Thanks to a BBC article on old London pubs and a great picture of the interior i decided to check it out on a recent visit to London. It is a bit like stepping back in time - an incredible interior , great booths to sit in anonymously, good choice of beer and good pub grub - and at reasonable... More

What, a, place!!! Incredible pub!!!! If you are nearby pop in here for a Taddy's larger - best beer in London... no doubt! The Princess Louise and Red Lion are ahead of this place but don't miss out on a session in here!!

if you want old London and atmosphere this is your place. Fantastic place, food is very very good, and just the ambience of the place draws you in. look up for the best scenery in a pub! sit in one of the booths and imagine what conversations have gone on there in the past! FANTASTIC!

Nice pub with good ambiance came here for lunch last week. I have the southern fried chicken burger which was very nice and my friend had the steak pie which she enjoyed. Only downside was that my friend ordered her pie with chips it came with mash by mistake this wasn't a problem as it is easily resolved but the... More

I love this pub While the drinks and food selection is standard, reasonably-priced Sam Smith's fare, this is a beautiful wood-paneled pub where (crucially!) it's almost always possible to get a seat. While the ground floor fills up quickly with city types at clocking off time, take a left turn down into the Cellar Bar and you'll pretty much have... More

Usually really enjoy this pub as there is a great selection of drinks and a warm atmosphere. This coupled with the historic venue itself usually make for a great evening. However on my last visit we encountered incredibly rude and unprofessional service at the bar. The manager no less shouted at one of our party and was most unwelcoming. Shortly... More

The most striking thing about the Cittie of York is the aesthetic; it is a gorgeous (listed) Edwardian style building with high ceilings, wood panelling and a fire in the centre of the room. As per Sam Smith's pubs it is cheaper than the average, selling Sam Smith's drinks almost exclusively. I tried the Double Four larger which I didn't... More

Been visiting here for years and it's always very busy, especially on a Friday night. Sam Smiths beer at reasonable prices. My tip is to try the Cellar bar as it's often less busy than the main bar and you'll get served a lot quicker than having to queue upstairs. Taddy lager is the best for lager drinkers wanting a... Not a part of town that I frequent but we were attending our Christmas Dept Event nearby and was recommended this pub What a great place Truly Friendly and efficient bar staff - considering how popular and packed this place was Even the people drinking here were in good spirits It's a Samuel Smith pub, so your options are limited... Very nice though with its long hall. Pleasantly busy and prompt service. I like Sam Smiths bitter and at £3.10 good value in Holborn Chancery Lane tube almost outside Although it looks and sounds medieval it's mainly 1920s.
