Service was impeccable. Highly recommend!

I went to Rajasthan II with my parents who were visiting me from out of town a few weeks ago, and Ali was our waiter. He did an exceptional job! I would highly recommend the restaurant - everything was delicious - and specifically requesting Ali. He went above and beyond, which meant a lot to me and left my parents with a great impression of London.

City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
