Visited Le Marmiton for my daughter’s 18th birthday. Excellent food and service. The tomahawk steaks were cooked to perfection. A taste of France in your doorstep. l look forward to another visit.

Had a wonderful night here last night. Sat outside to make the last of the summer. Food great as usual, but also well-looked after by the welcoming friendly staff. Enjoyed making a dent in the cocktail list! Thank you Le Marmiton.

I had the Wanstead fish starter and my husband had the prawns in sauce. Both excellent. We then both had the chicken in a sauce with a side of spinach. Chicken was really tasty, chips superb and great spinach. The problem was the initial service....We ordered water, olives and wine. The water came but the olives took an age, as did the wine. We were sitting around drinking water for about 15 mins. Once we got our food the service was fine. I’d certainly go back as we enjoyed the meal very much. Hopefully this poor service was a one off.More

What a joy to re visit Le Marmiton now that restriction have been lifted. The addition of a few outside tables made it feel like we were on holiday. As usual the food, wine and service were excellent, with staff still taking COVID precautions. Can’t...wait for the menu to change so that we can go again!More

Have visited several times and always come away feeling we've been so well looked after, with delicious food, relaxing atmosphere, and the very best of hospitality. The front of house team members make this a great experience from the minute you step in the door...- sincere and genuine welcome, warm and friendly service throughout from every member of the team. The food has always been excellent with great wines to complement. During the Covid situation, when permitted to open, they have been adhering to Covid-safe measures such as distance between tables, vigilant sanitation and cleaning, staff wearing visors, hand sanitiser etc. so you know every effort is being made for your comfort & safety. Our most recent visit was in June 2021 on a Saturday lunchtime, to try out their new Summer Set Menu (available Saturday lunches and Wednesday evenings). This is really great value for two or three courses, with the same great presentation & standard of cooking as the A La Carte. Choices include vegetarian and vegan options. We had starters of goat's cheese salad with chilli jam - a generous portion of light creamy cheese which looked very summery on the plate - and the charcuterie board, which had lots of selection including smoked duck slices. To follow, we had the corn-fed chicken breast with a rich mushroom cream sauce, crispy fries, and a side of beans with sesame and shallots (good combination), and also the flat iron steak with a generous green peppercorn sauce (which was so tasty I had to finish the whole jug!). No room for desserts unfortunately but I can't wait to visit again on an evening when I've left room for some. Special thanks to our server Sarah-Marie for looking after us and ensuring we had a lovely relaxing lunch. The menu changes regularly, is well put together with something for everyone, and the presentation is always spot on too. I can't recommend Le Marmiton highly enough and am very pleased to have somewhere like this to dine, close-ish to where I live. It's also just 5 minutes from Wanstead Tube Station if you are from further afield!More

I have enjoyed my meals every time I have been this year (not often enough due to lockdown) and wish I'd discovered it earlier. On my last visit in May 21; the fish bouillabaisse was exceptional, the prawn starter is the nicest prawns dish I...have ever eaten, the desserts are tasty and not standard. On another occasion, even the chicken and fries came with a divine mushroom sauce which made the dish special. I am very fussy about steak and rarely eat it but the flat iron steak here is great. Also, the wines are exceptional - a standard Merlot was one of the nicest I have tasted.More

I rarely write reviews unless there is a very good reason but this place deserves to do well. The set up was very Covid secure with a lot of space between diners on a Wednesday evening. The service was attentive but pleasingly low key and...there was no attempt to push extra drinks on us. Starters were deep fried Brie and Ham hock terrine which were both extremely tasty. My daughter then had a steak which she said was excellent while I had the French take on shepherds pie which was the best one I have ever tasted. We finished off with chocolate parfait and pistachio ice cream. Delicious. A very simple menu perfectly cooked, and the Breton cider made a pleasant change. I am definitely coming backMore

Blown away by quality of food. Steak perfection. Sides mouthwatering. Puddings gorgeous. Espressos just right. Wines superb. Even the unexpected vodka martinis were expertly made. This will be a regular in future. Oh and the service was so so nice.....fundamentally they cared!
