stopped here for lunch, very popular and very busy but with efficient staff, queues are minimal. Lots to choose from, we had red thai soup with bread rolls and sat in the cafe to eat.

After my first encounter with Pret A Manger (PaM) in New York, I followed it up in Boston. Then I saw it here again and the name and the good experience just stuck in the food bank memory. Then I learned that PaM actually originated here. It is not surprising to see that there is a PaM in just almost... More

This is a really nice chain in London when you've tired of Starbucks. This was recommended by a friend who lives in one of the pricey hi rise apartments near here. This is a good place for a quick lunch as there is no waiting for service as it's premade. Fast food done better.

Visited as I was in the area and needed a quick stop off. Staff friendly and informative of local area. Fast service. Busy but found a seat. Some Pret's feel cosy and have areas where you can almost sneak and hide. This does not. Pretty much open plan but tidy, so cannot complain. Toilets are not clear. Better signage would... More

I only drink decaff coffee, and am often really disappointed wit what I get. Not at this branch of Pret. A lovely cup of coffee and a fantastic warm almond croissant - I guess freshly baked. Such a treat.

I eat here most days, creature of habit. Great staff, always so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble either.

Consistent and decent quality of sandwiches, for a chain. When they started several years back they were a major improvement on what was typically on offer. Now of course there is much more competition and there are many independents that offer better stuff. My point here is about coffee. A meaningless amorphous froth deposited on a bitter, aroma-less brown liquid.... More

Fresh is an important characteristic of the foods serve here, some very imaginative. We've, in a few visits, enjoyed various, (some imaginative with others standard) soups including sag aloo (L3.25/$5) red chili, ginger garlic diced onions, fresh spinach, potatoes, curry spices and creamy yogurt with broth; in the sandwich direction I had a tasty salmon and cream cheese croissant, for... Traveling with two picky, privileged grandchildren in Europe but when we encountered this place, all was well again. The sandwiches were fresh, abundant, and welcomed after lots of "strange things" put into sandwiches elsewhere. Quick service, great desserts, and breads. We wanted it everywhere in France but never found another except in London. Try it!

I don't visit pret very often and each time I do I remember why not. Why must they serve coffee in paper cups when I am eating in, and why charge more for the food when eating in when they don't give you anything else, like a plate. Having said that the food is good and as a take away... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
