This place is amazing for a pint with the "old farts" of Mayfair, all that you expect from a proper boozer. To be honest its far better than the Albert (dagmar) in Eastenders, innit Oisin is a legendary pub landlord

When looking for some good meat around Mayfair it doesn't gets much better than this. First you pick your meat at the counter (always good to see what you're about to eat) and take some time to enjoy the place, one of the oldest restaurants...More

The ambiance was superb. It is a lovey little steakhouse above a bar. Full of character. The staff were professional, prompt and friendly. We had some great drinks and wine. The food was good, but not great. To be fair, I am a harsh critic...More

We regularly have a drink in the wonderful pub when we are in London, but it is several years since we ate in the Guinea Grill. So we decided to put matters right, and booked for Sunday lunch on our recent London trip. We were...More

I’ve come here many times but this time made me think it’s living off its reputation. The tables are too close to discuss business at - which a lot of people were - and the room became uncomfortably hot. Service has slipped a bit. The...More

I came with a group of friends for dinner. It is a traditional "pub" with a dining room at the back and upstairs. We were shown the cuts available for the day at the beginning and the food overall was very good. The crab/crayfish cocktail...More

I can see why the likes of Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue come to this restaurant... fine dining but in a traditional old English setting, serving hearty "pub grub". We had a mixture of steaks, but the rib-eye was particularly delicious. The sides complemented the...More

This is a very traditional, very posh and more than slightly worn restaurant. Don’t let that put you off. It is brilliant. The Mews street outside is cool as hell. The tiny pub at the front of the dining room is cosy but a brilliant...More

Set beside some of London's best parks and home to
world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed
thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of
London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is
haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is
vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic
streets will reveal that Michelin stars and
chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even

Smart casual seems to be fine. I saw some jackets and ties, some jackets without ties and some just trousers and long sleeve shirts Jeans, also doesn't seem to be a problem. It's not brightly lit and it's a pub really.

In 1952, a tenant by the name of Alistair leased the Guinea from Young's and transformed the business with a very simple idea. He realized that following the end of the Second World War, Americans were beginning to holiday in Europe in big numbers. Tourists would often, travel through France and Italy before arriving on British soil by which time they were 'gagging' for a decent steak. A decent steak was exactly what Alistair provided. Prime Scotch beef from Aberdeenshire. Basically, there was no menu and no price list. You were simply given a knife and asked to place a mark on the steak to indicate what size you wanted. Suddenly the Guinea Grill was a hot ticket, film stars, politicians, world leaders and the wealthy flocked to the back room of our tiny pub. We're founder members of the Scotch beef club and we've been serving the very best steaks for 60 years. We've trialled beef from other parts of the globe such as the US and Argentina. They all have their merits but for depth of flavour none of them compare to prime Scotch and the finest of English beef. This is the basis of our continued popularity together with the fact that our restaurant is within a unique London pub. Many of our staff have been with us for years, and we place a high value on customer recognition and warm hospitality.
