Located just off Grosvenor Square (entrance on South Audley Street) in the heart of Mayfair, 34 has become a modern-day classic since it opened in November 2011. Burned orange banquettes, oak parquet and a colourful contemporary art collection give the room a warm and inviting look, highlighted by the bespoke charcoal grill in the open kitchen. The grill, also known as a parrilla and fed by natural fuels, was custom-made and imported from Argentina. Head Chef, John Edwards has developed an eclectic menu, using the grill not only for beef, but also for seasonal game, fish and shellfish. "Lobster mac" is a perennial favourite, and there is a wide variety of salads and lighter dishes for the less

Visited for lunch with family. The waiter was friendly, but had to ask for sparkling water 4 times. Food was average - the bacon was overcooked and over seasoned. My son’s brunch food was a decent portion, however the rest of our party had mediocre...food portions. When the bill came I queried the £2 per person cover charge and was told it was a company policy charge that covered the cost for the flowers on the table! Whilst this is a small sum of money, the total cover charge for our table more than covered way more than the cost for a flower that I hadn’t taken any notice off! Remove the flowers from the table and remove the cover charge! Food was taken over priced. Wouldn’t visit here againMore

Where to start…overall the food is good and the atmosphere is chic. However, the manager is one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered. Everything was going fine until we had finished our mains and were waiting for the dessert menu when a manager approached...the table and told my mum that we actually couldn’t have dessert because the other booking had arrived…when we were shocked and clearly confused he told us that we could have our desserts at the bar. I was very confused as our reservation was at 19.30 which, according to opentable’s policy, meant we had the table for 2 hours. At this point it was not even 21.00. So, having checked this I got visibly upset and asked him to explain this, to which obviously he could not and began saying things like “yes I know but”… are you kidding me? Oh also, the table next to us who had been sitting there before we even got there was not told this. So I told him it’s the policy and you are required to follow this. Seeing how upset we became and understanding his mess up he retracted and left for a bit. I then asked for the man’s name and seeing that he came back with a box of chocolate? (The audacity!!). I told him I was not leaving until 21.30 and he began apologizing telling me I was right (?) in the end he brought us the dessert menu and with the bill brought us his business card…yeah I’m speechless- as if I’d ever go back lol. He also told my mum that next time we come to call him so we can stay all evening. So I guess the lesson is that don’t go if you don’t want to ruin your evening dealing with an embarrassing of a man that calls himself a manager. Also don’t go if you don’t know a manager and avoid booking via OpenTable because clearly you won’t get the same treatment. TERRIBLE.More

Average steak with the worst service I’ve experienced. All the employees are rude and arrogant, and not one of them had a smile on their face. They brought the cocktails we ordered first after the food arrived - that’s how bad the service is. The...£100+ porterhouse steak is average at best - pubs serve better steaks for a fraction of the price. I was there to celebrate my birthday - the management was shameful enough to charge us £20 for a small birthday cheesecake. I will never return or recommend this restaurant.More

Nice selection of starters and salads. The Argentinian beef was as good as any and cooked as ordered. The brussel sprouts were quite flavorful and roasted crispy. Decent selection of deserts and drinks. A little pricey but the service is good.

I booked a table here on a Sunday in December. When we arrived we were seated at the bar and had to wait 30 minutes for our table of two to be ready. Other guests entered the restaurant after us and were seated to their...table first. However whilst waiting at the bar the customer service from the bartenders was exceptional! Thank you! When ordering drinks at the table, the waiter did not know anything about the drinks menu. So the bartenders made us two special cocktails instead! We then had to get the attention of a waiter to take our food order, in which he apologised. We both ordered the Sunday roast. Outstanding. Compliments to the chefs! When asking for the bill it was not the correct one. It felt like there was no structure in the restaurant. Thank you to the bartenders and chefs though!More

I booked this restaurant for Christmas because I had seen how beautiful the decorations were on Instagram. Sadly, when we visited the decorations were not as spectacular as they have been previously. The food was good, I had the lobster Mac and cheese and my...partner had the steak. We both enjoyed our meals but thought that the food was overpriced.More

Very bad customer experience! We were waiting for more than 25 minutes standing in front of the door for our pre booked table while at the same time there were a few available tables! Average quality of food! Bill with minor but still mistakes! Overpriced!

Everything about our Sunday lunch time visit was off. Unattentive staff, table right next to the door that kept letting cold air in, missing the expected spectacular Christmas decorations. The food was good but nothing special. We decided to get dessert somewhere else.

An utterly horrendous experience. I booked my table for 7 pm, but I was not seated until 7.30 pm and I was told I must wait outside in the freezing (-1 degree) London weather as the bar was full due to them being a disorganised...chaotic mess! Not once did they apologise for the delay, showing poor manners and inattentiveness from the start of the evening. When we finally got sat 30 minutes later, the staff had attitude regarding a task so simple as taking our coats to the cloakroom, in the end, I left the coats on our chair due to feeling awkward by her rude tone of voice. Half the items on the menu were unavailable and the steaks that we did order were a bad imitation of the cheapest-worst quality steaks you can imagine. They forgot to bring our side sauces, yet contrastingly were quick to rush us and ask if we had finished our meal when we were still eating and only had been sat for 40 minutes (they operate with a 2-hour table policy). The fifth time they rushed us, the waitress explained it was as they needed the table, I had to remind her we still had time and that our 2-hour slot at the table would not include the delay their tardiness caused- You can’t make up incompetence like this. When the bill arrived , I politely asked for them to take the discretionary service charge off, as quite frankly the service was vile. She retorted back rudely asking why, and I proceeded to list my many reasons. She said she would discuss it with her manager, unfortunately she must not understand what 'discretionary' means. In the end, we left dissatisfied with the food and service, and still hungry, the only thing in abundance was their attitude. Still, at no point did they apologise for the delay and further errors in the dining experience. On their website, they state - "Each guest is accommodated, every detail is considered, and a spirit of openness and inclusion is extended to all", I would highly urge the team to reconsider this sentence and many others that describe the experience restaurant guests will receive at this restaurant, it is not transparent and highly inaccurate. As if our experience there had not been unpleasant enough, it seems the produce in their kitchen was off as my friend was sick for the rest of the evening. A completely overpriced, overhyped poor excuse for a restaurant. In a city like London where there is no shortage of aesthetic, high-quality restaurants, it baffles me how this place is still running. The Christmas decor is nowhere as good as it used to be. While there are many words I could use to describe 34 Mayfair, I’m going to say only this: go anywhere else! Nobody should pay this much money to be disappointed.More
