Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We tasted some fantastic ports (and champagne, and wines) with some delicious and well paired food, alongside a very knowledgeable master of port taking us through the history and background to what we were tasting. Brilliantly organised, lovely evening, and extermeley good value for money...considering the quality and value of everything we tasted.More

A lovely pre-Christmas meeting with friends was made even more memorable by gorgeous food, attentive staff, a great atmosphere and lovely surroundings. The three of us were given a cosy nook, complete with candlelight and Christmas crackers! I had bangers, mash, onions and gravy, followed...by a divine dessert of hot fruit crumble with coconut ice cream. Utterly delicious and my compliments went to the chef! My two friends equally enjoyed their dishes, with wine. Afterwards, there was a joyous sing song going on 'out back', a great end to our evening. We all agreed to go back again and I very much enjoyed it! Thank you.More

Great food!! Had the lunch special and a desert. Venue is for relaxing and conversation. Service was good and friendly. Food delivery was a little slow for someone in a rush. But with time, it was well worth it.

I would give it zero stars if I could. I have been to Davy's on a number of occasions and it has been okay. I took my father on Sunday for a special occasion and had the worst dining experience I have ever had at...a restaurant. We both ordered the market fish of the day. We then waited well over an hour. In that time other tables arrived, ordered their food, ate full Sunday roasts and left. Each time we asked if our food was on its way we were made to feel like it was an unreasonable request and on three separate occasions we were told it was "being plated as we speak". When the food finally arrived we didn't know whether to laugh or cry. A small piece of incredibly dry and overcooked fish with a few chips scattered across the plate. The fish was supposedly served with "lemon, samphire, herb butter" - none of those had made it to the dish. It took 2 minutes to eat and we were left with such an unpleasant aftertaste that we had to find a nearby shop to find something to eat that would remove the taste. I had taken my father for a treat - and was absolutely mortified and embarrassed. After making it clear to the manager how unacceptable our treatment was the manager agreed not to charge us for our meal - but that does not make up for the way it ruined what was supposed to be a special lunch. I will not be returning.More

We were really excited to come here having ordered wine from them during Covid a few times. I organised a dinner for my partner's birthday and my gosh were we disappointed. Firstly, we had a very awkward and rude welcome from the manager. It was...strange but we let it go initially. Eventually we were served. I explained that had called ahead about my partner's intolerances and was told they would accommodate him. It took 10 minutes for the server to return to tell us that they could only do steak and salad. And when we asked questions about the menu, the server was really confused and said she didn't know what gluten was. Surely anyone serving food should have a basic understanding of common food allergens. Then the server (who was very polite) proceeded to get the manager who we had met earlier. Another 10 minutes or so passed and he came to our table with no extra information, but said all he could do was ask the chef. Why hadn't he already asked the chef at this point? He knew what the issue was. Why continue to keep us waiting without trying to provide any solution. When I explained we had called ahead, he said noone should have told me that they could provide options for us. The menu says 'Please ask a member of the team should you require any allergen information', i.e. please tell the team but there's problem nothing we can do. Before we left we were half-heartedly offered a free glass of wine. But having been made wait for so long, and been made to feel like we were such a burden, we just needed to leave and get food somewhere. I was really embarrassed to have booked this night for my partner's birthday and I wish I had taken better notice of some of the recent bad reviews. We walked up the street and went to Sticks N Sushi instead who were so friendly and accommodating - and surprisingly had a better wine list.More

Ten of us visited Davy’s Wine Vaults in Greenwich today for a 60th Birthday Celebration. The Sunday Brunch was excellent and the staff attentive. We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and would like to thank James and his team for making the day very special....We also participated in the escape room experience prior to lunch which was so much fun and a great way to work up an appetite.More

This place lacked atmosphere even on a Saturday night it was virtually empty. The menu choices were quite limited. I did enjoy my main course but dessert was disappointing. Staff were polite and helpful. Left feeling underwhelmed.

Not great at all. I had high expectations after seeing the reviews. We visited for Easter Sunday and it was dead, this should’ve explained a lot. There was no lamb on the menu after it had sold out…this happens. Our waitress was initially very friendly....The staff all seemed extremely stressed and very blunt. We were often for long amounts of time without drinks because the table staff weren’t attentive enough. The food took forever to arrive. The mains were luke warm and the beef, well it was so flat and dry I could only describe it like an old flip flop! We mentioned the temperature of the food, she said she would let the chef know…I’m sorry, but any decent front of staff would offer to reheat the food or at least take a portion off the bill! Pro’s were…gravy, potatoes, chicken and veg. Wine was nice but very overpriced. Overall we were very disappointed with our experience. The waitress became rather rude and sarcastic in the end. Surprising after we gave here a compulsory tip of £55. Needless to say, we won’t be returning again. No wonder they’re so empty.More
