This customer emailed and below is the reply we sent, the very same day. It's unfortunate that Tripadvisor is used as a weapon by some people to lash out, rather than allowing venues time to respond directly and put things right. Here's our same day...More
Food is enjoyable pub food, never going to set the world alight but does the job for a midweek working lunch. The pub often gets busy and there's the mews for outdoor drinking on Thursday and Friday nights, plus a pool table if you're feeling...More
The last time this pub had a refurb looks to be before the 1970s and probably earlier. This, however, is what gives it so much charm. The beer and food were good and the WiFi was free.

Called in for lunch earlier this week after visiting the nearby Postal Museum and Underground.
Good food and an excellent choice of beer. Had a pint of Cornish Coast. New to me but memorable for all the right reasons. citrus flavor and bitter.
Came here for a pint whilst in the area. Came at a less busy time and found the service to be quick and friendly. Was going to stay longer but certainly would return. Nice atmosphere and worth a visit.

Be aware to check when they serve meals as the kitchen...More
Ordered the grilled halloumi sandwich. It was stone cold from the fridge and uncooked so sent it back. It came back grilled, but with my one bite still taken out of it, which wasn't very classy. This is still a nice enough place for drinks...More

Hi Blink76, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your food when you last visited. We had a new member of staff in the kitchen recently and it seems they made a mistake with your order - it's no excuse as our chef should...More
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky
models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
