Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely city boozer. Nothing pretentious, just a good honest pub. The staff are friendly, welcoming and manage the bar in a professional manner. Even when busy, they alays know who is next in line. I've been a few times, and they remember your orders,...which is always a good sign especially as it's not even my local! There's also a fab cask ale selection to work through too and non of that cocktail nonsence. The building is beautiful, packed with history. And... it's also a stone's throw from Fenchurch street station :) It makes that evening stumble home a little easier!More

A fairly small old fashioned pub very close to fenchurch street station.Beer is always good with a selection of ales to choose from.A lot of customers drink outside of the pub due to space limited inside .popular from 5 to 7pm most weekdays

My boyfriend and I were looking around for a quick drink after work waiting for traffic to die down. Funnily enough we ended up in a pub which pays tribute to the brewery in Faversham! It's a tiny pub with limited choice of spirits (obviously)...beer is the specialty here. Not a bad place for a quick drink. Expect London prices though not Kent!More

Had a pint of Spitfire which was as dull as dishwater. Then had a Whitstable Bay which was only marginally better. Pub is a nice little place in the heart of the city but has limited outside space

This is a very small pub with limited seating. Customers stand at the bar or lean up against the wall but most drinkers prefer to stand outside on a sunny day as it was when we visited, as there is a large pedestrianised area. The...staff were well trained, polite and knowledgeable. Each person seemed to have their own duties within the confines of the bar whether it be serving customers, loading the washer, putting away clean glasses etc. Even the gents toilets were small. The wash hand basin, soap dispenser and dryer were all so close to each other that only one person could use the facilities at any one time. However, a good place for an afternoon drink but it does tend to get very crowded from 1600 onwards.More

This pub is a shepherd Neames, thus the beer is well looked after and the staff well trained and helpful. The pub itself is very small and on sunny evening the punters spread out on the expanse of pavement outside the @eat' fast food joint....Classic city pub with city pricing of the items on the drinks menuMore

The pub is in one of the oldest buildings in the City of London and is believed to be frequented by people of the East India Company. The pub was small but buzzing with people after work. However, it's not for people who look for...a place to chill, sit and relax. And I believe no extended rage of food is serve.More

I remember fondly the male orientated East India Arms, in which 'ladies' we're all to rare. Those times are gone and the mixture of the clientele ratio is nearer 50/50. It's a small but nice pub and if you're in the vicinity of Fenchurch street...close to Fenchurch street station, it's well worth a visit.More

Nice pub with great history and decor. Staff was polite in helping explain choice of beer. But what is it with men and pubs in London. My wife was the only woman in this (and many other) pub and was given the death stare by...countless "punters". Growing up in Quebec we had men only taverns ( which I loved and cried the day they were banned), so I started looking around for "men only" signage. But it just appears that that British men prefer to drink only in the company of other men. Can make pub hoping for a couple uncomfortable.More

The East India was the first pub I went to in the City, on my first day working, 50 plus years ago. Then, as now, no food (other than crisps, nuts etc) was served. My visit yesterday was hardly any different. Not much has changed....There are ladies loos, now - as pictures on the wall show, ladies had to use the public toilets outside - even though there are still few ladies as customers. The sawdust on the floor has virtually disappeared, but the clientele is still predominately male City types who enjoy an excellent pint served by excellent bar staff.More
