Although the outside is interesting in itself, the large hall-like bar is incredible. Lined with wood and with lots of small booths. Above the bar are huge beer vats, pretty sure they are just decoration though! Very atmospheric when quiet. Good beer too.

Drinks after work with colleagues intended to stay for one ended up staying for hours, it was a Thursday night so tables were limited as it was very busy but ample standing room. It's very old fashioned in style 1920s era presume it's a listed building but this of course adds to the charm.

Visited this pub two weeks ago with my girlfriend as we were in London for the weekend. She absolutely loved it. Built in 1430, it still has the wooden barrels amd little booths where people probably held meetings. We didn't eat as we already had but the food looked really good. Lively friendly young crowd. great atmosphere and as it... More

I like to come to the Cittie of Yorke for a quick lunch - you get the food pretty quickly and it's decent value for money. Don't expect any haute cuisine, it is a pub after all :)

This pub is a must for any visitor to London. The interior is like stepping back in time, after the snugs on the way in, when you enter the main room at the back, look up, it's like the set of Les Mis! Amazing sight, don't actually understand the logic of building it that way but it sure is impressive.... More

Enjoyed lunch here with a pint of Sam Smiths bitter. It is much bigger inside than it looks on the outside just enter through the door way & keep walking. There are some nice 4 seat alcoves which give you private dining. They have a good range of food on the menu including several different pies In the middle of... More

Well located close to Grays Inn and High Holborn this is a Samuel Smiths pub with a fabulous interior which is worth a view. Comfortable sofas in the large front room with a real fire and alcoves in the lofty main room most of which seem to get taken early for business meetings and out of office discussions. Staff are... Lovely atmosphere, but very busy - probably as a result of recent positive publicity. Get there early to get a seat in one of the many 'snugs'.

Thanks to a BBC article on old London pubs and a great picture of the interior i decided to check it out on a recent visit to London. It is a bit like stepping back in time - an incredible interior , great booths to sit in anonymously, good choice of beer and good pub grub - and at reasonable... More
