Ordered the grilled halloumi sandwich. It was stone cold from the fridge and uncooked so sent it back. It came back grilled, but with my one bite still taken out of it, which wasn't very classy. This is still a nice enough place for drinks and a game of pool though.

Hi Blink76, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your food when you last visited. We had a new member of staff in the kitchen recently and it seems they made a mistake with your order - it's no excuse as our chef should have picked this up before the plate left the kitchen but we'll learn our lesson... Escaped to this pub after a not so pleasant experience at one over the road. A warm welcome from friendly staff who seemed genuinely pleased to see us A great selection of beers and wines were competitively priced and served with thought and precision An interesting menu with freshly made mains were delicious Possibly one of the nicest pubs in... I went to a private party here, so I can't comment on what it is like when open to the public. However, it was a good space for a party and there was a small dancefloor at the back. There's a decent range of beers but there are not many wines available by the glass. We found the staff to... More

A hipster joint down Grays Inn Road. Blimey. I must grow a beard ASAP. Very comfortable with padded wooden chairs and sofas too for the lounge lizards. Great selection of ales but although a "garden" is oft mentioned on other websites and reviews, it is really a smoking area and you're not allowed to take your beer outside. Boo. Free... More

Been here many times with chums. I particularly love the inclusion of a glory hole for "lightening the load" after a busy day.

We had a lovely lunches of beef burger and chicken, pesto and mozzarella in granary bread with lovely triple cooked chips. Good portions and tasty. We had a booth which was great as we had cases and didn't get in the way. Good choice of drinks. Got busy with office workers but gave it a nice atmosphere.

It all looked so promising. But no. Surly staff great at chatting with the locals but NO interest in us. Six prawns in my prawn sandwich that had been rapidly defrosted under the grill I suspect. When I told the lady behind the bar she interrupted me (with her hands on her hips) while I was explaining and gave the... More

Hello gutherssimon, I was sorry to read about your experience at The Blue Lion and also for the delay in responding to your review (my Tripadvisor 'alerts' got turned off somehow). Clearly we got the service and food very wrong on this occasion and I'd like to make amends for that and hopefully change your opinion of us if possible.... More

I work opposite at ITV so often come in here for a lunch time cheeky one. Standard London prices, pool table and can stand outside in the sun! Good times!

Neighbourhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
