The place was very crowded and dark. Slow service. Got ham sandwich and chips for lunch. The food was awful and expensive. Cheap ham, cheap bread, rocket and awful onion chutney all over it.

Great little pub, reasonably priced food and good portions. Westminster area is extremely busy, especially during the tourist season and most of the pubs/cafes are super busy. This one was much quieter and a great little spot in the side streets.
Terrible service. We ordered 3 soft drinks when we walked in, and it took them 30 minutes and us reminding them to bring them out. Then I asked for my burger with no mayo, and it came out with. After I sent it back, they...came back out and the mayo had been clearly scraped off, because all the garnishings I was supposed to have with the burger were gone, so I had just meat. The burger I may add was severely over cooked. Avoid this place.More
After a long hot day watching the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and then walking through Westminster Abbey - my wife and I really wanted a nice old London Pub to sit down, have a cold drink and something nice to eat. We...had passed this pub earlier in the day and I had stuck my head in and decided that we would come back later. It has a nice big area on the main floor to have a pint of something tasty, which is exactly what we did! I had a pint of Shepherd Neame Cider and my wife had a glass of Prosecco. After relaxing for a bit, we went downstairs to the eating area and ordered some lunch. For an appetizer we had the Cocktail Pigs In Blankets with a Cumberland sauce (5.50), which were really tasty although they didn't come as appetizers like we had asked but rather with our mains. I ordered the Braised Beef, Ale & Onion Pie that came with mashed potatoes and mixed greens (15.50), which was very tasty and came with a really good gravy My wife ordered the Haddock Fish & Chips (17.00) and received a huge piece of Haddock with pea puree, chips and tartar sauce - she said it was excellent. We were so stuffed that there was no room for dessert. Friendly staff, good menu and a great location by the Abbey - definitely check this place out if you are looking for a good pub in the area!More
Quirky place. The ground floor bar is empty. No furniture or anything. Asked for a meal and told there was a wait. I said we would and the wait ended up being a minute! We we 'allowed' to venture to the basement which was actually...furnished. Good selection of pub food. Good service. Good ale. Oasis in the middle of the city.More
We stopped for a drink here and I had a great pint of Spitfire Ale, there were a lot of people in and we noticed a sign saying "no food today", there were a lot of dissapointed people coming in and going straight out again....
One of the military police at Westminster Abbey suggested that we go there for a pint and a meal. We loved the cozy atmosphere upstairs and downstairs where we ate. The pints were cold and room temperature - just right. Our dinners were delicious: cheeseburger,...onion rings, fish and chips, and the steak, onion, and ale pie. Service was so friendly. We would definitely go there again!More
We had the most amazing lunch here, my husband had the Beef Ale & Onion Pie and I had a Chicken Burger minus the bun but with extra salad with fantastic chips! Portion size was plentiful. We had spent the morning walking around Westminster Abbey...which was truly a great experience. We were ready for some food and a sit down before heading off to the Temple Church. This place is just across the road from the Abbey and downstairs you will find lovely wooden alcoves to sit and enjoy your food. Would definitely recommend, the bar staff were helpful, the Guinness was good so if you're in the area definitely one to check out.More
Stopped here after three hours visiting the Churchill War Rooms. Were warmly welcomed, had a great meal - including beef, ale and onion pie and sticky toffee - and went home with gifts! Thank you for the great afternoon!

On New Year's Eve, my family and I had dinner at this cosy pub. The location was good and the staff were sweet and helpful. The food was served quickly and tasted very good. It was also clean. I would definitely recommend this pub for...a cosy drink or a nice meal!More
Happened upon this charming pub near Westminster Abbey and Churchill War Rooms. Food was delicious and the staff was great! We will definitely visit again the next time we are in London!
We attended this pub by chance when we were walking around London central during remembrance weekend and some roads were closed. I found this pub using Google maps and noticed maybe a 100 veterans drinking inside and outside on the street. It's a real old...style London boozer with some great ales. Due to the vast number of customers we stood outside in the street drinking ales and beers. I would definitely visit this pub again when we are in London central again. We were made to feel welcome by the staff and the veterans in attendanceMore
Fantastisc bar from shepherd neame. Nice en well served Typical English ales. Very friendly en funny staff in the bar. DOWNSTAIRS There is a restaurant where you can eat a really fresh and tasty Fish & chips BUT Don't expect a warm and friendly welcome...from a witchy waitress who only has one word for you: « You pay in advance! » After Pauling she « serve » You but remains ridiculousely haughty and unpleasant booth with clients and collègues. Should apply for a job as a prison guardMore
Excellent pub! We came to have a double dram of Lagavulin 16 in honour of Her Majesty the Queen. Great company. Great people. A welcoming landlord. A warm welcome. And a hale and hearty drink! Steps from Westminster Abbey. A crédit to Westminster, and a...fitting honour on the occasion. God bless ERII. Long live the king!More
