One of my friends had been here before and recommended it. A few of us visited on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago. From the look of the tables outside, you might think it's a cafe, but once you go inside it's a bit more formal, with comfortable seats.
We shared half a dozen oysters, charcoal grilled squid & prawns and lobster burgers. The last 2 came with salad and plentiful perfect crisp fries. The oysters were HUGE! Squid was super tender and prawns very juicy. The lobster rolls were a nice creamy contrast to the hot seafood.
We were pretty full afterwards (I couldn't finish the fries despite trying hard, they were a generous portion!). However, when we were offered some complimentary home made vanilla ice cream, we suddenly felt that we could make room for it. The ice cream was really delicious - creamy and full of vanilla bean flavour, the perfect end to the meal.
One suggestion is that for dishes like the grilled prawns, that it would have been nice to have a finger bowl or wet towelette to hand after de-shelling the prawns.
Thanks to the friendly staff! Will definitely be returning and have already recommended to other seafood-loving friends. Given the central London location, quantity and quality of (sea)food, it's great value for money.

We found the Shell online when searching for seafood restaurants in London, we are so glad we did, what a gem! I started with the Jersey Oysters (best value in London) and my partner and I shared the Grill Rice platter for Main, WOW! Lobster, langoustines, Shrimps, loads of mussels, squid (beautifully fresh), seafood rice and chips! Everything was delicious and the sheer quantity of food deafeted us. I finished with the complimentary ice cream which has a very interesting story (ask the waiter). All in all, beautiful seafood, huge portions, excellent value for money and a lovely setting (love the aquarium in the toilets). REALLY hope they survive these quiet times.

Domenico has been great !! He recommended amazing vanilla ice cream which is the best ice cream I have had for a long while.
We have 12 oysters, lobster seafood rice and seafood platter for 2, for 3 people. The food is very good quality and surprising, big portion as well.

We came to the shell full of excitement for a lovely valentines dinner, we left bitterly disappointed. The food itself wasn’t bad, but for the price, I was expecting the highest quality seafood I’ve ever eaten, what I received was an average at best platter of food.
The service though is what really let the evening down, it was very slow, with our drinks coming 15 minutes after ordering. The staff themselves were very rude. Due to this we decided not to pay the OPTIONAL service charge of £15. After opting to do so, our waiter, whomst was on his phone all evening, turned even ruder. He first of all stormed off to the manager who quite rightly told him it was OPTIONAL! He then demanded we worked out the split in the bill another 5 times, before refusing to speak to us when leaving.
The whole experience ruined what was a lovely day at the theatre and we will not be returning to what I am now calling ‘The home of bland seafood and rude service

Given the good reviews, we were hoping for something special but was somewhat disappointed. Without trying to sound pretentious, we love shellfish and have eaten in seafood restaurants all over the world. This would not rank highly. We had the gratin platter for 2. The scallops (2) were tiny, the lobster tough and the gratin ( cheese) welded to it. The prawns and mussels no real flavour.
The service was poor… we had to ask for a drink when we arrived and no one asked if everything was ok ( despite leaving quite a lot of food ). No offer of a complimentary ice cream ( which I now know is included). We asked for the service charge to be removed, which is unusual for us .
I appreciate that the cost is a lot lower than many seafood restaurants in London and so I guess you get what you pay for!

OMG, this place is amazing!! The seafood tastes sooo nice! The grilled seafood with butter tastes so so so good!! The seafood is fresh and sweet, and the price is soooo valuable! We wanted to order more sides as we didn’t realise the size, but the nice and friendly manager said grilled seafood comes with big portion of fries too. Wow… the portion is huge, we love it so much! The food is very nice and the manager is very nice too. Also, the house wine is very nice too!! Love everything here, thank you so much! Definitely come back for more!! The service is incredible!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

I went there with my wife and friends and because it was earlier lunch the service was amazing with the chef coming to the table guiding us throw the gigantic plate of seafood. The manager was always on the spot with his drinks recommendations.
The toilet is exotic with an aquarium separating both toilets (you can only see people washing hands on the other side).
I have to say the creme brulee is to cry for.
Overall, a 5 star food, price for quality and service.

Two pescatarians and a carnivore came to eat and left hugely satisfied. The shell fish was stunningly good and the sharing plate meant that their individual favourites were plentiful. The steak was superb and cooked to perfection. We wish you well in these uncertain times, you deserve to succeed.

Found this restaurant whilst looking on Groupon, although we didn't purchase the Groupon we decided to book the restaurant anyway. We found the restaurant easy to get to, just across the road from Holborn Station. The service was really good and the choice of food was great, hot and cold seafood. We ordered a (hot) platter which Lobster, prawns, mussels, oyster which was lovely. The only thing I would say is that the platter had one lobster which was cut in half, so we had half a lobster each, but one half was completely empty and had no meat in, it was covered in cheese (Gratin), so you didn't notice at first - so that was a bit disappointing. But the rest of the platter was lovely and we really enjoyed it. It was on the pricey side, but considering the amount of seafood on the platter, I think it was quite fair. Would definitely go again and recommend this restaurant.

Visited with my husband using a Groupon voucher for £60 worth of food with the voucher costing £30. We got a sharing platter which was huge and enjoyed. Lots of variety of seafood and fish platters to choose from with prices starting from around £40 for a platter or starting from around £30 for a main for one person - the prices go up quite high depending on what you want. We also ordered some sides including olives and fries but wish the server had told us not to bother with the fries because the platter came with fries already but a small complaint.

We wanted to try this restaurant as i love seafood i wasn't disappointed the platter was so fresh every item on there you knew was fresh the manager Jamal said they get there seafood flown over from Canada daily and i can well belive him and the lobster burgers were amazing even the fries were gorgeous
The price was very good and portion size very big and loads of variety .
They also have specials days offers which look great.
Jamal the manger was so friendly knowledgeable and helpful his service was exceptional lovely man

My husband loves seafood, so I took him ThecShell restaurant for his birthday day dinner.
It was right choice!! He was impressed and really enjoyed food. Generous portion and reasonable price. Oyster was so big, thick and creamy. Lobster, prawns, scallop, gratin oyster and mussels are delicious and good quality.
Staff are very professional, polite and attentive.
High quality customer service.
We have been few seafood restaurant in Piccadilly and Covent Garden, but we felt overpriced. The Shell give you amazing experience with reasonable price.
We will go back there to try cold seafood platter and seafood rice very soon.
Highly recommended.

I just ate at the place and I had to write a review. The food is amazing and i will come again for sure. I believe the waiter's name was Azhariul and he was really kind and professional. Today is Monday and it is lobster day! Unlimited lobster for a limited time that I believe it was one hour and a half. I only ate three because i had to leave but they were surely enough! First one comes with fries and a salad as sides and the other refills come without. I really enjoyed the visit and i will come again. Did mention that Tuesday is shrimp day? Also unlimited. A thank also to Jamal the manager.

Me and my wife went to Shells today for lunch. When we arrived we thought the place was a bit not quite as expected. I asked them if the sea food was fresh and was assured it was but still insisted I need to see, so was taken downstairs to have a look at their stock.The lobsters were alive so was the crabs the prawns were perfect.
They showed me the kitchen which very clean. Satisfied I sat down to order.
When the food came I was so surprised it was delicious, the lobsters were out of this world the crab was great and so was the prawns. Portion was huge and we really enjoyed the finger lick seafood. I have been to much higher priced seafood in west london but nothing compares to what we had great service and fantastic food.
I recommend it to anyone who loves shell fish to go there even if the place does not look 5 stars but the food will amaze you. Will go back soon.

Very good overall experience, food was served quickly and all very fresh for a city location. As a group of seafood connoisseurs, all the dishes were well prepared and the manager Mick was very attentive and engaging. My 7 year old really enjoyed his steak and chips as well as some lobster, his meal was on the house as a special Sunday offer. The ice cream was also a great touch and rounded off the visit before we headed back out into the cold weather. Drinks, food and desserts were all well priced and lots of different variations were available on the menu.
We arrive around 6pm and by 7 the place was full, so make sure to book before if possible.
