A huge thankyou to Fiona ( manager ) and all the staff for the most fabulous afternoon in this fine establishment. We ( retired Bart's nurses ) were made so welcome, the food was delicious....loads of it . Fiona was unbelievably lovely to us all.... It made our 50th reunion such a happy one . I can highly recommend a visit if you're in the area ☺️More
Superb proper old London pub that has moved with the times without ruining the ambiance and period style with minor changes. Great location away from the main areas of St Paul’s but so close and of course near the iconic market area. Good old time...inside with superb old look with loads of polished dark wood, decorative bar extending to the walls with loads of things to look at and read. Mega staff are on it, good selection of seating and bar stools. Reasonably long bar with all you need. As an Ale drinker I was in my element ordering well kept Ales. Full of life. Couldn’t help ordering a bar snack; succulent chicken wings were fab. Staff were great in quick response and spotting who was waiting. Music nice and low so people can speak. Perfect vibe. Don’t miss this gem!More
We were staying at the nearby Premier Inn and needed some lunch before heading into the West End for a show. Walking along and saw the Shepherd Neame brewery sign which is a favourite of ours, so we popped in. I'm glad we did. Staff...were accommodating with getting a table for us and the kids and very friendly. Menu choices were great and spoilt for choice. We had the sausage platter, and it was Amazing. We chose our sausage picks from the selection on the board. It was a lunch of dreams in my eyes and kept us full for the best part of the day. Plenty of bread and butter to accompany and mustard and onions. Kids had Ham, eggs, and chips and the other was a ham sandwich. They are proper cuts of Ham, which always points to good quality. Needless to say, there wasn't much left. Service remained good and the toilets were of a high standard ( personal test of mine in any establishment). It's a lovely area upstairs, should it get busy. Old fashioned pub, as how they should be. If we are back in the area , we would definitely come back. Thank youMore

An attractive and traditional looking pub just across the road from Smithfield Market, it’s reasonably compact internally and was pretty much full to capacity on my recent Tuesday evening visit, although I did manage to squeeze in to a small table in the corner. The...menu offered a decent selection of pub grub dishes, including a number of sausages which appear to be something of a speciality, with today’s selection chalked up on a blackboard. I opted for the smoked haddock fishcakes with chips and peas and these came complete with a miniature bucket of tartar sauce. The fish cakes were unusually large and flat and perfectly adequate, if nothing spectacular, whilst the tartar sauce was very good (home-made?) but the chips were a little flabby and undercooked. However, given the location, I thought they were exceptional value. The menu listed them at £12.50, but I was charged £10.50. Whether they made a mistake, or there was some sort of a deal on, I’m not sure, but either price seems very good. Staff were very pleasant and friendly, and I’d happily return if in the area.More
If you want to experience what it’s like having a beer that tastes like p*** mixed with olives in a place that is dank, dark and invokes the vision of 12th century execution chambers and smells like a public toilet located in an abattoir then...this will be your perfect drinking spot. Best bit about this place is the fact there is an exit door.More
Stopped in this evening with some colleagues and was greeted by a very sour-faced pair of staff who grudgingly served us a single drink then rang time 20 minutes early. Average beer, terrible staff, avoid.
Average service… if not less… average food… no love here. Pay eat and leave seems the motto. Friendliness & courtesy you find elsewhere. There‘s potential here but again, no love no pride no joy. Never again…
No Master Brew !! Shepherd Neam's best beer. It is what I rushed to The Bishop's Finger to drink. Please fix this omission.
Lovely chap serving, but charged 7£ for two half pints… just had the same in a pub in Victoria for £5.90. Half a lager and half an IPA. Place was absolutely fine but just a bit steep.
Poor attitude of staff at 945, thought they were in for early night on a Wednesday. Urged us to drink up at 1025 as though they needed to shut
My favourite pub in the area. Warm welcome and the feel of a proper local. The return of Bishops Finger Ale to the Bishops Finger is the icing on the cake. With the high quality of the beer and the tempting food menu my "pub...appreciation tour" very nearly started and finished here 😀More
