Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great atmosphere. Good and efficient service. We are early evening so a drink was included with a main course. I had the salmon salad. It was really lovely. So tasty.

I have been going to this restaurant for some years and it is not nearly as good as it used to be. On this visit I chose fish and chips, it arrived quickly and it looked good, but it was very salty. The salt masked...any flavour of the fish and left a nasty taste in my mouth for some time. Very disappointing.More

I would never return to this restaurant again after my experience at Old Compton Street Brasserie. I am a dog lover but I could not believe what I saw in front of me all within the knowledge and approval of the manger. The restaurant allows...dogs which is fine however I sat next to a couple who had their 2 dogs eating with them at the table. They then subsequently put their plates down on the floor and the DOGS WERE EATING OFF THE DINNER PLATE - YES THE ONES YOU WILL EAT OFF WHEN YOU VISIT. I looked at disgust but when they saw me I was subjected to a tirade of awful abuse where I was called various vile and homophobic names. To add further to the appalling experience they said that they knew the manager Max and they would have me thrown out. When the another manager came over they told them to throw me out because they “were friends of the manager Max”. To make matters worse the management and staff SAID & DID NOTHING!!! I was subjected to homophobic and vile abuse and they DID NOTHING. I assume because they were friends of the manager. So management feels that a customer throwing homophobic abuse at their customers is acceptable because they DID & SAID NOTHING. I asked the waitress what will happen to the plates that their dogs ate from - I was told that they were thrown away, REALLY??? Did you though all those plates away??? So if you are a friend of the manager he will allow your dogs to eat from the plates which are subsequently served to your customers and his friends can shout homophobic abuse at customers. This restaurant should be reported to Westminster council as it could cause a major food poisoning outbreak. I love dogs but when they are licking the table and eating off plates that are meant for customers is disgusting and who knows what you will catch. They give a quick wipe with a little spray but I WOULD NOT EAT HERE AGAIN. So when you sit down and tuck into your burger think about the dogs that were previously sniffing another dogs nether regions and then licking your table and eating off your plate. Do you want to take the risk??More

We started at 1230 and left at 1830. We had so much fun! It was the Miguel & Jeremy show. They were fun and personable. We ate and drink, we actually left for a few minutes to buy desserts for them. I wish we found...this restaurant sooner.More

Went here pre theatre for a late lunch/early supper. The staff are friendly and attentive, couldn’t fault them. The food is not great quality: their is ‘fish and chips’ the menu doesn’t specify what type of fish so I doubt it’s cod or haddock. We...had smoked salmon starter which was a melange of chopped up off cuts of smoked salmon in a messy salad. They don’t give a weight for either of the steaks on the menu and you have a choice of tomahawk or sirloin. A lady adjacent to our table was struggling to cut her steak so I decided against. The burger I had was gristly and the sauce a sloppy mess. I was intrigued by the kedgeree scotch egg but the waiter didn’t know was in it. We paid £120, for two courses, and six drinks. Essentially it’s a tourist trap and I felt ripped off by the quality of the food, that said, other reviews on this site like the place. I wouldn’t go back, there are other pubs in the area offering a simpler menu with better ingredients. But, as I said, very good ‘front of house’ and waiting staff and they’ll get you in and out very quickly, if you wish.More

I've been to the Old Compton Brasserie on a number of occasions in the last couple of months, for both lunch and dinner and have been unfailingly impressed by the food, the service and the value for money. In a neighbourhood where even average food...and drink often seems to come at a ridiculous premium, this lovely restaurant stands as a beacon of common sense. Never less than busy, the lunch menu features the excellent 'lunch plates', a selection of lunch dishes accompanied by a glass of house wine, or a beer or soft drink, all for a measly £15. My particular favourite is the fish finger bun - unfailingly delicious. Add to that great and friendly service (again not always the norm) and a lovely atmosphere, and this has become one of my regular 'go to' places.More

The staff was very friendly. I like the style of the restaurant itself. The drinks are also fabulous and delicious. I can recommend the non alcholic drinks. The food came fast and it tasted delicious. I can only recommend the place. For Vegetarians, there are...also a few options. I recommend reserving a table because the restaurant is in a popular part of London and fills up quickly. Specially on Fridays and Saturdays.More

Fun venue, attentive staff, delicious food and drinks! We came for an early dinner (just after 5pm) and were quickly seated. Atmosphere was lively, with lots of tables and a range of diners. This is in the heart of soho so we expected nothing less....Overall a really enjoyable meal - I had the grilled salmon salad and my partner had the chicken Caesar. Well made dishes, arrived quickly and felt like good value for money! Would definitely come here again.More
