Excellent Sunday lunch, food was superb (Roast Pork Belly with all the trimmings), service was attentive and nice atmosphere (lively but not too loud), very much recommended - but you do have to book in advance!

Popped into the Bobbin for a New Year lunch with my wife and daughter who lives in Clapham. We had a super meal and were extremely well looked after. Wife and daughter enjoyed the Penne with Ragu and I had Sea Bream which was beautifully...prepared. Excellent Gin and Tonics and a very nice pint of Timothy Taylor both went down very well. Nice environment, well appointed, comfortable seats / tables etc. Key with places like this is the standard of service which was very high - thoroughly hospitable staff. Will visit again!More

"Christmas set menu" is so often a recipe for disappointment – but not here. Three sizeable courses of really excellent, top-quality food. Great house wines, excellent (and potent) gin and tonics. Friendly service, lovely space. The Bobbin's a gem, and definitely worth a visit.

I booked a last minute for Sunday roast and the woman on the phone was polite and very accommodating. It sadly went down hill from there, the staff were very awkward with us on arrival (accept one who took our original order) and had to...explain who I was a number of times before being put in the corridor next to the loos, certainly not somewhere to eat unless it's a snack... there is a fire there but albeit was on not on a winters day. I realised after they don't allowed dogs in the restaurant (Not sure which part of the pub is restaurant), a new policy as dogs carry covid, right?!. We ate a good main but was forgotten about for anything else.. luckily behind me were the menus in a box so we could have a look and grab someone's attention. Anyhow as a frequenter of their sister pub the Fox and Hound who have scrapped the silly dog policy (probably because of the name) and the staff are far more friendly and accommodating, I'll go back there in future.More

Superb, great customers, great staff. Made a huge error and walked out without paying my tab. Called back when I realised, really understanding staff, sorted out straight away. Proper pub, proper staff, will be back.

We recently rocked up to the Bobbin around 7:15pm this past week for dinner, my 9yr old with me (husband and 12yr old trailing behind). Being a bit late I apologised to the barman , who, non-plussed fetched menus ready to take us to our...table. But at that moment we were then swiftly interrupted by the manager/hostess on duty; I expected her to say perhaps our table had been taken, but oh no, it was to kick us out. 'No kids past 8pm.' I stood there shocked, not only were we familiar locals with impeccably mannered kids , but newsflasth, it was nowhere close to 8pm, (when one can only presume they turn all those smelly, sticky-fingered ratbags into mice) . She insisted it wasn't her rule, bla bla bla. Policy is policy, (but search me what benefit it served). My son stood quietly with his notebook ready to play Hangman and write his stories, calmly demonstrating far better manners and social intelligence than our hostess, only to be kicked out for the temerity of being under 5'... 45 minutes before said 'policy' even started. Long story short, ( I know, too late), I wrote the restaurant directly to lodge a STRONGLY WORDED complaint. That very manager replied , apologising 'to read this' (ie, not for having kicked us out), but rather suggesting it was ME who had the problem, ME who was being unreasonable as I must have been too dense and belligerent to accept that it was not HER policy. She was just the poor manager on duty enforcing it. Yea. 'Oblivious' comes to mind. Anyway, it's not the first tme we've been made to feel unwelcome there; it's always been a tad charmless, cliquey and tribal- something I've overlooked when my boys wanted their burgers (before 8pm, obvs!). But service has always been vague and disinterested at best, smug and arrogant at worst. Add to this increasingly mediocre food and tired, lazy decor and this 'charming local' leaves MUCH to be desired. It begs the question how on earth an establishment whose business is hospitality is allergic to being hospitable. Anyway, the prompt for writing this is that a new pub, The Pigs Head, has just opened about 100m around corner in Clapham Old Town. We just went there this evening and the difference is beyond night and day. Amazing, friendly, knowledgeable staff- warm and welcoming boasting an outstanding and dynamic menu. And BONUS- They actually like their guests! Honestly, it's in a different league. My advice is give the Bobbin a miss and send your custom elsewhere.More

Overall this was a great local pub to visit. We went for Sunday lunch and the roast dinner was great. The meats in the roast were particularly good! Only let down was the service which was pretty unfriendly and almost rude, front of house staff...need some training in engaging with the general public and how to create a welcoming atmosphere. Food arrived quickly end was very tasty. Such a shame that the service did slightly spoil the experience.More

I am a big fan of the Fox & Hounds pub which is a sister to the Bobbin so decided to try it for a low key dinner with a friend. The food was great and service was fantastic ... I don’t understand some of...the reviews / previous comments! We shared a number of small plates including calamari, bruschetta, kofte meatballs etc and everything was lovely. The food was fresh and delicious, staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely return!More
