I walked in and booked a table for four at the Walthamstow restaurant prior to visit. Was not told at that time we would have to vacate seats after 1.5 hours. Turned up on time 6pm. The reception at the door was kind of scary...in the way that we felt as though we were being interrogated and ushered into some kind of prison camp while shown to our seats. We ordered drinks, waited 20 mins for them.... simple cocktails and vodka with orange. Ordered starters of saltfish fritters, jerk wings, mac cheese, king prawns. These were absolutely delicious... the best saltfish fritters I have every tasted in my life….and I have tried many. This set up my appetite and confidence to go all out for the main. Between us, we ordered Jerk Lamb Chops, Curry Roti, rice and peas, steam veg, plantain and got stuck in. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!.... The lamb chops were cooked medium rare on the inside and over crispy cooked on the outside and very chewy. The Curry Roti was dry and chewy. The staff were very noisy between themselves and even when talking to customers. They also had no proper dress code. Staff also began sweeping the floor right next to our table and in our direction (twice), while we were eating. When we finished our meals (bill totalling £209 and change), and ordered more drinks (which were not cheap), we were refused further drinks and told we would have to vacate our seats in 15 mins because they had other bookings for the evening. When challenged about this request, we were told that when you book online it states 90 mins for booking. What she didn’t know was that we had booked in the restaurant, and not told about the time limit. When communicating this fact to the staff, she showed no remorse and continued to insist we leave (with our undigested food). We only agreed because the chairs are uncomfortable and the environment (apart from the music), was lousy. I most certainly will not be visiting this restaurant again and will advise all persons about the shabby service we received and poor-quality food.More
Came across this place whilst shopping at Westfield. I had the steamed bream with vegetables and it was really tasty. Plaintain was a little dry though would have scored a five. The staff were lovely too. Will definitely come back.
Went on a Saturday. Paid £10.95 each for 4 boneless curry goat roti. Been buying food from Rhythm Kitchen for years. Usually the food is very nice. However, on this occasion, the food was dry. There were large lumps of dry, tough meat, with very...little sauce/gravy. This was very disappointing considering the cost!More
Food was ok some was served cold had to return. Pricey for what it is. The chicken was ok but could be more jerk The fried fish was wonderful though Some of the sides leave a lot to be desired
Came Friday evening 22/10/21, we had curry goat roti (outstanding) curry goat rice and peas ((amazing), bbq chicken and chips x2 (delicious), Pattie (lovely) plantain (perfection), salt fish fritters (gorgeous), rum punch ( would have liked more rum). The food was delicious, staff were very...friendly especially the lady giving us the trays with the short hair think she was the chef too, tell her I said she’s beautiful 😻, my favourite was the roti full of meat , and the salt fish fritters they were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Thanks for a lovely evening.More
Very good, not outstanding however - the roti was a bit stodgy and there was only a little crunch salad inside - a good amount of chicken but it wasn’t warm.
Delicious curried goat with rice & peas I had a large portion, my girlfriend opted for the Jerk Chicken Roti wrap with coleslaw & jerk fries . However her jerk chicken was too boney & I found the jerk fries a bit too salty &...not enough jerk spice perhaps they should use chicken breasts or boneless chicken thighs for the jerk chicken that said the food was good tasty & the staff friendlyMore
Hi. I came to the Walthamstow restaurant yesterday with my family. Whilst the goat was nice unfortunately I could not enjoy most of the limited starters. I have a fish allergy and was disappointed that the plantation fritters plaintain and even the dumplings were all...fried in the same fish oil !! I good restaurant would have catered for those with allergies and cooked separately. The poor woman who served us seemed embarrassed by this but she was lovely. Many people have allergies and a lot of restaurants cater for us . Sorry but I won’t be returning!!More
