Great setting, so-so food, poor service. You order and pay at the counter, then take your drinks to the table. The food they will serve when ready. There is a separate counter for pastries, cakes and bottled water/juices. Nice spot to rest tired legs or just to take in the scenery, with a pastry and a drink. Nothing more.

I cleared Heathrow airport customs, took an express train (expensive but the underground would have been busy in the return afternoon traffic) and walked around Hyde Park. Food was a bit plane and very busy but the Serpentine bar and kitchen had a wonderful soup and although busy was a pleasant stop...also it was good to use their bathroom facilities before getting back to Heathrow and continuing my flight .

Glad this restaurant was open Sunday morning, as my airline served a very small breakfast before landing at Heathrow and I didn't eat anything at the airport. So I was very hungry by the time I got to Hyde Park. Ordered the full English breakfast with hot tea. Everything was well cooked. Good service from friendly staff.

Food (fish and chips) took 45mins to arrive and the selection was terrible as a large proportion of options (roughly half) were sold out. Food admittedly ok when it finally arrived however, given the wait, we left with a bitter taste. Will not return, can not recommend.

A group of four arranged to meet for lunch at the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen. We sat at an outside table and went to order drinks whilst the group hose their food. Was told (politely) that they couldn’t do drinks without a food order - something that wasn’t mentioned on website or menu. I returned some minutes later and joined the queue to place the complete order. Food arrived promptly with two of us ordering fish and chips which turned out to be mostly fried batter with a mouthful of fish. I do like crispy batter but was saddened that the cook had decided to pass this off as fish and chips. As they make their dishes on the premises, they must have known that these standards are unacceptable especially as I saw correctly sized and cooked portions follow ours delivered to other tables. Having finished our original drinks, went back to get another order but was told that we had to order food to get any drinks. Showed the staff my receipt for the meals we had already had but no, they were insistent that we had to order more food. I can only conclude that they have had their drinks licence amended to make it a condition of drinks sales but really should inform customers beforehand. I can remember when this restaurant was a joy to visit with a good menu and staff who took pride in their jobs. As I read in another review, the writer stated that they were unlikely to win repeat business but that as it was a tourist establishment, they were not expecting to rely on repeat business . Maybe they should take the name of “bar” away from the name too as this is not a valid description. Lastly, watch out for the wasps if eating outside

Hello Rohd, firstly, I would like to thank you for taking time and sending us your feedback. We always take feedback seriously and I believe it helps us to improve. Secondly, I would like to apologize for the experience you have faced on your visit to our restaurant. I thought you should know that I have already taken this up with our head chef and the team in order to ensure this do not happen again. Also, for a period of time, and in order to control anti social behavior in the park, we were requested to only sell alcoholic drinks with food items and whilst we knew this might caused disappointment for some guests I can only apologize and inform that it was not our decision to do so. The management should seriously asking themselves why they do bother to keep this place open. There’s absolutely no customer care, the service is rubbish (it’s of course not the service staff fault, the fish stink from its head), no one is cleaning the tables. 40 minutes to have a coffee, 35 minutes for a bacon sandwich (despite the app tells you that your coffee will be delivered in 5 minutes). This is not like any other restaurant as you pay ahead; to have a refund and leave is worst than wait 1 hours for your food. Totally disorganised. Get your act together and do something with it, just don’t rely to the fact that it’s in Hyde Park next to the serpentine.

Poor service and rubbish food Waited for more than 40 minuts for fish and chips and served without any cutlery and sauces. Bad manager he doesn’t care or try to help out. I do not recommend this place for food but view and drink is alright. Staff should be trained and management must be changed!

By the time we got to the front of the queue they refused to serve us breakfast (despite it being before the 11.30 cut off they say on their menu) and refused to serve us lunch (because it was before 11.30). Go figure. So we ordered just a coffee but this was so over-steamed it was almost boiling. Nice view, but that's about it.

I’ve been here lots of times with my son and parter after a day out. We usually LOVE it and have loved the service. Today after paddling in the fountains, my son and I decided to head here (instead of going to pizza express or wherever which was geographically easier) because they do a GREAT fish and chips. We’ve had it lots of evenings this summer. I ordered at the bar inside as I was alone with my toddler. I asked the girl for chips at first (going to order fish and chips and then some extra chips and share with my son). She says ‘sorry we’ve ran out of chips’ then turns to her line manager and says ‘we’ve ran out of chips right’ and her manager says to her ‘yes unless they order a burger’. The girl serving me says ‘so you can’t order chips unless it comes with something else we aren’t using it as a side today’ (I have no issue with this girl she’s doing what she’s been told, fair enough). I go to the back of the line as need more thinking time. Come to the front and the line manager serves me. I ask for fish and chips. She says ‘sorry we have no fish and chips chips, that’s at lunchtime only, in the evening it’s burgers or pizzas’. (Weird- doesn’t say on the menu. It was literally listed under ‘main menu’ and I literally came here and had fish and chips last week). So I say ‘ok a margarita pizza and chips please’ and she said ‘we have no chips’ and I say ‘unless it’s with a burger?’ (She didn’t know I’d over heard her say this to my previous server). She said ‘yep we don’t have chips for a side order only for burgers, it’s what the chefs say’ I explain this is ridiculous? And means I will it be ordering anything so her refusing to sell chips to me is literally loosing her custom? It doesn’t make business sense. I repeat that it’s ridiculous and she says ‘I know but I don’t have them to sell to you.’ I don’t know why my custom is of less value or importance to you guys just because I’m ordering a pizza and chips rather than a burger? Very weird. In fact you will be getting more money from me than you would I had just ordered a burger? We’re the burgers going off? Why are you only allowed to eat chips of you are eating a burger. I run a busy beer garden site, I get that today may have been crazy and definitely relate and feel for you but maybe re-think the food rules you are creating? It literally didn’t make business or customer service sense? I don’t know if the chefs or the manager were being difficult- either way it was a very strange experience. Very weird. Ended up going to a pub near the station and had a great customer experience which made up for the one I lacked at yours this evening.

We visited today for coffee's and scones. We ordered on the app. When our order turned up, it was more or less thrown on the table without a plate or knife. When we asked the waitress, she replied ‘huh?’ And seemed surprised. After 15 mins we asked another waiter. When we finally got to eat our scones they were very stale! We took them back and to be fair we’re offered a refund and this staff member was very helpful. We were told we would receive this in 1-2 weeks. And said they would tell the chef. Our waitress couldn’t have been more disinterested in her job and gave no customer service what so ever. Very disappointed.

Beautiful setting and overpriced as expected for the usual tourist spots however completely inefficient and the worst service experienced ever. Such a shame for a great super city like London. Our meals took over two hours and most of the items on their menu where not available. When I arrived ( which was not busy) I asked a staff member outside politely if the inside was air conditioned and her reply was “I don’t know”. We had an ordinary lunch in a beautiful setting however very disappointed in the lack of care and worst customer service ever. You are better off packing a picnic lunch or BYO.

We went to London today and went in for lunch at 11.25am. My mum ordered from the breakfast menu just in time as that finished at 11.30am. There were 5 staff behind the ordering area but only one was taking orders as other we cleaning and only one other prepping drinks so we queued for a long time. I did chuckle as there are 4-5 tills behind the serving area. I ordered the salmon salad as I couldn’t order the same as my mum which was avocado and poached eggs on toast as they only have one type of bread which I could not eat due to health issues. My daughter ordered a pizza which they don’t start cooking until 11.30am I ordered the salmon salad as I mentioned above only to be told they only start preparing salads from 12 noon so I would have to wait. I was only told this once my mum had her food and was eating so it’s not like we could get up and go elsewhere. So mum ate first, then there was about a 20 min wait for my daughters pizza. I then had to wait until 12.45pm to finally get my salad. Mum had to go in twice to see where my salad was only to be told “we are extremely busy!” Not acceptable as a salmon salad should not take 45 mins to prepare and it was a sum of 1hr 20mins after the initial order was placed when my salad finally arrived. What was meant to be a lovely relaxing lunch over looking the serpentine turned out to be not so lovely as we all ended up eating our meals one at a time rather than all together. There was zero apology from any of the staff. To top it all off when I finally got my salad one of the staff asked me if she could clean the table legs whilst I ate. I said no, she didn’t look happy as she said she would get in trouble if she didn’t clean the table legs. I said I don’t want to be eating whilst you are cleaning the legs of the table I am sitting at. As a small business owner I make sure my premises is ready and clean for my clients before we open. We don’t ask clients if we can clean around them whilst they are using our service! Poor! Poor! Poor! We won’t be going back!

Me and my partner wanted to have breakfast here as the seating looks over the lake in Hyde park. It has a lovely view and nice shaded seating areas. However once we had ordered the drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive and then after that the breakfast took over 1 hour to arrive. The servers are nice, but I wouldn’t go here again. It’s overpriced for the wait time and simple food. Definitely needs more staff or needs to be better organised. Don’t go here if you want a quick meal!!!

Went for breakfast it was awful! 6 months ago a bowl of porridge was £6 at this restaurant and although on the expensive (double the price of other restaurants) at least it was freshly made with good quality ingredients. The porridge I had on my visit yesterday was undercooked and served with cheap honey and raisins. The service was poor and sloppy. It was initially served in a takeaway tub which I asked to be put in a bowl. I watched as my bowl of porridge was left on the side counter while the staff stretched for raisins which when eventually found she carried through the restaurant on a spoon, it would have been comical if it were the sitcom Fawlty Towers. I will never return. Sadly I have watched this restaurant decline year after year. It used to be a lovely place to go. The first change came several years ago when they change the seating from lovely cosy chairs to these cold hard school dining room types. It's gone from bad to worst ever since, From the cutlery and crockery used, the quality of food, and the decline in service. Despite this, I stuck with it but no more sadly this was my very last visit. This is no longer what I consider to be a restaurant, it's a poorly run cafe! I would not recommend this place. There are other places to eat further along the serpentine which are a lot better I recommend giving this one a pass. For good food and good service, I suggest visiting the lido cafe instead!

We ordered a pizza for £14 which, when it came to the table, was cold, only had a bit of cheese sprinkled in the middle, raw ham and had not even been sliced. Soft and squidgy and not tasty at all. The restaurant should be embarrassed by the level of the quality of their food.
