Tattu London
Review
About
Welcome to our Courtyard House. Our London concept was inspired by the traditional Chinese Courtyard House, a historic structure in which four residences would surround a beautiful central garden, blending residential opulence with the true beauty of the outside world. At the entrance gate to our courtyard dwelling, an ornate 'spirit screen' depicts our four mythical Tattu creatures, the Phoenix, Koi Carp, Dragon and Tiger. Superstition holds that these protective spirits bring good fortune to those that pass over our threshold. Unwind into our Outer Courtyard Terrace & Bar taking in unrivalled city views, journey through our Flower Hung Gate and onto the ornate pathway connecting each of our opulent dining room Residences. Each Residence opens out onto the stunning Inner Courtyard, where diners can watch the stars under our infamous cherry blossom and shelter from the sun under intricate timber awnings. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

The food is really excellent, with dishes prepared with great care and high quality ingredients, able to enhance every flavor. The location is equally beautiful, attention to detail and perfect for creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The staff is distinguished by courtesy and helpfulness, always attentive to the needs of customers and ready to advise with professionalism. An experience that leaves the desire to return to taste again the excellent cuisine and enjoy the impeccable hospitality.

Finally I can give a full review, it doesn't happen often...!
Because Tattu satisfies all the senses: the place is enchanting as you rarely get to see, truly great compliments to the architects/decorators.
And the food was simply excellent! There are various predefined menus but we opted to eat a la carte and there wasn't a single dish that didn't satisfy us: from dim sum to wagyu dumpling, from red belly pork to pulled pork gyoza to black cod and caramel soy beef…everything delicious!
Only two flaws, but small ones which did not prevent me from giving full marks: the initial drink was not as memorable as the rest, just as the terrace where we were seated for the aperitif does not have a setting remotely comparable to the beauty of the internal room. And towards the end of the evening a waiter started cleaning and setting a table near ours, which I find not very elegant for such a high level place, especially considering that at that point it was late, the place was now almost empty. and preparing that table therefore did not serve to welcome other guests until the following day.
But I repeat: wonderful experience to repeat and certainly recommend without the slightest hesitation!
Obviously we are talking about a place with a high bill, we paid £130 each

Arriving at the building and going through the doors was a lovely Receptionist who gave us a warm welcome. We received clear instructions as to which floor we needed. On exiting the lift, we were greeted by another lovely staff member whom took us through to the bar (we were half an hour early for our booking - intentional by-the-way) because we wanted to enjoy a cocktail before our meal. Bar staff were very warm and friendly and we enjoyed a Belini and an Old Fashioned. These were freshly made and beautifully presented - love the sphere ice! 😊 Views from the right hand side of the bar were pretty spectacular too.
Just a few minutes after our reservation, we were approached by yet another friendly member of staff whom took us to our table. We, unfortunately, were not seated under the blossom 😔 but views to the right of our table looked out over the London skyline. I was seated on a curve in the 'continual sofa' 🙄 and my husband's chair was squeezed in between two chairs (one to his right and one to his left). One of the reasons we've scored 4 stars. A tight and somewhat uncomfortable space to enjoy our meal - table was also far too small to accommodate all our dishes, glasses, etc. Our ordered bottle of wine was also placed in a cooler far from our table so we were unable to refill our own glasses when we wanted. We had to rely on a staff member approaching our table for a refill. This definitely needs reviewing by management - this clearly shows how tight the tables were.
Moan nearly over ...
What we both agree on was the fabulous service, exciting and tantalising food and show-stopping cocktails! Utterly superb - we ordered far too much (like always) so didn't manage to finish everything. Such a shame.
Moan back on ...
Behind me was a table of drunk and rather obnoxious guests (a table of around 10) calling out, shouting out and ordering the staff around. Not pleasant to listen to especially the 'varied' and 'colourful' language which could clearly be heard by many other guests too. Not sure if the waiter was promised a 'massive' tip on top of the 'service charge' because he did absolutely nothing to stop the continual '*******' which ruined our night!! Shame.
The view from my toilet was amazing ... such a good use of space and window!
Suming up ... selfish guests, that were not controlled, spoilt our evening and staff did nothing about it.
Not sure we would return for this reason.

Had the set menu before 6pm, which at first appears good value - as the restaurant is lovely to look at but we found the food and service lacking. Lots of previous reviews praise the service but ours was very disjointed with various waiters talking away and delivering plates but it seemed that nobody was assigned to look after us at our table. It took a long time for our plates to be cleared after finishing and nobody asked us if we would like any more drinks, which at roughly £20 a cocktail would soon stack up. It felt as though the staff were more interested in those tables arriving after 6pm that were spending £100+ per head on the a la carte menu rather than having any time to serve us. Our food was ok but nothing memorable. Set menu still worked out at £70 per head with only 1 drink each and including 15% automatic service charge. We were glad we hadn’t spent more than that to experience the restaurant - the view of the cherry blossom and interior decor was the highlight.

The GM Pierre Nels is probably the worst person for a customer service role and manager of a team. We were all given a menu by the staff for brunch which had an option for 3 waves of food and cocktails, we chose that option and menus were taken back excluding one menu that we kept for drink options. The food came it was tiny!! We noticed one of the waves of food stated in our brunch packages hant yet arrived so we asked where this was, they said they will bring it out, they brought one tiny cup full of prawn crackers (4 small ones that could fit in my hand) between 6 of us, we was confused so asked if this was it, the GM said we have to pay extra for this as it’s not on the menu, we said it was and he argued with us calling us liars I was honestly so so taken back, he then proceeded to show us a completely different menu to what we was given and continued to call us liars. Thankfully we had one of the original menus given to us to I showed him we was correct and of course not lying! He then took the menu off me and ripped it up in front of our faces it was honestly so appalling. He then said he’ll take the prawn cracker charge off our bill, whole thing was weird. Even worse I mentioned that the rice we were given was so dry and like pellets and said maybe it had been sat under the light to keep warm for too long as it was inedible. He jumped down my throat before I could even finish the feedback and said no no no!! It hadn’t been sat under any light you probably have rice from the very bottom of the pan!!!! As if that was okay!!!?? I then said the cocktails were so small and had little to no alcohol in it, he stormed off and sent a waiter to deal with us after fully rowing with me when all we wanted to do was feedback on the quality of food. I did not expect to be called a lair told we have old rice served to us and the menu ripped up infront of our faves at the table all we wanted was a nice brunch for my friends birthday. The waiter Th en said she has been told to take the service charge off!! The GM sacrificed the poor waiters tips rather than removing the food cost or atleast some of it to make up for what was actually wrong. We tipped the waiter in cash as it was totally not fair and paid full price for our horrendous experience and food. We left with all the drinks still on the table and it ruined my friends birthday I just can’t believe how we were treated

The restaurant looks nice very style over substance. Took ages to get a drink wine is really pricey and they do not leave the bottle near the table so you do not know what’s going on with your wine or where it is. Service was slow food I ordered didn’t all come to the table but was on the bill. Squid really overcooked duck chewy and inedible, no sauces no soy sauce no dips all really average you are definitely paying for location and decor not the food or service. There are much better places to eat in London 12.5% service on every bill too so they know they do not need to give decent service to still make tips’!

Unfortunately I can’t recommend Tattu, it does have its positives, which I’ll get to later.
There’s no denying the restaurant has the wow factor, it looks amazing. The music was fantastic and it had a really good atmosphere. Unfortunately when we sat down we said we don’t want to rush as we wanted 4 courses, but we were told no, you have to order, and order everything at once, and your table must be vacated after 1h 45mins.
The next table then told us how rude the waitress had been, and that they were also rushed. They ordered their meal and within 10 mins had their starters, and 5 mins later, whilst still eating the starters, they were given their main courses. They were really displeased and said they’d be speaking to the Manager.
The duck pancakes were good, we also had the sticky beef rib starter which was fairly good.
For the main course we had the angry chicken which I really enjoyed. The caramel beef fillet though was a small portion and really lacked any flavour. The noodles are lovely and a huge portion, as was the jasmine rice.
The cocktails are very expensive and don’t hold much alcohol, also the wine was pricey and really not very good.
All in all, I felt it was very style over substance. It looked great, but for a £300 meal we expected much better service, and food! We won’t be going back sadly, we were excited by the restaurant, but I think there’s much better out there for a better price.

I am surprised that this restaurant has such good reviews. The food was nothing special. I expected more for this price point to be honest. Definitely not real asian food. The squid was chewy, clearly cooked from frozen (which you wouldn’t expect from a high classed restaurant). The noodles are pre-made and just re-heated. The taste of the food was either too salty or too sweet. Our server Lin was incredibly rude from the very start. The wine was the only nice thing about this. I am so disappointed and will never come anywhere near this place in the future. I am sure that I couldn’t have eaten better in Chinatown for half of the price and the atmosphere would have been much nicer without a rude waitress.

Our recent visit to Tattu London was very disappointing. It took a long time for our food order to be taken, and when the food finally arrived, the chicken was extremely dry and chewy, almost like leftovers. It was nearly inedible.
The waitstaff did not check on us during our meal to see if everything was okay. The cocktails were also poor. We told the manager, Ian, that we liked fruity and tangy drinks with strong alcohol, but I received a cocktail that tasted like lemonade. When I sent it back and asked for something fruity, I was given a bubblegum-flavored drink, which was not what I wanted.
The worst part of the evening was when I tried to take some pictures in the bathroom. Ian approached me in a very aggressive manner, invading my personal space and shouting at me to turn off the light. Whilst going down in the lifts another guests said to us “did he tell you to turn off the lights” I said yes, she then said “well I had my lights on and he saw me and didn’t say anything” I was pretty shocked and know for fact that I was being targeted. Some people seem to have the privilege to break the rules but I seem to not be apart of that group. This behaviour was unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable.
In the end, we couldn’t finish our meal due to the poor quality of the food and the upsetting service. Our experience at Tattu London was terrible, and we will not be returning. This place needs serious improvement in both food and service.

We had high hopes for this restaurant, and while the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were attentive, the experience fell short of expectations. The tasting menu started off well, but dishes began to arrive too quickly and all at once. Typically, a tasting menu offers a curated flow of small dishes throughout the meal, but here we were met with a flurry of starters followed by a substantial main course that felt more suited to a standard restaurant in Chinatown than a fine dining experience.
The food itself was well-prepared, and you can’t fault the quality. However, at £127 per person, it simply wasn’t worth the steep price tag. To make matters worse, the dessert was a single portion meant to be shared, which felt stingy given the cost. The meal concluded with an “additional treat” accompanied by a message — we received “Happy Anniversary” and “Happy Birthday,” which were completely irrelevant and left us feeling that little attention was paid to personalizing the experience.
I was prepared to share this feedback when asked how we found the meal, but surprisingly, no one even inquired about our experience. Overall, it felt like a disappointing value for money. The Sunday lunch option, priced at a third of what we paid, seemed to offer much more. We left feeling ripped off and, unfortunately, wouldn’t return.

I feel so stupid to have fallen for all the good reviews. I have travelled and eaten well and widely, and franckly I should have known better. This place is ridiculous. The service and atmosphere are inauthentic and the food is ridiculously over-priced. We ordered way too much too, following the staff’s recommendations. The desserts are the worst part, gimmicky tricks with awful taste. You can have a Michelin star meal for these prices. After your meal the staff actually request that you leave a good review and give you a card with a qr code to do so easily. Hence the large amount of reviews. This is not a classy place and I am kicking myself for having gone. Well, live and learn.

So we were staying in the hotel below, the Chateau Denmark for 1 week. Which was amazing.
We dined out on our first evening at the hotel at the Tattu restaurant on top floor.
The menu was not explained to us atall. We chose a wave menu at £128 per person, this looked like a set menu, and we all chose one thing each out each section. At no point were we told this is not how the menu works. By the end we had had very little food and was told by the waiter that we were getting charged al a carte prices on individual dishes.
We were flabbergasted as it became apparent we had missed out on many many courses! The Egyptian waiter struggled accent wise but he was a lovely chap and we got the manager out to rectify the whole confusion.
Out strutted Amir. No eye contact. Cheeky. Rude. Obnoxious. And my Son actually heard him say "I just want your money " as he stormed off in a tantrum. How this man is a manager of this beautiful restaurant is beyond my comprehension. I'm assuming he must be family to owners as he is rude and abrupt!
Amir has a serious attitude problem. How he thinks he can act like this big diva to paying customers is bizarre. The restaurant and food we got to try was gorgeous but definitely ask for everything to get explained to you and if you have to deal with Amir... pity help you.

Unfortunately the service was rude and the prices were crazy - let me tell you why…
We arrived twenty minutes early and were asked if we would like a drink in the bar before going to our table which we accepted. Mariana asked if we would like some crackers to go with our cocktail - yes please - they look lovely! Cocktails arrived (my old fashioned was £29 and less than a mouthful). Crackers never arrived. After 10 minutes we chased Mariana up for the crackers “sorry - I had a lot going on” then came back with them and said we must go to our table as we were now eating into our time. I mentioned how small the cocktail was and she dismissively said “they can be hit or miss”. We were seated and waited 20 minutes for our server Ling. She was very pleasant but recommend two starters each for a medium appetite, 3 if you were hungry - but they were £30 each!! Unfortunately it just felt like this restaurant was taking the mickey out of us and I really didn’t want to give them any more money so we got the bill and left. Shame as the food looked good. I don’t mind paying top dollar for dinner but it felt like a money extracting sausage machine.

After dining in other city’s TATTU restaurants having great experiences we thought we would try there flagship in London.
There as all are very keen to push there cocktails which usually are yes expensive but can be very nice and luxurious.
The service as with all of the chain is good, I would say Manchester is the best high level table service, here there was a good level of service but waiters and waitresses were overlapping asking the same questions . I have to add the restaurant was rammed busy.
The good stops right there.
The food is obviously batch cooked, our duck came luke warm and tough over cooked that had been stood for ages.
The rice and noodles tasted odd and burnt
Two other dishes cool and tasteless.
When we complained the duck was then exchanged and came back perfect, the other dishes where left 1/4 eaten. The lady manager really couldn’t care less, we were offered free deserts which we refused but they insisted, cue cool coffee and soggy brandy snap deserts. Unbelievably poor food with the only excuse made was it’s a new menu and our staff are getting to grips with it. Price on bill £320.
I would avoid at all costs as there are other much lower key food chains offering much better tasting food.

It's very cool. Thumping techno, mood lighting and eclectic design all cocoon you as you tuck into pan-Asian sharing plates.
Its expensive, gimmicky expensive, but the food is very good, the cocktail list inventive and as a celebration, for clients, or a treat its a great option. This is a place to be seen and indulge. A nice alternative to Sushi Samba, Hakkasan, Yauatcha and arguably better food...
