Came here for a sit-down lunch after visiting Borough Market. The atmosphere is pure pub. We ordered the Steak and Ale pie and the mac n'cheese with butternut squash (and a very few pieces of Stilton cheese). The food was OK (have had better and worse). It definitely needed more seasoning as it was rather bland. Am not a beer... More

Nice pub across from borough Market. Great place to grab a pint and people watch as they mill about the market vendors across the street. Plenty of room inside with an upstairs sating area as well.

Just by Borough Market, this old atmospheric pub serves various different real ales and craft beers. Also does fantastic chips! Well worth a visit.

We ate there a few times. It is a little bit of a climb up the tiny circular staircase to get up to the restaurant part, but well worth it. The food is excellent and good value for the money.

We have been to the this pub many times for lunch and the food has always been of top quality and reasonably priced for London. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Service is good and the food cooked fresh hence you have to wait sometimes for the food. Every time we have been the Restaurant has been full.... More

Nicely located pub with friendly staff. Most of the menu wasnt available. Cheeseburgers were a catatrophe. An uneatable meetball inside a bun. The service was friendly, but it took them an hour to serve a burger without cheese (first they served the wrong dish and than made it right and served it to another table). Maybe its a good place... We came on this spot wile wndering through the market. The pub itself looked busy but we went upstairs to the restaurant and it was great apart from a group of noisy drunk women. Good fish and chips but not great, the mac and cheese was ok.

Went there for few drinks and staff (the 2 girls) on duty was very helpful and friendly. Apparently management didn't really like the fact two lads were talking to their staff. We then got another drink and kept chatting with staff as they didn't seem to be bothered by us. But anyway we decide not to and just mind our... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
