The name Tziganos translates to "wandering gypsy", which reflects the theme of our restaurant. Like the wandering Tzigano, our menu consists of a wide range of dishes from all corners of the Mediterranean including, tapas, homemade pizzas and a selection of fresh fish and meat from our handmade charcoal grill. We pride ourselves on the quality of our dishes and the highest quality of service around. We’re on a mission to try as many restaurants as possible in Blackheath and this was not a disappointment.
Whilst sat in this quaint little restaurant I read the reviews and some were mixed which made me dubious. The less positive reviews were basically all on service. There were two staff working “the floor” and it was clear to us that the young female was relatively new, however she done really well. Our only criticism was we waited a while for our bottle of wine, we both said that we wouldn’t mind waiting for the food a while longer but would have liked our drink whilst we waited, but this will not deter us from visiting again. Tony who was the other staff member was so lovely, very welcoming and was working very hard ensuring all customers were happy and although he was clearly a little under pressure still took the time to have a quick chat. Stand up guy - thank you!
The meatballs and sauce were DELICIOUS, along with focaccia, carbonara, mushroom arancini, gnocchi and a portion of chips. My partner was absolutely delighted they were tapas so he was able to try more dishes! Food was great - not one fault.
We were even treated to some live music.
Great atmosphere - make sure you visit it really is a lovely place.

Amazing service and food. We came here for my boyfriends birthday and as there was a large group of us they put us in a separate room upstairs and let us connect a phone to a speaker and play our own music. From start to finish the service was amazing, servers really attentive. Food was great, had lots of different tapas dishes and food came out really promptly despite how many of us there were. Would definitely return.

As stated in my title this was our 2nd visit in 6 weeks, we did actually try and visit a couple of weeks ago in the week for lunch, but foolishly we didn’t check the open times and they were closed.
The food was yet again absolutely delicious, but when it comes to service it was unbeatable. We were well looked after by Tony who remembered us from our first visit.
Tony was attentive and welcoming, but also gave us the time and chatted with us.
Tony did try and convert us to liking Aperol Spritz and although it’s the best we’ve tasted, we’re not quite fully converted just yet!
We look forward to coming back again soon with friends.

Had the three course valentines menu, ordered oysters. Paid £25 for 6 oysters which is extortionate anyway especially when they arrived and the oyster had not even been removed from the shell so I had to de shell them myself, also when the chef can’t tell the difference between the top shell of a oyster and the bottom bit you actually serve is worrying. Lamb chops was over cooked, waited approximately 45 mins for each course. The mash had been over boiled and water had absorbed into the potato making it a gloopy under seasoned mess. Ravioli was barely bang average. The soufflé here is not a soufflé, it’s a chocolate cake. This is a shame as I used to come here a lot for the tapas and it never disappointed. The valentines menu was an absolute shambles, disappointed to say the least as this was my recommendation to come here. will never be coming here again.
Lovely service from a nice Asian lady who was very polite and on the floor running it on her own even though there was two or three people behind the bar.

Was looking forward to trying Tziganos but overall it was very uninspiring. Food was mediocre, you can definitely get better tapas with more choices & better value in many other places. Service was slow & one waitress actually came across as rude, as if she really didn't want to be there.
Most disappointing, especially in this day & age, was the total lack of accessibility of tables or facilities for those with disabilities. I have both a best friend in a wheelchair & a father with mobility issues. All the tables are high with tall chairs so not appropriate. Not sure how families with small children would fare either.
Overall, we won't be going again & would recommend many better places in Blackheath to eat.

Awful food .... the Rocket and Parmasan salad was literally a whole bag of Rocket thrown on to a plate with a few shavings of Parmasan, so few I had difficulty finding it.Never go there again. And the Spaghetti Carbonara was so bland and tasteless. I can make better.

The food is really good but the service, not so.
They seemed short staffed; they took ages to take the order and then even longer for any food to arrive and then 30 mins or more between dishes. Once we had the food, it was undoubtably really great, I just wish it could have arrived sooner. We decided not to bother to order any more dishes and they seem to be running out of the favourites. A shame really.
The food was so good that we would go again, maybe in a smaller group and sit nearer the front where it'll no doubt be easier to get the staff's attention.

We booked here as we were going to see a show at the halls. It was a glorious Saturday so the front windows were open. We arrived at 445 so it was still acceptable then to have them open but by the time we left they should have been shut I wasn’t the warmest and it is late October.
The staff (only one man on first arrival) was super friendly and worked hard to tend to every table. Sadly our only issue was the time for the food to arrive. But when it did it was very nice and fresh.
We were going to have a second round of tapas but had churros instead - suggestion don’t drizzle with chocolate sauce. Perhaps put on the side - that wasn’t for me but that’s personal choice.
All in all the meal was a great price and most of the food was delicious.
We would go back - hoping it was a blip with the wait time and perhaps they were short staffed in the kitchen as most places struggle post covid to hire and maintain staff.

The service was very friendly and spot on. The cocktails and wine were lovely and the portions were a good size. We probably ordered one too many.
A little disappointed that quite a few of the tapas we ordered were deep fried. The veal steak was very nice.

Arrived for a date night and as we arrived it had such huge potential, super cute atmosphere, super friendly staff. Ordered a pizza and three sides. All the food was lukewarm, then whilst eating the sausage pizza I noticed it was RED raw. It completely put me off the rest of the food and we didn’t finish the pizza. When I went up to tell my waitress she looked confused (despite me having the red meat on the plate) and went and got someone else. I told the next guy that the sausage was raw and he said ‘but we precook our meats’. I just pointed to the raw meat on the plate not knowing what to say. He then asked if I wanted the rest of the pizza? And I said no. After this, we asked for two coffees. Fifteen mins later we asked again, then 15 mins after that we just asked for the bill at which point they apologised and bought the coffee. They then charged us for the raw meat pizza, and became extremely blunt and silent when we asked politely for it to be taken off. When leaving me and my partner said thank you and goodbye twice to which they all ignored, which we put down to them being upset with us asking them to take the pizza off the cheque. We won’t be going back.

There are so many nice places to eat in Blackheath, this is not one of them. Ordered sangria and a meat and cheese platter. The sangria came out of a jug that had been sitting on the side and just topped up with lots of lemonade. It could have done with actually having some red wine in it. The platter was awful. Mostly salad, about 4 pieces of cheese and meat that was cheap and processed that I have never seen on any type of tapas before.
I’m just relieved we only ordered that. We were able to leave and go somewhere decent for our dinner instead such as the Everest Inn.
We won’t be returning.

This is a lovely place, very friendly and welcoming staff, we always enjoy coming here.
The manager always goes out of his way to make us feel comfortable so we can enjoy our time here, food is good as well (highly recommend the chorizo from the tapas menu). :)))
Definitely recommend this place + very good value for money.

Greeted by enthusiastic staff, the menu looked decent enough and ultimately all the dishes tasted great. Drinks were quite decent too. However, it took over 90 minutes from being seated until the main course arrived. Clearly an error in the kitchen and we were given first drinks on the house. Staff are professional but it's hard to rate a place higher when your stomach is rumbling. Price was fair enough.

If I could give less than 1 star..I would.
Despite have an email confirmation of our table for 6 at 8.30 our table wasn’t ready even at nearly 9.15. As stated in a previous review the waitress rolled her eyes at us when we dared to ask when our table was likely to be ready!
The chefs were arguing and despite having drinks menus placed in front of us no one came near nor by.
The customer service was disgraceful and we will never return!,,

Awful. When the manager argues with you when asking where our olives are for the second time you know this isn’t a good place. As for the octopus…..Deep fried, frozen and not good. Come on….you have rockpool (and amazing fish mongers) opposite. Get your fish and seafood there and support another local business.
As for the melanzane…..not good either. However, their garlic breads seem to be pretty good (only things actually edible). Thanks for a great date night. Never ever again.
