Group of 10 of us kicked out for uttering one swear word. Bar man then sweared at us (!!!) then threw us out. Lived in London for 10 years. Never seen anything like this.

Always lovely and look forward to going back. The manager is a lovely friend and the mascot Monty is always cute to see....
Popped in for a quick bite, and wasn't disappointed, and my wife likes it as they serve tea. I got a large portion of a very aromatic and delicious Thai Chicken curry and my wife had a burger which was okay as burgers go. The...sticky toffee pudding was unctuous and so naughty, and the Eton Mess was good, but made with squirt-squirt cream which is okay but fresh would have been better. The choice of beers is good, with an extensive wine list. The service was attentive, pretty quick but not too over-bearing. Will definitely be back for more.More
Popped in on a Friday lunch time, having never been before and was pleasantly suprised at how busy it was. The service was prompt and very friendly, our waiter gets 10/10 for being so super attentive. The food was given a unanimous thumbs up, my...very generous fish finger sandwhich was both tasty and filling. The consensus around the table was overwhelming positive. Would definately visit again.More
Decent food, reasonably priced. Service was good though did need prompting a couple of times. Gents had quite a stench about them...
Walked here from my hotel for an honest Sunday dinner away from South Bank and its Valentine's overcharging. The few people that were drinking soon left me alone to my menu. Even when the only one in the place, the two staff were pretty disinterested....The food itself was great: I had the lamb roast, which came well presented, with plenty of meat, beautifully crunchy roast potatoes and lashings of gravy not even the oversized Yorkshire pudding could soak up. Yet once my glass and plate were cleared, no one returned to ask if I wanted another drink, or dessert. I would have had both, but after half an hour, I got up and paid my bill to a woman who didn't even ask how my food was.More
Went here for a leaving do and was far, far from impressed. I arrived at about 5pm and although there were four servers behind the bar it took about 10 min to get served! And when I was served the real ale I chose was...cloudy. It took a negotiation, and another 5 min, to get it changed and I personally turned the label around on the pump to show it was off. Later on I came back and they told me that they had changed the barrel so I tried another pint - which was as cloudy as the first one was. I suspect that they had tapped a barrel before it had settled but I do not understand, as they had two other beers available, why they did not take it off and leave it to settle. Apart from that, which should never happen in a well run pub, the place just seemed tatty and rather un down. The snack food served to the party was just about edible, no more. As I said in the title there are many other, much better, pubs in the area. Do not waste your time and money in this one!More
I found this place following some positive reviews from Tripadvisor. I confirm. Despite I don't like the borough of Southwark, It's a nice place with excellent food and a very friendly staff, A very pleasant Saturday afternoon.
Great ale in this pub - happened to go in here last weds after literally stumbling out of the Osteopaths opposite to wait for my friend...lovely staff, brought my drink over to the table because of my bad back...stayed for a while with my friend...and I had fish and chips - cracking meal and great price...will definitely be going back again.More
Me and my wife were there in september, 2015, during our vacation. This pub is not far from the hotel we were. We tried the beers (I tried the becks and my wife a few Guinnesses) and some starters. The fishermans platte was ok, but...the scottish eggs are actually great, They come with a side sauce, similar to a barbecue sauce but smoother. On another day we tried the Big Monthy burgers, that come with roustic fries. Nice! We were there on a sunday as well, and to our surprise the kitchen was closed.More
I was ready for Lunch and went in for the 1st time ever. I asked about wheather the 'Seafood Platter' was Hot food? Or just cold out of a packet? The 'Stand in Manager' / barman, seemed to go check, returned and had said it...was HOT FOOD and the Salmon was a Salmon Steak with a side of anchovy. Thinking it was going to take a while to cook, i also ordered a small pot of herbal tea. I paid £15.40... Expensive for Lunch, but I was Hungry and the Salmon Steak I was expecting would do the job, I thought. I was a bit surprised that the food came to the table within a min of the pot of tea... The meal was unrecognisable and It was NOT what the Stand-in-Manager had described to me, at all!!! Nonsense! The Chef or waitress was visibly upset and began to argue with me standing over me at the table. I was hurridly given the menu again. (I should have left at that point, but hunger....). They gave me back the difference in change, once i made an alternative choice. I thought, well, they can't possibly go wrong with FISH FINGERS AND SALAD. But, i was totally WRONG! It was served in minutes and was unattractive on the plate. I bit and it was greasy and the wedges of dry bread was just not made with any 'delight' or love for food. The 'salad' a very small bit of green, hitched at the side of a plate... that couldn't possible supply an ounce of Vitamins, and was duly left on the plate. I even began to wonder if the chef had spat in the food...or worst(?) I had begun to feel really sick to my stomach. I told them it also isn't good and that the food really wasn't nice. I had eaten some as I was so hungry by that time, but it didn't justify the £6.50 they charged. I felt insulted & a bit mugged, because they take the payment at point of order before you even see or taste whatever it is they bring. To make the first-time experience to the Goldsmith lunch a 'memorable' one, my second complaint was now totally mis-Managed by the inexperienced and insulting mistreatment of the arrogant, and obnoxious 'Stand in Manager'. He simply refused to 'Listen' to the Customer's concerns, and did not want to let the Customer speak her sentence; so he went on to interrupt and frustrated each and every attempt at telling him about your clear issue with the food. He seemed to want to talk 'over' me as the Customer, seemingly willing to justify the bad food served to me by saying that 'no other customer was complaining'. He needs Customer Service training, hospitality training and he is not 'Management' material at all. Needless to say, he lost that business another Customer. No need to return! If you require good food, polite and professional service with attention to detail, taste and slight consideration for your health, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. TODAY WAS THE 1ST AND LAST VISIT THERE. NEVER AGAIN.More
Went there for a friday lunch with a colleague. We got there at 12 - just before the rush. The menu was pretty good for a pub - the service was also good and the curry was even better. Add to that a nice cool...pint of non-fizzy cider and you are on to a winner. Recommended to any office worker who thinks lunchtime should be more than a sandwich over the keyboard.More
At the start of our European trip, the 14 of us headed out for a pub meal not too far from our accommodation in South London. Since there were so many of us they gave us an upstairs room which was empty but for a...couple who, until we arrived, were enjoying a quiet dinner for two. The kids all sat at one table while the adults at another and there was also a terrace area which the kids enjoyed 'hanging out' on as it offered a bit of fresh air as well as being on the first floor and gave views out over the street. Our waiter was funny and attentive, even pulling up a chair to take our order since we took a while to make the order for all 14 of us. Food was good. The beer was ALSO good and I, for one, enjoyed a few pints! All in all it was a great night out, topped off by a photo taken outside the entrance with all of our group, staff members of the pub including the pub owner's dog!More
So what can I say I think that I will come back if I will be around. Great neat choice of beer and wines nice menu. Simply and really interesting experience.
Such a great little pub. Love the landlady! Good selection of wine, good food. A really friendly pub.
