Our for lunch with friends and intending to steer clear of Sunday roast (the old "it's never as good as what you'd cook yourself") we walked for miles avoiding all the usual gastro pubs and then realised we'd go hungry if we didn't decide on somewhere so stumbled into the bolingbroke. We were lucky to get a table at well... More

We often walk to Northcote Road on a Saturday for a little light shopping, so this is our go-to lunch venue. Small but reliable menu, with often an interesting range of specials. Fish is always a good choice, more often than not cooked lightly and deftly with subtle flavours and interesting vegetables. Decent wine and beer choices. Worth making a... More

Like another recent reviewer we experienced very rude, curt service here from a female member of staff. Last time we ever set foot in the place.

During January Three Cheers offers 50% off food for weekday lunches and some dinners across the half dozen or so puns they own mainly in SW London. That might have explained why, towards the end of the period, the front room was almost completely full this Friday lunchtime with a number of tables reserved. Also because the room at the... More

I took my friend for lunch. We hadn't booked and were greeted by the waiter who was relatively helpful. We sat in the bar area and said we would order food and to let us know when a table was free. The two female serving staff were rude, unhelpful and dismissive. We do apologise for disturbing their day! The food... More

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide a review of The Bolingbroke. I am very sorry to read that you received such poor service on your visit. This is most unusual as we often receive such excellent reviews about the service at The Bolingbroke. However, I have passed your comments onto the manager who will speak with... More

Popped in for a quick bite. Vibrant place, staff are helpful. Menu is compact with a few specials. Had the carrot soup which was thick and tasty. My wife had the gravlax which was flavourful - she did add some red onion which gave it a bit more bite. This visit gave us a good taste and we'd want to... More

Went with my family to celebrate an early Christmas dinner. In our section there was a waiter who was fantastic throughout the meal. A lovely warm welcome, really knowledgeable on the menu, looked genuinely happy to be there. And there was a waitress who was the complete opposite, not really that helpful and didn't seem interested to be there. I... More

Went here for Sunday lunch as a party of 14 prebooked. We had a reduced menu, which made ordering easier. Pub catered well for adults and young children. We had starters, mains and desert, plus lovely wine. Service was prompt and friendly. I cannot fault them. A memorable occasion.

My friends and I love this place; it's child friendly, dog friendly, crowd friendly and the food is amazing. Our only problem is with the food portions. The tortelloni is divine, but you get a minuscule portion of 6 pieces. The chocolate gnocchi is also nice, but you only receive 5 tiny pieces. We always leave hungry, so in some... More
