Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Coming back from the British Museum took a gamble on choosing this for our much needed repast come mid-afternoon. And found ourself with a winner, the meal was surprisingly swift in being served despite being tailored to our preferences too. The wife thoroughly enjoying her...huge haddock portion, and I likewise my most excellent 'naked' burger. Tasted as just cooked, rather than having lingered under a hot lamp. Service and the staff excellent, keeping the area commendaby clean. This was pub lunch at it's finest.More

This is a wonderful pub, selling great Shepherd Neame beers. The staff were wonderfully helpful and pleasant. A good place to drink. Will aim to come again next time in London.

We visited for a couple of pints on our way through Bloomsbury and we were very happy with our experience! Friendly staff, good selection of beer on tap and the pub is well looked after. We didn’t have any food, but the prices seemed reasonable....Would certainly visit again!More

Decent enough food here with haddock and chips x 3 and a ham and egg salad with chips and chutney ordered with hunger. The four of us all enjoyed our meals eating every morsel. The dining room upstairs is a pleasant airy place with many...windows allowing natural light to enter giving a nice feel. We did find all of the staff very friendly and attentive giving info on gluten free food with good knowledge and manners. Lovely touch. £17 or £18 pound for haddock and chips, £14 for the ham meal , not too bad considering they were lovely. We would easy return to the Bloomsbury if ever in the area again.More

Had a couple of good nights in here. Didn’t eat, though the meals looked good. Just drinks with friends. Great atmosphere

Really can’t go in here again. Not my first review, Shepherd and Neame brewery should look into this place. An ale drinker gets only one Neame ale choice and I thought it may have been a bit off as I was eating peanuts but when...I had finished the peanuts I was half way through the drink and realised it was flat and off. Got up and said you should sort the beer out it’s not right snd the reply was I will let them know. Ie the landlord. Not do you want a half of something else! I needed something else to get the taste out of my mouth, I had a couple of great pints that night this was definitely a wrong!More

Ok it’s definitely worth a visit. Nice old pub atmosphere. I normally find the bar staff helpful. Not many seats though. It’s small. Just this lately I’ve suspected a lot of pubs prices going up higher than the norm. If you think that £5.10 is...cheap for a pint of bitter in London then be my guest. It was a nice pint from one of my favourite breweries but I’m now going to shop around more as the purse strings tighten. For what it is food a bit pricey too. All in all I’m not going too be taken for a ride. Watch out, prices for the drinks are nowhere too be seen like most places.More

Great pub but forget the poorly quality, expensive food. Sausage sandwich £5.95, contained 1 x microwaved rock hard sausage.

The pints were just fine and the atmosphere good for lunch. Decent fish and chips but nothing to write home about. Very friendly personnel. The location makes this a logical choice.

Today we went to The Bloomsbury Tavern and it was average. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. But, the service was very slow and could have been quicker.
