This place used to have amazing food and atmosphere; always being busy as a result of their creative plant-based dishes. Now it has changed hands and stopped being a vegan restuatant, it's just basic lettuce & carrot salad, pizza or pasta for vegan options -...you get better [and more] vegan options at most other restuarants. Only went for a drink but what a disorganised mess! We turned up and 3 of the staff were trying to work something out on the POS system right in front of us. Ignored us completely until I got fed up and asked if we...could actually order something. Before I talk about timings, the place was not mega busy. I’d be more understanding if it was. All we wanted was Earl Grey and breakfast teas. The person taking my order looked like he’s never heard of Earl Grey and, unsurprisingly, we got 2 breakfast teas! I didn’t even bother trying to get another one as it took close to 10 minutes just to bring these to us and I don’t have a whole evening to be waiting for a pot of tea. On top of that, no milk, so had to ask for it separately. Now trying to pay! Standing at the bar for 10 minutes trying to do that as no one bothered to come to the table. Then one of the staff starts pointing at our table, saying that we left without paying the bill until I pointed out to him that that’s exactly what I’m trying to do and not very successfully! Such a poorly run operation, just looking behind the bar tells you everything - absolute chaos, dishcloths and dirty glasses everywhere, I’ve not seen anything that disorganised in a while! Jon Taffer would have had a field day! The only reason I’m giving this two stars is due to one of the staff who seemed to have a clue about what was going on and was very apologetic. They served me arancini which was frozen inside. The guy came back ten minutes later to confirm that the food was indeed frozen (it felt a bit strange that he came back to tell me). Throughout the whole interaction, the guy just did not care...at all. He vaguely asked if I wanted anything else and recommended I didn't order the same thing again because it would take too long, then went off to do other things. Then I had to go up and ask him for a refund, but he didn't give back the 12.5% service charge. I asked for it back and he refused and said it was included with the meal. Obviously, it didn't amount to much, but it hurt a bit to leave hungry and having paid for the service of a guy who didn't care.More
We had a booking at 6:15pm as we were going to a show. Although there were drinkers outside, we were the only people seated inside. Nothing on the menu related to the pictures we had seen on the website. No tacos or fries or lovely...looking salads. We ordered a pasta dish, a truffle and wild mushroom pizetta and a fennel and carrot salad. Food came to the table and was plonked down with not a word. The salad was dreadful. Limp and tasteless with no discernible dressing. A garlic bread (which we didn't order) arrived which we ate out of hunger and as we were in a rush. The truffle and wild mushroom pizetta never arrived. We complained and said we would only pay for the pesto pasta, which was ok but something I could probably make better at home. After a 10 minute discussion they finally realised they had made a mistake and did apologise profusely and we left. I do know times are tough for restaurants but really! This meal was terrible. I would have emailed my complaint to the management but there is no email on the website so have resorted to posting here.More
The food was very good and came quickly. Service all good too. We both really enjoyed every dish we ordered.
The food, ambience and staff are so wonderful in this restaurant! I have eaten at Power Plant on a few occasions and each time the food has been incredible. The experience was quite nice as we celebrated a 50th birthday. We enjoyed the casual approach of the staff and restaurant. The food was amazing however they ran out of a couple of things. The chef gave us a nice surprise as one of family...member didn't eat onion and garlic. Really appreciated it.More
Terrible experience. We waited for over 1,5 hours before giving up on our order as we had tickets to the Roundhouse. Service was lovely but they kept apologising until it became apparent we were never getting our food. Shame as the decor is cool but...they really need to sort out some serious issues…..More
Food here was nice and all plant based, I got a pad thai which was ok and my friends had the mixed grill which they said was really good. The hummus (£9) came with one half of pitta which I thought was a bit ridiculous...- we then asked for another pitta which was charged at £2. We asked for food recommendations and the waitress said she hadn't tried any of it, not a great look!! But the food was good and staff were nice - we went on a wednesday for the live jazz, but in the end it was a live singer songwriter - she was very good! But the people at the bar on laptops, and other people at dining tables on laptops made for quite a weird atmosphere for dinner. Wouldn't go again but did enjoy.More
Service could have been a lot better for a restaurant, a sit down order would have been a four star review however we had to order from the bar. Me and sister were originally going to order from the food menu as we pre looked...on their website the day before, when we got there we were disappointed with their limited lunch menu so I just stuck with olives which were very good. I agree with some of the other reviews on Tripadvisor, I felt like I was being watched every time I went to use the toilet with people sitting by the bar near the toilet door, almost felt like I was being harassed (I assume they were members of staff on laptops) other than that I think we will return but only for coffee & olives. We might return to try the evening menu which looks a lot better than the limited lunch menu who knows.More
The staff were apathetic and rude, making us feel unwelcome during our visit. When I walked in to meet my friend, I was met by strange looks from staff behind the bar and was not asked for booking, if I could be helped etc. The...food itself was fine but very pricey for what it was; I paid £12 for shakshuka, having had to buy my own gluten-free bread from Sainsburys next door. Nobody checked up on us, and when we went up to order some smoothies ourselves, the staff were resentful and made it seem like it was a massive burden on them (it was extremely quiet). The table near us also found the staff rude, lacking in humour and energy, and we waited 45 minutes for the bill before going up ourselves. As I left, another man was saying how he had waited an hour for the bill. Really disappointing overall and would not return.More
Went on a Sunday morning! Half the items not available for breakfast! Waiter unable to remember what was ordered… maybe write it down? Chef was wearing gloves could see him eating in the kitchen, then coming in and out of the kitchen with the same...gloves then to top it off he wiped his nose and beard with the same gloves, asked to speak to a manager… none there apparently! Absolutely rubbish shakshuka. Overcooked eggs and a tasteless sauce. To be honest it was a waste of money. There are a number of other things about this place that I want to raise with the manager!More
