Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food and service was amazingly tasty, fresh and filling, and it was so refreshing to be greeted with such professionalism from the students, Ayshe our waitress was attentive and informative and made us feel at ease as well as the young somelier who was courteous.

I was there for USA Week when the year 3 students use American ingredients to prepare a 7 course tasting menu. The food was innovative and delicious. The setting calming and well appointed. The student staff were professional and educated us about the menu. I...would recommend going there for lunch but you must book in advance.More

I recently had lunch at Vincent Rooms, we ate from the Escoffier tasting menu which was great, the sea bass and mussels dish was the stand out performer. All of the staff were lovely but a special shout out to Ayse Holmes who predominately waited...on our table and provided exceptional service all afternoon.More

Recently the Escoffier won a prestigious award for the best college restaurant. This title does not do it justice in my opinion. The 5 course tasting menu for £35 was exceptional. It was a Spanish themed menu that was cooked and presented to a very...high standard. Trainee chefs were able to provide exceptional food to a standard that other restaurants only aspire to. The chefs and waiting staff were managed by Marc Whitley, Escoffier's Directeur Du Restaurant, who ensured that all patrons were provided with a consistent level of service. Unfortunately I did not take pictures of each course, I regret that now as I cannot share them with you. The restaurant has a josper grill which ensured that my lamb was tender and flavourful. Will I return, there is no doubt. I want to experience the tasting menu as a round the world gastronomic experience. Well done and thank you, here's to the journey.More

Went during “Spanish Week” with the family - and it was another fantastic evening. I’ve been lucky enough to dine at The Escoffier Room a few times. At face value, it’s fantastic food at an amazing price…..but that’s not really what the evening is about....Under the keen eye of Marc, the students get to practice their culinary and “front-of-house” skills with an appreciative audience. The food was delicious, the ambience wonderful, the service charming…….kudos to all the students, but especially Ted, Katherine and Ross. Thank you for a wonderful evening and hope to see you soon…..and for anyone reading this review, Shhhh! Don’t tell everyone as it’s hard enough to get a table.More

What an amazing way to support young people training for a career in hospitality. This restaurant is the students classroom over seen by the fabulous Mark Whitley (tutor) who quietly directs, encourages and praises his students throughout service. The menu of classic British cuisine was...amazing, the cooking and presentation was excellent, our waiter and the sommelier were polite and confident a credit to Marks training. We would like to wish these students the very best for their future careers. Also a big shout out to Sandra your cooking was perfect and baked bean butter who’d have thought it! 😊More

The Vincent Rooms is part of Westminster Kingsway College and is one of the hidden treasures of central London. The dishes are cooked and served by students – and based on their list of alumni this is the next generation of renowned international chefs. This...is our first visit, but won't be our last. The food was excellent, certainly at or very close, to Michelin Bib Gourmand standard – with a well thought out menu 100% meeting the theme of the lunch (in our case “Best of British”). We had lunch on the first day of a new rotation (the students move between the various modules such as front of house, waiting, cheffing etc). You would expect the young people to be nervous (I'm sure we all remember our first day at work), but they were fine, and gained confidence as the meal progressed. The resident lecturer was excellent – professional, helping and encouraging them at all times. Very easy to get to, close to tube/bus routes. Amazing prices, elsewhere this would be at least double their prices. They are not allowed to take tips or add service charge, but have a “student welfare donation box” - hopefully most people make a donation equivalent to a 10% service charge, now the minimum in similar restaurantsMore

I think this is our fourth visit to the Escoffier Rooms, though our first lunch. It is such a pretty room. We'd be regular visitors if we were less constrained by school holidays (when the students are on vacation too). I'd love a better booking...module on the website so you could see what dates are available, rather than discovering which are not by trial and error. A minor niggle. We arrived for Welsh week and were pleased that they could accommodate us a little earlier than we were scheduled to arrive. As usual the food was lovely. I particularly appreciate being able to switch between vegetarian and meat-based menu. I've never had a badly cooked dish (and some have been outstanding - especially the fish). Service was variable, it is the luck of the draw who you get to wait the table (but I am happy to excuse students who are a little nervous at first). It would take a 10 minutes lesson with a lazy-Susan with a plate/table edge marked, but invariably somebody re-lays the cutlery the wrong way round. It makes us smile, anyway. Aside from having to grab a glass of water knocked when collecting the menus menu, we had great service. We took the opportunity to purchase some hot cross buns, bread and an easter egg made by the catering students too. PS: they always telephone a couple of days in advance to check you are still coming, so don't ignore the phone.More

Slightly biased as my son is third year chef here (all the effort from menu creation, cooking and serving are delivered by the college students)- but what an experience Delicious Welsh themed tasting menu an absolute bargain for £35, with impeccable ingredients and professionally delivered....Another 35 gets you 4 paired wines delivered and explained by your sommelier, and fully wine and drinks list also Whole experience was brilliant and quite intimate as cannot have been more than 30 customers at a time enjoying the food Anywhere else in London this was at least £100 per person experience. Wonderfully presented and professional quality staffMore

Having been recommended Escoffier Restaurant by my friend, I was surprised that I haven't hear of this before. What a little gem! The ambiance is relaxing and not stuffy but definitely a cut above your regular restaurant. This place is staffed by students in training....The food was superb. Such an array of tastes and flavours. Delicious! secondly, we had the most attentive waiter, Luke, who's attention to detail and professionalism was phenomenal. Let's face it, this waiting business is darn hard work and it's difficult to read the customers and deliver the delights all at the same time. Well, Luke managed that. He added in a few little personal touches of his personality that was brilliant. Just a little grin or supportive comment. That is a true skill. Well done Luke! You're a natural. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience but I'm reluctant to share just how fab it was in case I can't get in there again!More

It was Indian week in the Escoffier when we visited. We have been here a good few times now and it is a reliably excellent experience. The front of house students are overseen by Marc who seems to be an exacting, though unobtrusive and understanding,...tutor. The restaurant is teaching them the full on silver-service waiting style in a live environment, and there might be the odd blip - it will not spoil your day and it’s part of the trade off for getting amazing food at these prices. Josh was our server and he was very friendly and capable. The food as usual leaves you amazed at the level of cooking and presentation that the students are capable of. The highlights today were the starter (samosas and assorted other nibbles) and the lentil soup complete with onion bhaji ‘crouton’. Plus the dessert - the name of which I forget but which was a dish involving carrots, mango purée and pineapple sorbet. A strangely lovely thing. Unusually, I felt that vegetarians were a little bit short changed by the main course. It was a perfectly nice vegetable curry, but compared to the lamb chops that meat eaters got it felt a bit simplistic. There were a couple of issues with the timing of intervals between courses - a couple of longish delays - as I said it won’t spoil your day, and makes a change from being given an hour and a half before they turn the tables in a commercial place. I say again: it’s a training restaurant. A six course tasting menu for £35 is fabulous value in these times, and for another £35 you get four wine pairings. The students here have real skill and hopefully bright futures in hospitality. They need your support, and you should go!More
