On so many levels this restaurant gets it right: Service Food Quality Atmosphere Price Authenticity This HAS to be the way forward for the restaurant / hospitality venue of today. Even if the food hadn't been great, you could not fault the service. Kind, generous, funny, helpful, efficient. How many places do you know that will run after you on a packed, busy Friday evening when they're rushed off their feet (I say rushed off their feet but, believe me, everything works like clockwork) just to hand you back something that you'd left behind. Restaurateurs of today, take note: these things matter! But the food: I've not been to India yet (bucket list) but this has got to be as authentic as it gets. Rich, deep, complex sauces with just the right amount of hint of spice. Delicate rice that complements the depth of the sauces to go with it. I haven't tasted Tarka Dahl like that in a VERY long time. Bravo chef! And then the prices - well September is 50% off (would be rude not to) - but that aside, so well-priced for the quality of ingredients and time and passion invested in construction of these dishes. Thank you to everyone last night who made this evening such a special one with your passion for delivering good, strong, affordable, perfectly delicious, quality food with exceptional service!

We came here as this restaurant is offering 50% off food for the whole if September to celebrate their 19th anniversary. We had lamb chops and grilled chicken wings to start. The chops were delicious and slightly charred and the chicken was succulent. We had railway lamb and dhaba chicken with rice and roti for our main course. The railway lamb was the star of the meal. It tasted like an authentic homemade curry and the meat was tender. The chicken curry was tasty but I would have preferred thigh meat to breast, but this us just a personal preference. We had a lovely bottle of Carmenere but they also serve a good choice of beer and soft drinks. The service was very attentive and welcoming. You will need to download the NHS Covid 19 app as you have to scan it upon entering. The tables were well spaced and we felt that covid safety precautions were being followed. They are offering 30% off food only for the whole of Oct, so I suggest you book a table if you love Indian food.

The very humble doorway nearly put me off, but I could see a decent looking meal being eaten through the window. I am so pleased I took a table, as the meal really was excellent. The servers are quite casual, and the furniture is very humble, it doesn’t appear to be fine dining. But the servers were polite and quick and the food? Really excellent. A generous portion with each dish, chicken cooked to perfection , and reasonably priced (especially given that this is a premium location). Ice cold Cobra and very well seasoned, decent cutlery and nice quality napkins. I will be heading here again.

Firstly the staff seem to be illegals, perhaps Bangladeshi, I was hungry and wanted a quick bite to eat. Upon arrival was shown to my table and then approached and asked yes, as if I were in a detention centre. There was also a pungent odour in this restaurant too. I ordered vegetarian food which was cold the curry was mushy, just not nice and to top it all was incredibly pricey considering this is canteen food by their own admission. What will never let me set foot is the attitude problem these people have, zero customer care, no wonder it was empty. They have a complex when they see other Asian people who are mannered, this threatens them to behave in an illiterate and third class manner. Keep your restaurant, plenty other places to frequent. Avoid this place people.

I am a business traveller with a passion for Asian food and always seek out independent restaurants. I score out of 10 based on food alone and naturally reserve the highest score for the illusive perfect meal. I have only a handful of 9s which are located in the UK and overseas but tonight I found another! I visited two nights in a row. Delhi Grill bills itself as Indian Street Food but its way more than that. The food has hints of India, Pakistan, Malaysia and the Caribbean. The kebabs were probably the best I have ever tasted and the Dhaba Chicken was lightly but beatifully spiced with a really pleasent kick. The Railway Lamb was awesome, lamb on the bone simply fell off and the wet sauce put me in mind of the best Malaysian curry I have ever had at another of my 9s (Mamak in Sydney). Delhi Grill has apparently been going for 10 years, it is Clearly popular and with good reason. Its now firmly on my list. Welcome to my 9 list Delhi Grill!

Whatever we tried was amazing! All the ingredients were tasty and matched perfectly with each other. If you have a low tolerance for spicy food then it is your place, as it was quite manageable for people with little experience is that type of cuisine. The service was great.

I made the mistake of asking a waiter about the quantity of one of the dishes we’d ordered and got an aggressive slap down comment telling me to “read the menu”. It was true that I had missed that there were two items not one so all was well but I didn’t deserve the dressing down. Judging by the demeanour of the individual he clearly shouldn’t be in a customer facing position. Overall the food was fine but it’s hard to recommend based on the overall experience.

I’m a fan of Indian cuisine but admittedly I am a novice to it. I had been told that Indian food in London is the best. I can confirm that this is true. Delhi Grill did not disappoint and delivered a memorable and enjoyable dining experience. I tried a few things I never had before and loved the flavors and mingling of spices. A perfect blend of heat, savory, and sweet notes. I ordered the spicy butter chicken with basmanti rice. It was rich and flavorful and had just the right amount of heat to it. Perfection. I also enjoyed some naan bread and poppadoms ( a light cracker that reminded me of an unsalted Munchos) with a flight of five delicious chutneys. I ate a really good meal and couldn’t try a dessert because I was really full. Their desserts sounded amazing, but there was no more room in my stomach for them. The staff were very friendly and cordial. They made me feel very welcome and I really appreciated that. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you find yourself in the Islington Green area of London.

Great food & a warm welcome. Everything from the veg samosas to my chicken biryani was excellent. It’s tucked away 5 mins walk from Angel Islington- so a great place to eat pre film or theatre - we went before heading on to Sadlers Wells which is less than 10 mins walk away. Good good, fresh flavours and very reasonably priced. We’ll be back

I visited this restaurant as it was one of best Indian recommendations in TimeOut. However, I was disappointed. It was an average Indian restaurant in London but definitely not one of the best as TimeOut says. For a person with no experience of the real flavours of North Indian food, this might impress them but I found the flavours and textures not quite there in this restaurant. The menu was pleasantly a short one, giving one an impression the restaurant specialises in food from a certain part of India. However, if the chefs aren’t able to reproduce the flavours and textures of North Indian food, of which they are supposed to be experts, I will seriously doubt the origins and skills of the chef. We ordered cocktails which were just ok. For food we ordered pav bhaji, fish fry, chicken curry and chilli prawns. All of them were just mediocre and the dishes did not taste as they were supposed to.

My ex partner and I moved to the area for the simple pleasure of having Delhi Grill nearby. We were not disappointed and were regulars with a craving for makhani and pani puri. Flash forward and I’m now living in Australia and miss the makhani more than the man I moved in with ! From the other side of the world, I crave the delicious food served by the Delhi grill team and can’t wait to one day return for what will be a very long awaited feast !

Delhi Grill is a great restaurant that makes fantastic food. Their spicy fish tikka is amazing, the samosa chaat is delightful, and my wife is addicted to the chicken makhani. The staff is always accommodating and I love the vibe. We’ve been to many Indian restaurants in London, and I can tell ya Delhi Grill always hits the spot!

I’m kicking myself that Ive just discovered this superb Indian cafe as I visit Chapel Market weekly. The food is delicious and fantastic value. We particularly enjoyed the samosa chaat and the lamb chops. We’ll be back to try the rest of the menu. Tasty, unpretentious, everyday winner,

We booked as this was near to Sadlers Wells Theatre. Ot did not look much outside but was interesting inside. A small menu so easier to order. The food was amazing. We were 2 vegetarians and I carnivore. We could not ha e asked for a better meal. The waiter was so helpful. I had a glass of wine. This was also a good wine. I am often worried as red wine, in restaurants, can be bitter. The wine was perfect. Next time we go to Sadlers We'll We will definitely be visiting this restaurant. A very good find. High recommended

Fine food located on a good street of fine food. The meal we had was spot on as advertised — good lamb (not great, but good), and a good starter. I’d probably try other places nearby first, but it was good.
