This is a lovely place to go for a coffee or a beer/wine - one of the few actual good cafe bars in London. It's not all boozed up like a pub, but it's also not all prim like a cafe which closes at 4pm....More

Came here for a quick cocktail last week and really liked the bar itself, it's small and cozy with nice music but we were the only people there so it completely lacked atmosphere. Cocktails were average and £11 for an espresso martini is a little...More

This a a friendly independent cafe in Holborn, which makes a great change from the chain coffee shops that seem to be on every high street these days. The menu is unusual, with a mix of food available (eg sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche, stew etc)...More

Met with friends here for a pre-meal drink before visiting the nearby Bull Steak Expert. It's small, compact and cosy, but had a nice vibe. It feels more like a bohemian cafe than a modern bar, with a mixture of wooden furniture and comfy sofas....More

I ate at this cafe last night with a large group. It was obvious from the start they were not used to catering for such a large group . As the service was very slow and food took over 1.5hours to come out despite arriving...More

I popped in to grab a quick soup/stew which I was told was both meaty and hearty. Not only did it take a strangely long time to be put into a takeaway pot, it was also rather overpriced. I was disappointed to get back to...More

Hidden gems are what makes a city - you walk round a corner, past the chain restaurant or tourist dive and find one. And Fairly Square is that. Hand prepared food, organic wines and beers, a happy hour, lovely coffees and a smile. I asked...More

Fairly Square bills itself as London’s first Fair Trade Bar and Café and I was intrigued to visit having been sent a weblink by a colleague. On visiting it’s clear that it’s more than just Fair Trade and they place an emphasis on the supporting...More

I stopped here briefly with a few friends for lunch last week as we were in a hurry and needed food; whilst the food was good the service certainly let the cafe down. Upon our entry it was completely empty with the waitress behind the...More

I've tried lunch here, I've had a drink here, and I've tried their cookies. All good. There's a nice feel to the place, especially getting away from the bland, Scooby Doo-style chain coffee/sandwich/lunch shops around the main strip of High Holborn. The folks working here...More

Inner London’s busiest streets crisscross quiet
cobbled lanes for an effect that can be urbane or
quaint – or an intriguing blend of both – depending on
the particular corner you turn. Due to its especially
convenient location, bustling Holborn hosts an
excellent range of hotels, eateries, and shops to suit
practically any taste or budget. With major
attractions like the British Museum and Somerset House
