This is a traditional pub. We went in for a meal before going to the Prince Edward Theatre. The Fish (cod) and Chips were large and very good as was the Cherry Pie and Sauce Anglaise. But the salmon wasn't so generous. The salmon itself was OK but there were only a few saute' potatoes and just a couple of pieces of wilted broccoli. The Berry Salad was missing strawberries and when questioned as to where they were, I was told that they did not have any on this day but I could have more fruit when I had nearly finished the dessert. If they new it was missing a component then they should have added more of the other fruit when it was served. The coffee was nice and the serving staff were excellent. I would give the staff 5 stars but have marked down because of the mediocre second meal. It is very near two theatres so handy for a pre theatre meal.

We pre booked tables for myself & a group of friends to meet up for the first time in years. Our tables were perfect with plenty of room and we were there from 1pm - 7pm as enjoyed it so much. The food was so good and reasonably priced, and many of us ordered drinks to the table & we had them within 5 minutes even though the place was very busy. Staff were really friendly (although one overcharged me by a few quid for a round ha ha!) & I will definitely be going back again! Thanks so much!

Thank you for taking the time to review us, Carly. We're really glad that you enjoyed your visit at the Spice! Please drop us an email, if you want to, so we can investigate the overcharge further. Really sorry about that. Sometimes honest mistakes happen, especially on busy shifts. We look forward to having you again when you're in town!

Saw the menu, liked it so went in. The whole experience was full marks. The Gent on the door very polite, the ladies behind the bar bouncing with happiness ready to serve, the customer who gave up his table so that we could eat there (wife, daughter and myself) Service prompt and again full of smile and making sure we had everything we needed before we left. The chap who seemed to help all round he came from the kitchen, did some bits behind the bar, cleared some tables, checked back on us. Thank you for making our day

Booked in advance for dinner in between Part 1 & Part 2 of Harry Potter & Cursed Child showing next door at the Palace Theatre. It was crowded and quite noisy when we entered but we were escorted to our reserved table promptly. Asked to order and pay at the bar. Hubby and I both had chicken skewers which were delicious but bit disappointed there was only one skewer. Decided to have a dessert and again food realty good but small portions, particularly the brownie. Plates were collected very promptly which made us feel a little rushed and pressured to leave. Other than that, it was affordable and excellent location next to the theatre.

Hey there, thanks so much for taking the time to write us a review! We're really glad you enjoyed yourselves. Sorry to hear that you felt rushed - the only reason we aim to clear plates so quickly is so that you're not sat with your empty plates in front of you, but we're sorry if it came across as rushing you - truly not our intention! Hopefully we'll see you again soon, Team Spice x

Visited midweek with some friends and had such a lovely time upstairs followed by music downstairs - both had a really great atmosphere, good prices considering the location and got some nibbles too which were very yum (especially cod goujons). The staff were very knowledgeable and smiley, served by Ellie who was very helpful and kind. Would definitely return here again soon. Thanks!

Popped in before Les Mis matinee. Had the steak sandwich and pint of mild, friends had the fish gougon sandwich and blt with triple cooked chips. Chips were great, my steak was cooked medium and was delicious. Highly recommended. Very good service also.

We had been walking around seeing the sights on a cool day and decided to try some authentic London food. This is located just across from the famous Harry Potter area. The choice of beer on tap is amazing as well as lots of seating options. Fish and chips were perfection! The meat pie came with mashed pies and a pitcher of tasty beef gravy! Staff were friendly

Location couldn't be beaten as literally next door to Palace Theatre, recommend booking a table in advance as busy. Good choices on menu and food and drinks came really quickly, in fact we managed to have a half hour spare to have a walk and bit of air before going back to theatre for 2nd half of The Cursed Child. 100% recommend as a place to eat between performances.

Come and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon at this very pleasant Pub and Music venue in heart of Soho, London. They do a Sunday roast as well as other menu options. Sunday Jazz Jam is only £5 per person 2pm-5pm, and very entertaining. They also do a Blues Jam session on Mondays and other music during week. I love this place, very clean, lovely staff.

Stopped in for lunch, the service is outstanding. The food was expertly cooked. The price is medium but the cost reflects the quality. Will be back for sure. My server was Danai and she was freindly, efficient and always made sure I was looked after

I went there with my workmates at lunchtime. We were in 14 people. The music was very loud and one of my colleagues ask politely if they could turn it down a little bit, they refuse saying they hadn't control of each speaker. But because it was so disturbing to talk for all of us, and I had already a headache I tried again explaining the situation. The manager was very rude saying even I could go to the outside tables and that the music was for the other tables as well (there were 4 tables more max).. It is incredible that when a customer asks something like that, so easy to get, they don't do anything to help even make it worse with their rudeness.

Travelled to London to visit friends who often perform here. Dropped in and the music wasn’t what I was expecting. Upstairs the two gentlemen working made me feel exceptionally welcome and took care of me throughout the night. I had ventured in solo and when I realised the music wasn’t for me I was at a slight loss but the kind and warm service made everything worthwhile. Would highly recommend and look out for Miles and Freddie who deserve lots of praise!

Definitely Never Again. Tips for improvement. 1. If you are going to play stupidly loud music at least have speakers that can handle the volume so that you can at least recognise the songs you are playing otherwise its just noise. 2. Serve edible food. All I had from my meal were 2 cold roast potatoes. I left soon as I could to get a meal deal from Mc D's next door. 3. Cater for people who don't drink alcohol. It would increase your turnover for a start. 4. Don't create a Covid spreading zone. Having stupidly loud music that forces people to yell at each other to make conversation combined with poor ventilation creates a perfect vector for Covid. We had a 5 of the people in our party come down with Covid after our visit to your establishment none of which had previous direct contact with each other.

The Spice of Life was new to us and we happened to follow the red neon signs pointing to music downstairs. What a treat. Saw 3 bands for our £9 a head. Gamble worth it. Beer good at downstairs bar and staff helpful, quick and polite even though very busy. Especially liked young band Creeke. The place was jumping. Will go again.

I visited the Spice of Life for a meal in between the Harry Potter plays at the Palace Theatre next door. The pub was very busy but I’d been reserved a table as I’d booked ahead. I was joined by a lad who’d had a bit too much to drink and the bar staff were immediately on it and moved me somewhere more secluded near the bar where they kept a watchful eye for the duration of my visit there (and dealt with the inebriated chap in a polite but firm manner). I was extremely grateful for this and surprised that the situation had been noticed given how crowded the pub was on a Friday evening. The food was delicious (I had a veggie cauli and broccoli bake).

Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
