Looks like a lovely venue from the outside - but complete shambles of a restaurant on the inside! The food is average and overpriced - no better than anything you'd get from a cafe rouge chain - and lacks atmosphere. The provision of condiments was equivalent to war time rationing and the management came across like an episode of faulty... More

Whilst looking for somewhere for a Pre Theatre meal found a deal on Travelzoo for a three course a la carte dinner for £59.00 for 2 with a glass of prosecco. The meal was first class and the service excellent. It is far enough away from Piccadilly not to be overcrowded and the complementary small warm madeleine cake after the... More

Very positive experience at this French restaurant, with a good value deal available on Bookatable (£25 for 3-course + prosecco). The service was better than expected (a bit more formal than a typical brasserie) but delivered by attentive staff and their manager, heedful of ensuring that everything was going well throughout the meal. 5/5 Regarding food, I have to set... We visited on 28th December. Its a proper French looking restaurant with great front of house staff. The manager however needs some training in how to remedy a problem. His eventual gestures to create goodwill were needed earlier. I booked 2 Travelzoo vouchers @£59 each for four of us. Unfortunately these were not valid until 3rd January. This was an... More

As this gentleman has said, we have been in private correspondence. He conceded that his original review was somewhat unbalanced and I am happy to see that he has now posted a more balanced one - thank you. We disagree with his review but his opinions are his to have. We of course have our own opinions. His un-discounted bill... More

Having booked Boulestin's for a bottomless brunch for a group of friends to start celebrating new years eve (which was advertised on their brunch menu when i booked) we turned up to be told that no such thing exists. Having called up the restaurant the day before to confirm the bottomless brunch, we were told with confidence by the person... More

You called and asked a receptionist, who has never heard about something called an “unlimited brunch”, whether we offered it?  He had no knowledge of this offering, (why would he - we don’t have it) but he misheard you and merely heard “brunch”, which of course we do offer.  We tried doing an “unlimited brunch” some years ago but the... I took a party of 10 to Boulestin in December and we all remarked on what a super restaurant this is. We had impeccable service throughout and the food was of an extremely high standard. Given that Boulestin is not expensive for St James's, I was very surprised on the upside by our experience and will return! Lunch, including a... More

Last ate here on Valentine's Day and it was delicious and packed ! Dec 20 and it should have been busy ,it wasn't. Starter of octopus was quite meaty but nothing out of the ordinary . Main of duck confit was not great . The duck was cooked ok but sat in a great blob of creamed potatoe with a... More

This restaurant feels like a little bit of Paris in one of our favourite street sin London, between Piccadilly and St. James Park. The welcome and service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the food and the extensive wine list. Our food was sensational. The char grilled octopus with very interesting accompaniments was a great starter, and duck confit with... More

We booked the Boulestin on a deal from booking.com so it was good value but otherwise we were a little disappointed. The restaurant was not very busy (early evening) and with no background music (which some might like) it lacked a little atmosphere. I thought the food was just about OK, my wife had cod for main course which she... More

Boulestin is an elegant and convivial Restaurant and brasserie-style Cafe in St James's serving classic French dishes inspired by the 20th-century food expert and first TV chef, Xavier Marcel Boulestin. The brain-child of renowned restaurateur, Joel Kissin, Boulestin brings back old-school dishes such as Oeuf en Gelee, Jambon Persille, Daube of Beef, Steak Tartare and Cassoulet, using M. Boulestin's original recipes, and couples them with impeccable service. With a Private Dining Room and pretty outdoor terrace-style Courtyard for al fresco dining, Boulestin is the perfect destination, whether you're after a celebratory dinner, special event dining, pre/post theatre meal or just a quick bite or light meal in the Cafe.

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
