The restaurant is lovely and cosy. We received friendly and prompt service and the food is DELICIOUS . The staff cater from individual taste and know the importance of Kingfisher being service, as I like ice cold. I highly recommend!

The restaurant was empty. We wanted a 4 seater table for two, but they refused. Twice. Why? Rude service. We went in despite it being empty based on positive reviews. Never again.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant and as a family we always save it for a takeaway treat. There is a vast array of dishes, all really reasonably priced, and every single one is seriously delicious. It's really hard to choose a favourite but the tandoori...salmon is very hard to beat. My mouth is watering just writing this. I want to eat their amazing food immediately.....More

What do you do on your wife's birthday? Our takeaway was just the job. Quick efficient. Safe to order and collect. We were given a time to collect and all went smoothly. Food was good. We were happy. And happy to keep this institution going...through these hard times and a welcome punctuation in our good but rather traditional home-cooked meals. Bravo!More

Opted for vegetarian courses, all freshly made and simply delicious. A great place where you can bring your own booze. Fast becoming a great attraction on the cool Northfield Ve scene

There are some interesting sounding dishes on this menu, but having ordered from here a few times, last night we realised there are not many flavours to their food. We ordered 3 different main dishes as well as some sides, but nothing really 'blew us...away', can't say we'll be back in a hurry. Maybe if all the other Indian restaurants in the area close down...More

We visited the restaurant following many recommendations. The staff were attentive and polite. The food was freshly cooked. The chicken naga was tasty and spicy. The King Prawns was beautifully presented and succulent. The rice, spicy potatoes and okra were also excellent. We will most...certainly return and heartily recommend others to visit.More

Wanted an Indian meal for a party of seven, so phoned ahead and were warned to expect a delay as they had a lot of bookings. We went regardless (the time was 18:30) and were surprised to find a totally empty restaurant. One member of...staff taking a phone order, the other was reluctant to seat us without asking his colleague. It's a BYO and we had brought beer with us but they only brought three glasses. Eventually seated, we waited ten minutes before The Reluctant waiter came to take our order. Food was okay, really nothing special and I found the milder sauces really sweet but my main gripe was the amount of meat in any of the dishes was miniscule: it looked like about 50g per main course dish. We filled the teenagers up with rice and naan breads. The place seems to run for takeaways and Just Eat deliveries. Doubtful we shall return.More

Having previously been turned away at 21:55 and been given the excuse "we've been very busy and we've run out of food", I was hoping that tonight would be different, My friend and I walk past and note that there are vacant tables and duly...head to Sainsbury's to buy alcohol due to the BYO policy. On entering the open door, with the door sign clearly saying "open", one of the waiters makes a hasty retreat. We stand at the 2nd door that goes into the restaurant and the manager walks towards us. He walks up and stands there, puts both hands over his face, covering his eyes and mouth, and then removes them. He says nothing for a couple of seconds. "How many of you are there?" "Just the 2 of us." "Sorry we've run out of things as we've been so busy, The owner said we should close at 21L30..." We leave, just after I tell him how ridiculous this is to happen again, and vowing that I will never be back again. He says nothing. He doesn't look surprised. It's 21:40 now, on a Saturday night. I've either just been lied to or they're extremely badly managed. I feel that it's the former. The long pause, covering his eyes, his mouth are classic tells, nevermind firstly asking how many of us there were. Why ask that if you've run out of food?? I can't say for sure if he's lied to me, but the body language was there on show. On my one but previous visit, we were almost turned away at 22:15 as the same manager had said that they were closing at 23:00. We said we'd be finished by then and he relented and let us sit down. My take on being turned away twice is that they probably hadn't had a table sit down for the last 30-40 mins and thought they would be getting to finish early. When we arrived, it would have meant they'd have to serve us and be there for another hour at least. Someone doesn't seem to realise if you say you are open until 23:00, it means that's when you stop letting people through the door. After the initial anger at the situation, I'm left feeling disappointed. I've been a customer for 6 or 7 years, friends of mine, evern longer that that. Previously we've always been greeted with a huge smile, and a welcoming handshake, each of us in turn. I don't think I ever got his name, but he seemed to manage the restaurant before it was refurbished years ago, and for a while after that. There was a time when I was there at least once, if not twice a month. The food's always been good, consistant and I can only assume that it still is. Assume is all I can do, having been turned away repeatedly. I have always had another concern about eating here, their 2/5 Scores on the Doors rating. As someone who used to work in a private capacity inspecting kitchens in Loondon, and having been in 100s of them, this is a sign of a badly managed establishement. I must say that I've never had a problem when I've eaten here, but it isn't a great sign of what happens behind closes doors. The night did end well though, having taken a short walk further up Northfields Avenue and visited Mama's Nepalese Kitchen. Top rated service, with a smile, and excellent food. I've been before and I'll be back. India India once had this sort of service, I'm sad to say, they don't anymore. It wasn't an easy decision writing this review but having received some of the worst service from any restaurant that I've ever visiited, I feel that it has to be said. Good bye, a long term regular customer.More
