We tried the scallops as a starter and followed that with hake. The food was presented without fuss and tasted as if it had been caught that day - super fish dishes priced reasonably just off Tower Bridge. Manuel Vilas the chef has got this...More

Based on the reviews here we really wanted to try Orpheus. When we got there yesterday evening at 7:00 the place was empty. Empty. The owner apologized that he had to close for the evening. I felt so sorry for him. Guess the 70s interior...More

Unlikely to walk past this old and very well established City hide-a-way but really worth the effort to find - and only two minutes walk from Tower Bridge. The entrance and bar are from a bygone era but retain an undoubted character - as does...More

Excellent seafood and fish, even if the decor doesn't appear to have been touched since the 1970s. I've been here several times now and have always had excellent fish. On this occasion, I have the coquilles St Jacques, followed by beautiful, simple lemon sole. My...More

A very friendly bar/restaurant. A great place to meet up with friends. Have used the restaurant ( great fish ) many times and the bar food is excellent too. In need of a refurb which I understand is soon to take place.

1970s retro decor is not for everyone but if you look beyond that, this is a solid restaurant. Fish in all its forms is the speciality and usually, not always, the chef or maitre d' will bring round fillets of the fish available. Last visit...More

I've been here several times, and have enjoyed introducing the restaurant to others. However, on my most recent visit the restaurant didn't offer its usual selling point - the waiter coming round with the plate of fish from which one could make a selection for...More

City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to
its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile
in the world, the financial district known simply as
“The City” is one of London's most historic and
fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office
towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with
Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually
every era in between, including Christopher Wren's
