As with so many reviews on here, we were staying at the Doubletree Hilton just up the road and stumbled upon The Blacksmith's Arms by accident. What a find! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome by the staff while the drinks were reasonably priced. We hadn't booked a meal but were told if we didn't mind hanging on for 20 minutes, they would then fit us in which they duly did in substantially less than 20 minutes. The food was very good and they didn't scrimp on the portions while the restaurant staff were pleasant. One of them even pointed out that, as residents of the Doubletree, we were entitled to a 10% discount at The Blacksmith's Arms if we picked up the right leaflet in the hotel reception. We hadn't picked up a leaflet, but I showed the key card to our room and the manager accepted that - so that was a bonus. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again two nights later. While we got the impression this was a thriving business with a very healthy footfall, it had managed to keep the feel of a proper pub and the management and staff are to be congratulated on that.

Worth getting the very short ferry trip over from Canary Wharf to the Hilton, walking through reception and then turning right to find this place a few yards away. Tables in the bar can be used for lunch but as there were eight of us we opted for the larger room at the back. They put two tables together for us and we had an excellent lunch. The steak and ale pie was first rate (despite not being a pie but rather a casserole with a pastry lid) and full of meat in a rich sauce. Perfectly cooked vegetables, an excellent clam linguine, decent half rack of ribs. Beer is well kept and there a good choice on hand pump. Highly recommended.

Stayed in Hilton hotel beside this pub. We ate there twice and it was excellent. The drinks were reasonably priced and usually music on Friday evenings. If you are into good food at a reasonable price this is the place no fancy decor but food really good

After walking out the restaurant in doubletree by Hilton as it was appalling we decided to try this great pub out for dinner on Saturday night . Fortunately we were early and got a table , had great food , very tasty , cooked to perfection. Good service in a nice lively atmosphere. Hao our waitress was very good and attentive.

We were staying in the doubletree round the corner and was our last night and we stumbled across the blacksmiths arms and we were pleasantly surprised with the ambience. We ordered the steak and as we are from north Scotland we are used to good steak but this was one of the best we have both had for some time . Full of flavour , Cooked perfectly to each specification and very reasonably priced . As everywhere in London drinks are pricey (to us ) and it’s worth noting this is the only place of the week long trip that has added a 12.5% gratitude which is a shame as I would have left more if they hadn’t automatically added it to the bill .

I had the vegetarian nut roast with the trimmings and had its own pot of vegetarian gravy, with delicious veg and comforting Yorkshire pudding. It was really lovely, I recommend it and my friends enjoyed their meals too. I really liked the way they have decorated the outside area, they truly put lots of thought and effort into it, with pretty lights, candles etc. The only let down was the waitress who was new and did not have much knowledge of the menu and what was and wasn't available.

We visited as a couple to get some breakfast/brunch. The staff were really welcoming and friendly, a girl showed us to a table and brought over the menu. There was a good selection of food to choose from. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast, but my partner ordered a starter and steak meal from the lunch menu. Im not sure if the waitress assumed that we were eating the starter together, but she brought over an extra plate for me to share the chicken wings, but they were actually just for my partner. It would have been a good idea to establish this from the start as I was very hungry and had to wait a very long time for the food as they were waiting for my partner to finish his starter. I think if he was offered the option of them bringing out the starter with his mains this would have been much better and I would have also been a lot happier if I didn't have to sit and watch him finish a whole starter before my breakfast had even began to be cooked :( When the food eventually came it was nice and we would definitely return for food again.

Had the pleasure of revisiting an old favourite for the first time in a while for a collection. Same order but beautifully produced. The salt and pepper squid was presented in a lovely box and the added salad and chillis were excellent. The prawn Pad Thai was an ample portion and my request for more spice was obviously listened too😂. The food was still piping hot when I got home which was great. Served by happy, smiling and helpful staff........and I also managed to sneak in a nice cheeky pint of Peroni while I was waiting 👍. I’ll be back.

This pub, near to the Doubletree Hilton on Rotherhithe Street (& so accessible from Canary Wharf via the cross-river ferry), is a nice local that does very good food. There is a small courtyard at the back and in summer a few tables are out on the pavement- the street is relatively quiet. Beer is the standard London price of around £6 a pint (Meantime & Frontier 5.80). Service is good as is the food. Salt & pepper squid at £8.95 is superb, put fries with it & you’ve got a great meal!

Absolutely awful Came on a recommendation but wish we hadn’t I can honestly say this is the worst roast dinner I and my friends have ever had. The starters were passable although the soup apparently was watery, my husband really enjoyed the Thai squid The main courses came out in instalments, first arriving with 15 minute intervals between each, mine arriving last after 30 minutes so everyone else had nearly finished what they could eat. My husband had ordered beef with extra potatoes as he is gluten free and he was given 3 small roast potatoes in total. His beef was a really cheap cut with lots of sinew and gristle Mine was a vegetarian option, hardly any vegetables and a big hunk of nut roast that tasted like sawdust. It was frankly revolting. The others in our group were also disappointed, I would be surprised if the food came to over £2.00 a person Luckily the waiter was understanding and knocked a couple of meals off our table Please get it together, the mayflower down the road does the best and take a note out of their book

Good evening, I’m extremely sorry about your experience with us, this is not how we expect you to feel after visiting us. We would like to offer you an opportunity to come back with mains on us. We understand we had an off day & as the highest ranked restaurant in our area we would appreciate if you’d give us another chance to show you how wonderful our food really is. Feel free to contact me on downtownbsa@gmail.com Thank you

Having visited the Titanic exhibition by Canada Water we walked for a while to the Double Tree hotel in Rotherhithe where our friends had visited sometime before. As the restaurant was shut we decided to look for somewhere else. Having spotted a pub nearby we decided to try it. It turned out to be a nice old school London boozer with wood panelling and comfy chairs in the bar and more formal dining at the rear. The four of us had something different and each enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and helpful and provided us with a unexpectedly pleasant late afternoon visit. As another unexpected bonus we arrived during 'happy hour ' (between 4.30-6.30pm) making a round in London pleasantly affordable! So if you're looking for a place to eat or just to drink with an authentic London vibe, try here.

Quaint, noisy pub atmosphere with a lovely back end patio for a quieter meal. Food is utterly fantastic, and the service is dependent on how busy they are - we went there twice, once for lunch on a week day and once for dinner on a weekend. Week day we got right in, seated ourselves. Dinner, we had to ask several employees how to go about getting a table, and then it was a different person entirely that finally seated us. Off the beaten path, this place is tucked away I to a primarily residential neighborhood. But it’s too good to miss! Lilly was entertainingly fun to talk with.

Fabulous food beautifully presented. We both had the pear and Gorgonzola stuffed pasta. Creamy and tasty The lemon cheesecake was sublime as was the pistachio cake. The service and staff were very attentive. A lovely experience. We will definitely come again.

I stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton at Docklands for eight nights and popped in every night for dinner and drinks. Tom and his sister Stevie are fantastic hosts and everyone should make an effort to have at least one meal and a pint at this family friendly pub. Upon entering I was immediately welcomed by the very friendly bar team especially Stevie (aka number 2) who swiftly got my drinks. Lovely experience and would definitely recommend and return, thank you team xx

What can I say that hasn’t already been said. First night into the bar to meet locals Jimmy, Nick and Gary made us so welcome in a matter of minutes it seems we had know them for years. We were a little late for food but the staff did everything possible to see if something could be sorted. We spent a few great evenings with Tom and his amazing staff, during the Euros. We had an amazing meal, with family and I cannot speak highly enough of the quality and presentation of the food, it was delicious. Try it for yourselves you will not be disappointed. Tom we will be back, I can assure you, but thank you all for the open arms approach that you and all you staff, bring to this pub. They are a credit to you. If you intend to stay at the Double tree by Hilton Docklands, you are a mere minute away from one of the most hospitable places in London.
