Almost directly across the street from the Hilton, London Bridge, this is an interesting looking establishment. Seems to stay busy and the food is ok. I will say we came in near the end of the night, so people working seemed a bit tired. But it was fun and it really is a cool pub.

Went in for a drink with friends who all bought alcoholic beverages, I asked for a tap water and wasn't allowed one as I hadn't purchased a drink which is ridiculous so my friend ordered one for me and then was told off for giving it to me. The staff (older woman in particular, presumably the manager) were incredibly rude... More

Popped in here many a time to start a London pub crawl, loads of lagers and beers on tap. Fast service for a very busy pub, loads of room in side and out. Pop by, check it out. Food looked good as well!!

Lets be clear this is not a fancy place - yet it has history/character. With the continual change around the London Bridge area its a good thing that a place like the "Shipwrights" is still around. A highlight for me was the original tiles depicting the work of people in the Docks from a bygone era ! The drinks were... More

Have been here a number of times. The pub is old fashioned and not trendy so if you are looking for All Bar One or something similar - go somewhere else. Bar staff are excellent and friendly and manage the busy bar very well. Have been there with my dog and the staff are always lovely and come to see... More

This place is close to the London Bridge Station which is nice. It was packed the night i was in there. We only drank but the service was good despite the crowds.

Thankfully, this was saved from the 'progress' that is CrossRail and I'm so glad it is. There is a real proper atmosphere in there (like you get in The Gun in Brushfield Street) and can become quite pressed even in the winter. Beers are well tended and it is a delight compared to some of the tourist traps around Hay's... More

I've been to this pub a couple of times and I honestly love it. It is a proper London pub and just enough off the beaten track it doesn't get horrendously busy on a Friday night (at least in my experience). My friends, partner and I came here after my graduation and a bit of a rubbish time up The... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
