Possibly the best Chinese food I've tasted. We sat downstairs in The Forbidden City' which has a darker ambience and a feels a bit plusher than upstairs. Started with a most unusual gin cocktail with cumin and pomegranate, deliciously different.  To start we ordered the   ‘Moo shu’ pancake wraps of pork, egg and wood ear fungus. The description hardly does... More

Second visit here and it was just as good as our first. On our first visit we had the 10 course taster menu, so this time we chose from the main menu. The food is stunning, the flavour combinations are spot on. The crispy duck was spot on and came with few more alternatives, as well as the usual cucumber... More

This is my new favourite Chinese restaurant... I firstly appreciate the decor which is modern but comfortable with subtle lighting for the dinner sitting. Most chinese restaurants have awful lighting but I really appreciate it here as its warm and inviting. The food is excellent, the ambience, the service, with the intimate vibe really did it for me. It has... More

We went for dinner and had the best dim sum's ever as a starter! They were so tasty, and the main courses not that big, so we had to have one more serving of the dim sum's (3 in one serving). We definetly have to come back for lunch when we can have a larger variety of dim sum!

Upon competing the last course of the 10 Taste Of China menu my taste buds commanded me to seek out the fantastic Mr Wong and kiss and embrace him. Fortunately the kitchen divide spared me a likely lawsuit, and a handshake sufficed. Love this place.

At the risk of stating the obvious, there are lots of Chinese restaurants in London - many are quite good, very few are excellent and able to produce that extra dimension of flavour (which is what Chinese food should be all about), some hit a peak of excellence and then go back to being quite good (e.g. Yauatcha), others are... How many courses can you make with one duck? between 3 of us, there were courses each, all fabulous. We were completely stuffed at the end of it. This restaurant looks basic, feels basic, and then you get the most insane meal. Book well in advance - only 1 duck menu table per evening. I will defo do this again.... More

Andrew Wong is creating masterpieces by his fusion of different styles of regional Chinese cooking. The Sichuan beef with aubergine is to die for and the Blythburgh pork belly is hard to beat. What a treasure this restaurant is.

Staying in Pimlico

Neighbourhood Profile
Pimlico
Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than most other Central London neighbourhoods. This largely residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames, is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art from the 1500s to the present. For peace and quiet and some downtime spent along the Thames, Pimlico is highly recommended.
