This is a pleasant place to meet friends. Each of the four of us had different starters and different main courses and we all said the food was good. We liked the fact that waiters stood by discreetly and waited for us to make our (long!) greetings on arrival. In some Central London restaurants there is an unspoken (and sometimes... More

On my most recent visit to Caffe Vergnano at Southbank the service was so bad I walked out. I've almost never done in a restaurant but on this particular evening I wasn't alone. The table next to me walked out about 5 minutes before I did, also because of the service. They weren't really busy but the wait staff didn't... More

Well located restaurant, busy and noisy in the early evening. Good menu and the food was good. The wine service was amateurish, the service team needs some basic training. Struggled to pull the cork, not given the opertunity to taste the wine first, ruined the last glass by dumping all of the sediment into the glass. Some fundamental stuff, the... More

I go to Caffe Vergnano At least 2 times a week for my weekly dose of great coffee, going for a simple yet perfectly executed espresso or their Gianduja or Gicaometta... it always draws a smile on my face and truly is worth a visit when Im in need of a little indulgence... well done guys !

I have been to this place a few times in the past and really enjoyed my previous experiences. Thinking it was a safe bet, I took my brother and his girlfriend when they were down in London. It was very disappointing. Service was awful, menu has been over simplified, £50 for three mains and three drinks (only one of which... More

I popped in this restaurant because it was the only one who wasn't full. My boyfriend ordered a pizza and I ordered pasta, it was delicious, however my portion was ridiculously small campared to the huge pizza my boyfriend had! Prices are ok. Service was slow, we waited a veryyy long time for our drinks, the waiters not so friendly.... More

Friday evening with tickets to the National Theatre, so my wife and I, having had coffee at Caffe Vergnano many times before, decided to eat here before the theatre. We knew early evening would be busy so we booked a table. When we arrived, exactly at the time we had booked for, there were no tables available so we ended... More

Ate a quick meal here on my last night in London as it was nice and close to my hotel Looks small when you enter but opens out into a large space downstairs. Garlic Bread entrée was quick and hot. Napoletana PIzza followed soon after and was large and tasty.

I frequent this place for no other reason other than its on my way to Waterloo station. The wine list is good, I've only ever had snacks to eat, which is good when they arrive! I like the interior and don't feel uncomfortable having a drink on my own. The service needs improvement however, if they could get that right... More

We were a party of four. Two of us had pasta - one dish was exceptionally good, but the other portion of pasta was distinctly short of sauce - what there was was delicious, but....fortunately my wife was not hungry. The risotto was brilliant, as was the cod, but the accompanying beans were so undercooked as to be inedible. When... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
