I was meeting a couple of friends for an evening meal in London when one of them suggested this place in East London. It is quite a distance from Central, with the nearest station Aldgate East, just off Whitechapel Road. The restaurant has an African / Indian twist but satisfies neither. I found the food to be very average and... More

Nipped in here after a lovely afternoon in the Brick Lane area. Food was very average and then I visited the toilets and can honestly say I would have not eaten here if I would have gone downstairs first. The stairs were disgustingly filthy and one toilet didn't even flush and it was obvious it had not just been broke... More

Braai, meaning roasted meat. The restaurant decor is actually quite tasteful and African theme. The menu is very simple but brilliant value for money and very tasty. This place offers tasty African food, mainly halal meats. Loved their peri peri chicken and steak. Though steak was a bit chewy and not like traditional steaks but still it tasted delish. The... My husband eventually managed to persuade me into this restaurant despite being seconds away from Brick Lane and my favourite 'Indian' food. I am so glad he did! Great steak and burgers with wonderful hot African sauces. Despite not serving alcohol there was a choice of delicious and unusual African soft drinks. Friendly service too. A no frills place with... I was recomended to this place but the food to my taste was quite average. nothing special. however I would say they do good steak and the price is also not too bad. There are better places though.

Very disappointed first time I went here and didn't expect it to be the way it is, the Walthamstow branch is way better. Menu was completely different compared to the other branch which I found strange? It's the same company so why the different menu? The steak doesn't come with chips you have to buy on th side but the... More

A brilliant restaurant especially for steaks. The food is fantastic, the T Bone is the best I've ever had in a restaurant the sauce they use to marinate it in is something very special! The starters are great as well, the congo chicken wings live long in the memory! The blue mango mocktail they have is an absolutely brilliant combination... More

The food was delicious. I have never had beef so soft and well cooked. I had a beef kebab with lots of lovely and crispy fries. The starter of ciabatta with that delicious tomato dipping sauce was so good! We were in London for another day but I was so tempted to take that sauce home with me! You have... More

Always come here with friends or family. If you're concerned about whether food is halal or not, definitely come here as they are HMC approved. I'm a sucker for the chicken related meals!

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
