Etta is the perfect hostess. Food was lovely. Particularly enjoyed the fish curry and the fish cakes. Loved the rum cocktail and finished off with delicious banana fritters. Definitely a gem in Brixton Market.

Delicious food, we had the sea bass and seafood curry, both were so aromatic and delicious without being overly rich or too big a portion size. Lovely, polite service and a general feeling that this restaurant is an under the radar hidden gem of wonderful,...authentic Caribbean seafood that cares more about its customers enjoying the produce than sycophantic reviews like thisMore
Really charming restaurant with a great selection of Jamaican food, beautiful present and lots of flavour with something for everyone, depending of their dietary needs. The restaurant is located in the Brixton Village so you would need to use the toilet for the site, the...restaurant doesn’t have one like all the other premises in the site.More
I absolutely adore this restaurant. Great food, lovely people and the best seafood curry I’ve ever had. Food is delicious and the staff are wonderful.
I arrived late on a Sunday evening. Etta was eating her dinner, other places would have seen me as an inconvenience, but not here. Welcoming, friendly and nothing too much trouble. Had THE best ginger beer I’ve ever tasted and then the brown curry fish...which was simply beautiful. Freshly cooked, wonderfully spicy and vibrant, just like the cook. Cash only here which is no problem with nearby cash machines. Reasonable pricing for such great food. Well worth the visit.More
First time here and what a joy. Most portions aren't huge, but the food is delicious. I wanted to try a bit of everything so ordered the seafood platter, which is £26 with a glass of prosecco, not quite sure why but it does, and...it was nice. The platter was great, and you get some ackee too and plantain. My wife and friend ordered the tuna and mussels which were both good but not huge portions. the mac and cheese were superb too. 100% we'll be backMore
We were recommended this place for good fish and chips, after 40 mins of waiting we got frozen chips from iceland and two small chunks of battered cod. the worst fish and chips ever tasted. The waitress was TERRIBLE with a huge attitude on her...shoulders, looked at us with distaste when ordering. don't ask what is in the vegetarian dish the answer will be 'Vegetable' and a stare. Don't bother with this place, bad service, bad food, bad attitude. and not cheap.More
Visited on a hot summer night for a bite to eat Menu looked good so took a seat. Was bought a lovely big bottle of cold water and glasses while we chose settled on a Fish brown stew and pumpkin and sweet potato curry. Both...dishes were cooked fresh and tasted amazing. Service was perfect relaxed but attentive plenty of cold water and cold red stripe. Overall a lovely meal will recommend and returnMore
We first found Etta’s Kitchen four years ago. Between the Ackee and Saltfish, Sorrel drinks and Salmon Ceviche we knew we had found a special place. Beyond the food, however, Etta is one of the most fabulous people we’ve met. She has a warmth that...could heat an igloo in a blizzard. Visiting Brixton for the first time in four years today, we were worried the pandemic may have taken this beloved place but Etta was there with hugs to greet. Today we had Soft Crab curry, Salmon Ceviche, Mac ‘n Cheese, lemonade, and rum punch. It is the finest meal we’ve had in ages and we have had many fine meals in those ages. The curry sauce was perfection. There was not a weak link - everything was as perfect as could be - even the lemonade was sublime. We cannot recommend Etta’s enough. If there is a better restaurant in London, is hasn’t yet opened.More
Well….service friendly….all fish disappointedly from frozen packets. Calamari, a bit rubbery with no discerning spice. Salt fish fritters, ok, not quite enough fish and a slight undercooked floury texture and taste. Neither came quite hot enough. Scallop with lime dressing, tiny portion, mainly leaves, a...little avocado and tomato. Scallops the size of 1p pieces- shocking value at £13.50! Not quite sure if it’s changed hands since previous reviewers or we ordered the poorer dishes? Certainly not somewhere we would revisit.More
This is truly a gem in the middle of Brixton! My teenage son was scraping his plate. This is one of the few if not only seafood Jamaican restaurants specializing in seafood. It’s, fresh and tasty with just the right amount of fire. We ordered...fish fritters, pepper shrimp and calamari for appetizers and it was ver tasty. Our main dishes included curry seafood and salt fish and ackeee and festival. We loved it all. It was so delicious the service was superb!More
I took my mother in her late 80’s for her birthday - they just showed her so much love and respect. Their not fast, or slow, but human. And the service, human too - they are themselves in a good and quirky way - these...ladies (and gent) different. And the food, top notch! Blessed people, I would definitely recommend food, service (you have to get it) and that you go there. Blessed people that you should bless - they care. It’s in the subtleties you might miss. It was a good choice for me and my family. My mum had nothing but love! And so did we!More
The seafood curry was the best thing I have eaten in Brixton. I can't believe I have waited this long to try Etta's. Lovely service, great drinks and incredible food. As a local I will be going A LOT.
Our first visit- we were blown away by the lovely warm welcome & friendly staff, and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back.
Are you sick of how sterile Brixton has become? Are you fed up of the bouje boring lack of authenticity Brixton now possess? Well you clearly haven’t been to Etta’s! My wife and I are both huge seafood fans and more importantly connoisseurs of the...best vibes life can give. Etta’s was perfect, the lobster Mac n cheese was BANGING…the brown stew was BANGING, Etta was AMAZING. Such good quality everything, food, service, price. Holistically everything was so on point that I can not fault at all. I think my wife might actually love me after taking her there, it was that good. Go. Before the Hondo tower ruins everything.More
