Great place!

I tend to go here quiet a bit but haven’t ever written a review. The customer service is good.. can be a tad hit and miss sometimes but majority of the time it’s good. Shisha is good. Slightly expensive but it’s decent. Food comes in a large portion so it’s definitely worth the money. Food is fresh too! They sell alcohol too.. so it’s a good atmosphere for friends who smoke and drink to hang out.

Always great

I popped here with my family for a spontaneous Saturday lunchtime meal. We ordered a variety of dishes which we all found very tasty. The complimentary Turkish bread and dips given at the beginning of the meal are always delicious and welcomed. The staff are also very friendly.

Best lamb ever!

Can I just start by thanking the staff for an amazing night. Couldn't fault a single one of them. I've been to many Turkish restaurants in my time and this is by far my favorite. The starters were brought out very quickly which we we're then asked when we would like our mains started. The lamb was the juiciest I've had in a long time with lovely fresh salad. That next to those tasty cocktails... I was in heaven. I'll definitely be back. Thank you.

My friend and I went to Istanbul for our last meal before lockdown. I rang a few days before to book a table to eat indoors and asked if I could book a table after outdoors for shisha. I was told by the employee not to worry and it would be ok I didn't need to book a table for outside and to "just come." When my friend and I arrived we were placed at a table by the door. I asked if they had any other tables as it was quite chilly by the door. I was told there were no other tables. A few moments later 2 other groups of 2 arrived and were sat at tables elsewhere in the restaurant. I mentioned to the waiter that when I booked I was advised I wouldn't need to book a table outside for shisha but that the restaurant was getting busier and busier. I asked if we could get a table outside for after. The waiter told me that what I was told over the phone was wrong and that they don't take reservations over the phone for the outside area (which is incorrect becuase when I originally booked I was asked if I wanted to sit indoors or outdoors). He said that if a table becomes available outside they would move us. We asked 3 waiters/waitresses if there were any tables available outside during our meal none of them came back to us. I also went outside myself to ask the waiters outside and was told the same, if a table becomes available they will move us. The food came out quick which was good but it was below standard in taste compared to other times I have been. I understand that the hospitality industry are going to suffer with lockdown and the restaurant were clearly trying to make as much as they could before they close for a month but it was chaos in there. It looked like they abandoned their booking system and were taking walk ins instead. They should have focused on providing good quality food and customer service rather than trying to get as many people as they could through the door. Due to my experience it is unlikely I will return here after lockdown which is a shame as I have been here a number of times.

Tasteless lamb ribs, but nice adana and chips

Came here during lunch on a late saturday afternoon, and ordered the lamb ribs with lamb doner meal, but regretted this after taking a bite of each meat. No flavour and strong smell. But my friends adana kebab was tasty and I was a fan of the chips. Good service and nice atmosphere.

Not Covid 19 safe

I was part of a party of 4 who had lunch at Istanbul Meze Mangal, 222 , on the 15th August. I note we sat inside. Apart from the hand sanitiser by the door, and a notice to keep 2 meters apart I was very disappointed, to my untrained eye, how Covid 19 unsafe it was. Our contact details were not taken. None of the staff had any form of PPE. The staff went from one table to the next, bring food and drink, or removing dirties, seemingly not washing their hands between each task. We were told we could sit where we wanted. This means we could have chosen to sit less then 2 meters away from another party. We observed no evidence of high risk areas, ie door handles, the card machine being cleaned. Both on entering and leaving the restaurant we observed 2 chefs having a smoke outside by the side of the building. They were very close together.

Saturday night extremely busy and noisy which is fine, service was ok bit slow at times but not to bad. The food was nothing special but ok again. Salad Salad Salad with everything a little mean on the meat side of it. It's ok here if you like the party type atmosphere but not good value for money, the service charges especially on drink should not be in place as the prices of all the beers wine etc are way above normal so they should be happy with the profit on drinks alone. Overall just a glorified Kebab Place don't expect too much, Don't think I would go again as it's not personal enough, but if you like Salad and noise and party party you'll be fine. Finally it's Not as inexpensive as you might think beware service charges it's not clear on the menu.

We attended as a family for a meal . We had to call the waiters to say we were ready to order . The food was enjoyable , Music was fine . But our waiter mixed up the orders and when they came with meals they went to one table and didn't check if the item ordered belonged to the next table which resulted in someone getting someone else's and another item been returned. To crown it off I went to use the bathroom and there was no soap!!!! In a time like this. This is unacceptable if you know your going to open you should have stocked up . I had to wait 10 minutes and even then a lady came back with not even half a bottle it was a tidy amount in the bottle. So in the whole of the restaurant no soap!!! Wow ! The draws were open im the bathroom and there was no stock of soap either nothing . Washing hands with soap has always been on the cards prior to pandemic so how can we not have stock even more so now ?

Words can't describe my disappointment

Went to this restaurant last Saturday with family and friends after visiting two years ago and being very impressed. Boy, am I not impressed now. The staff were rude, unresponsive, and unhelpful. A drink ordered upon entry never appeared, the same goes for bread, that was supposed to be served with my undercooked and overpriced food. I would call this restaurant amateurish, but that would be an insult to the hardworking amateurs out there. Shameful! p.s. I did not recognise any Turkish being spoke between staff. Rather, some strange Eastern European tongue. Suspicious.

My meat day Sunday

There was a nice crowd on SUNDAY so we chose this day.Friday and Saturday it's almost impossible to find a place and it's very noisy. Although we live close to the restaurant, it is not a place we visit very often, but whenever we want to eat meat, the only place we go is Istanbul. We were sitting in the restaurant all the time, but this time we had a drink in the garden after dinner. It was a really enjoyable meal. service was good as always but they are very professional about cocktails

It was our first time at Istambul Meze, we were a goup of 6, we had a table outdoors as per government restrictions. We had an absolutely wonderful meal of chicken and lamb, and shared a bottle of wine. The restaurant was extremely busy with several groups and yet the staff were super attentive and our food was not delayed. The atmosphere was fantastic, the musc was excellent. We will definitely return! Absolutely great food and fabulous customer service.

Good local restaurant

Good local restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I went with my sister and friends for a catch-up and first real social activity following lockdown. The restaurant is local for most of the party but there is local free parking on an evening which is great, which in the current climate was an important factor to limit travel. It was busy but given the climate and high demand for for good local restaurants it was to be expected but we had plenty of time to catch-up and relax in a nice buzzing atmosphere.

Excellent food and service

We enjoyed a wonderful evening with my husband and friends yesterday. It’s really nice place to visit. The food was delicious, especially grilled meat. We had mix grill 8 which is now my favourite. All staff are very welcoming and friendly. Mostly Julia was looking after our table and she always made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks for great service and food. It was really great experience! Definitely recommend!

The restaurant has limited parking but across the road you can park for two hours without penalty. BUT if you go over this limit, you will face an automatic fine for £60 because cameras will pick you when you enter and when you leave. Recently decorated, it look very attractive. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. For the menue, please see pictures or their website. For the conservatives among, you may find the serving of alcohol and exceptionally loud music a big problem. The food portions are exceptionally generous including the starters. The food for two can easily be eaten by four. The restaurant offers a list of delicious Turkish dishes. You can mostly book this restaurant in advance.

Terrible customer service

I came with my family for my sons 18th birthday. Upon arrival they immediately tried to send us to the outside shisha lounge. I explained we never booked for this section and they were very dismissive. They expected us to sit in this smoky section till they found us a table. We refused and opted to stand at front of restaurant which they did not like. Waited 45 mins yo be seated, no apologies or offer of drink etc whilst we waited for inconvenience. When we were seated they were rude and had no customer service skills. When asking for drinks we ordered they just said wait it's coming. Food was below average and they had the audacity to add service charge. Very disappointed. I will not be back!
