Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a pub it was pretty good and seemed to have a good atmosphere but unfortunately we were there as a family of three, for food in the upstairs bar and restaurant. It was absolutely appalling, I can’t remember when we have ever received such...disgusting service. We ordered starters and mains which after a 40 minute wait they brought out altogether. When my husband tried to explain to the waitress that by the time we would have eaten our starters the mains would be cold, she didn’t seem to understand what we were on about. We spoke to the manager Vikki Hornsby who was incredibly rude and also didn’t seem to understand what we were talking about. The manager Vikki Hornsby then went on to bad mouth us to other customers at the bar, which is totally unacceptable and then she disappeared altogether leaving the upstairs bar area completely unattended. Several customers who were trying to order drinks from the bar upstairs had to go to the bar downstairs to get their drinks. We would never ever go back and we definitely wouldn’t recommend the Sun Tavern in Covent Garden to anyone that we know . Such a shame, as we had a brilliant day out in London but the whole experience at the Sun Tavern ruined our day, very , very disappointing.More

Called in for a quick pint on my way home mid-afternoon. Place looked like it needed some tlc but might have been post-lunch mess. Paid £7 for a pint of IPA, which was tasteless - I left half of it. On the plus side, bar...staff were alert and got served quick. Won't go back - plenty of other options.More

We visited on a late Friday afternoon between Christmas and New year, and it wasn't too busy. Prices were relatively good compared with other pubs we visited. Drinks were fine and we got seats downstairs for the four of us . We had a pre-theatre...meal upstairs and the experience was mixed. The cheeseburger, chicken burger and fish & chips were good pub grub, but the beef in the pot pie was a tough as old boots and most of it was left. When we mentioned this on the collection of the plates the waitress merely said 'that's a shame'. I would of expected some recompense, but none was forthcoming.More

Great local pub, friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. We didn’t venture upstairs or eat but certainly would based on what we saw today.

Booked this online as travelling to London for a theatre break . The table was reserved as promised . The bar man could have done with a better personality but that is a minor thing . The applewood burger and chicken club were delicious but...the skin on fries seemed over cooked as too crispy for my liking .More

Lovely pub in central London. Unfortunately the waitress upstairs was very rude and couldn’t really be bothered to serve us or clear the tables around us. Food was ordered and no sauces or cutlery was given. Drinks were so watery and beer was flat. Shame...as could be so much better.More

Went in here for lunch on a busy day in London, party of five. The staff were great, very helpful and great service. We ate in the restaurant area upstairs, which has its own bar. There was quite a decent varied menu that catered for...the Vegans in our party. Food was well, cooked and presented, plus it tasted great and the portion sizes were good. Franks were all good too. As we were just a little way off of Covent Garden, I thought the prices were pretty reasonable and the place was a lot less crowded than those within Covent Garden. Highly recommended, will eat and drink here again if in the area.More

Where to start firstly staff , the girl working upstairs has a shocking manner and is rude , no need for that !!! Flat beer twice so either dirty lines or glasses Don’t order ploughman’s it’s dire and staff obviously think that 2 big block...of cheese on plate will cut its self as no cutlery , given then when I went and asked dure face behind bar it was as if it was issue , now coming from Glasgow I bit my tongue as I was out enjoying London , and she is lucky she didn’t get the sharp end of it ……. Nice place shame about staff and food !!!!!!More

Great location being close to Covent Garden & numerous attractions as well as Theatre District. Very good menu choice and would highly recommend the Bacon & Stilton Salad! Rest of our Group stuck with burgers but all said they were very enjoyable. Staff very good....The lady who served us was very attentive making sure we were happy with everything. Not too busy when we arrived as around 4 pm but was starting to fill up when we left. Price wise around what you would expect for Central London but very good value. Will definitely be back.More
