I was staying in the area unexpectedly for one night as my flight out of Heathrow had been cancelled, and so I looked up local pubs and thought the Victoria had the ambience that I was looking for. And how right I was! From the...moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff and a lively, convivial atmosphere among the regulars and the tourists. The owner--Pat, I believe his name was--came over a couple of times for a chat, and I just thought that he was such a lovely and friendly man. I had some great beers as well as a wonderful steak pie meal comprised of very nice homemade pastry (I asked Pat and he said that his wife had made it) and some great chips and veggies--a perfect English pub meal! This is the kind of place that everyone wishes that they had in their own neighbourhood. If I'm ever back in the area, then I promise to seek out the Victoria again. It would be worth the effort.More

My last day in London, I decided to go to a pub and eat a burger or something simple and heavy. I usually tend to get Asian food or something healthy, but I figured I may as well go to an actual British pub just...once. Since I was close to Paddington Station, I chose this place -- and I was wowed! The decor was really ornate and charming. The staff was very accommodating and I enjoyed listening to their banter with the customers. Everyone can hear everything that's said in the room: I don't know if that's typical but I thought it created a kind of general conversation, which was kind of fun. It turns out I wasn't hungry enough to get a burger or a savory pie, so I had a salad. I was impressed! It had a lot of (I presume) local and seasonal ingredients, like samphire, fresh peas, spelt, apple, and asparagus. I also had a lemony steak appetizer with shaved pecorino on top, which was delicious. What a wonderful memory of my last meal in London this time around.More

This was a party arranged as a surprise. Our party was a mixture of adults and children. We had our table in a room upstairs, the stairs are a challenge for someone with mobility issues. Most of the party said the food was ok, personally...the burger i had was a bit average but it was ok. Service was very good waitresses were polite and helpfulMore

From start to finish what a pub should be. From the regulars you can spot right away to the tourists (like we were!) to the perfect bar staff. The food is great, the drinks perfectly cold and served fast, and the ambience is exactly what...you expect - including families and the occasional doggo or two. Took our daughter here for her first pub ever. Will come back again if we are ever this way.More

Went to a Tuesday night Trivia Contest and sat at the bar with my son (24 yrs old). The bar itself is something right out of “Cool, Quirky British Pubs Quarterly.” Tight quarters, but very welcoming. They have a fantastic selection of beers and the...fried chicken sandwich my son had was very good. A special shout out to Will, a university student who was working as a bar back, who joined our trivia team after his shift ended. If everyone in England is as convivial as Will, then we will have a wonderful trip. The crowd at the bar on the first floor could not have been more eclectic and the vibe was strong until last call. Didn’t venture up to the second floor bar.More

We had reservations for dinner on a Saturday after flying from Los Angeles. The airline was late and we arrived at the restaurant an hour late to find a happy crowd enjoying drinks at the bar and outside. When we explained our problem, they found...us a nice table and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and chatted pleasantly with our server. We enjoyed it so much that we dined a second time two weeks later when we went through London again.More

This might be a chain pub (Fullers) but the food and service were of the standard you'd usually expect in an owner-run business. The atmosphere was busy, the food really good, the service excellent. We really enjoyed our evening and would return if in the...area again.More

If you order it without the tartare sauce then our fish & chips is dairy free .. although it is prepared in an open kitchen so could have some cross contamination of course. Hope that helps.
