Shocking customer service. Arrived to dine in and was totally ignored by staff. No smile or acknowledgement of our presence. And there were only 6 customers who were already seated. So, we left and went to Nandos which was. Fantastic in all areas.

I bought food from here and considering I’ve never been there and every other Caribbean restaurant I’ve been to serve’s basmati rice.I bought my food and went home to find it was long grain rice and I hate long grain rice, so I drove all...the way back and kindly told them and asked for a refund or to change my order and considering I spent £21 I thought they would be able to do so but they told me “there’s nothing we can do as u left the shop” but very clearly I had been there 5 minutes ago and hadn’t even touched the food !! Very unhappy and wouldn’t go back for that reason or recommend it to anyone. Any other restaurant would have either given us our money back and taken the food back or changed the order for us I’ve never been to a restaurant and they refuse to accommodate our needs after spending money especially £21. Never ever going to this place again they clearly don’t care about customers they care about moneyMore

I've been going to Calabash regularly for the last few years, as it's local to work. I love Jamaican food, as all my family are Jamaican, and I like to support my own. Unfortunately, almost every time I visit there, the staff are unwelcoming, unfriendly,...slow, and genuinely seem like they hate being there. The food is very hit and miss, on several occasions I asked for gravy with the meal, only to find that it's not there when I get to work or home. How long is this stereotypical behaviour going to continue? It's so unnecessary, and is an all too familiar representation of Jamaicans.More

Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is amazing. Great value as well (£6/£7 for a main). And the portions are very generous.

Used the restaurant a few times now. It does sell out in the evenings, but I guess that's a good thing. Good choice.

This was in all honesty absolutely horrific. Calabash is now my first place for the worst Caribbean food I have ever experienced from a restaurant. First let me start by a saying that I am by no means blaming of the front of house staff....They seemed, on what was a Sunday afternoon, completely overwhelmed by and clueless of how to manage the demands of the food delivery industry. Not only did there seem to me not to be enough staff working, but it seemed as though the staff had certainly received insufficient training. Truth be told, I felt genuinely sympathetic towards them as they were clearly frustrated by the situation that they had found themselves in and were genuinely trying their best. In truth I blame whomever pays their wage. Be it the manager/owner, it is in my opinion, unethical to have your staff work in conditions such as those with absolutely no support. As the title states, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! Several customers just walked out after placing their order, and another couple waited so long for their takeaway that they changed their mind and decided to ask for their money back. With regards to my order: The beer I ordered was not cold, it was not even warm, it was HOT! I asked for a cold replacement and was told that I would need to wait for the beer to cool down whilst they put it in the freezer. Needless to say I declined. The microwaved curry mutton with rice and peas arrived luke warm around the edges OF THE RICE! How on earth does one not even manage to heat up rice properly? The mutton was actually dangerously cold. Obviously I returned the plate straight away and decided it best not to eat there. My wife ordered a large stewed oxtail with rice and peas. This certainly was not a large portion as on the plate were literally five small pieces of oxtail. Again the meal arrived microwaved and Luke warm. The taste, my wife described as mediocre at best. And only consumed probably a third of the meals contents. And finally our friend who was eating with us. She ordered a roti and a piece of fried chicken. The roti arrived first, MICROWAVED and sweating on the plate! Five minutes later, the piece of fried chicken arrived and I can only describe it as laughable. It was the kind of chicken that you would see in a dirty fish and chip shop in the high street. You know the kind that really only sells fish and chips, but they cook up a few pieces of chicken at the start of the day and leave them there on the off chance that some obese buy and his dog decide to have a bit of a grease binge! That piece of chicken was disgusting, and when I was told by my friend to have a taste of it to sample just how bad and flavourless it was, I can only say that I truly do regret it as it has resulted in me not going into work today due to a 'dodgy belly'! Its an absolute insult to that dead chicken to have ever killed it. I am certain that had that chicken had an idea of the level of barbarity that would be inflicted upon its carcus by that so called chef, then I know it would have put up a hell of a bigger fight before losing its head! What really topped it off for me was when I told the staff about that piece of chicken, the lady asked me how much of the chicken had been eaten by my friend. In truth hardly any of it had been consumed, but I just thought it so hilarious that she suggested charging me for half of the piece of chicken because that was what had been eaten that I accepted this just and so I could share the story the next day at work!!! (I guess it was actually she who would have the last laugh)!! This was honestly the worst Caribbean food I have ever tasted and I, as I'm sure you can tell, i will not be returning and will not be recommending! Complete rubbish!!More
