Dropping in for a late lunch for three, we were impressed with being fitted in with friendly service and excellent meat and chicken pies at this 'olde' world riverside pub. As well as being delighted, that despite ordering single glasses, I was charged 'bottle rates' when paying the bill.
Well done ALL at ToR and looking forward to visiting again soon!

An interesting pub with a history. The cellars were used to keep impressed men before they joined the Royal Navy (against their will) and later for Transportees to Australia. Back to modern times - I had an excellent mushroom omelet made with fresh mushrooms, and chips there last week, friendly barman, will definitely return for lunch.

I had a lovely evening here 2 days ago. Had a stressful work day and this place just allowed me to really let my hair down. Usually I don’t leave reviews but after a negative experience down the road at another pub I thought it was important to amplify just how special chilled, relaxed and friendly spaces like this are + lovely food. The manager / owner after an hour or two remembered our order and our names, which just only added to how they showed that they valued their customers.
Will definitely be making sure we come here for our regular after work drinks and food from now on.

I selected this pub out of three possible venues to host my tour guests. I was not disappointed. The staff are just lovely. The pub was very atmospheric with Halloween stuff and my group on the tour found the food to be gorgeous and plentiful and the staff just so nice. The team who run this pub are true professionals and they know the meaning of service (something which is sadly lacking in London sometimes). If you love history then this place is positively brimming with it. Too much to list here but the pub has the history on its website. What more could you ask for? A rich history, exceptionally friendly staff and good food and drink too. Top points. If I lived in this area it would be my local.

9 of us walked up from St Kats marina where we had our boats and enjoyed a hearty meal in old world surroundings. All were well fed and watered. Food was of good quality and good value considering London prices. Only down side was the music that could have either been turned down or dispensed with as the pub became busy and conversation noise increased. You could pay up front or run a tab but be warned it’s card only.

I stopped off here because the adjoining stairs were closed for renovations. I stood out in the garden looking at the river, imagining Judge Jeffrey’s attempted escape after the Glorious Revolution. A barmaid caught the moment for posterity, for reasons best known to herself.
The man I assume is the owner kindly gave me an information leaflet when he noticed my giving the art work and historical information festooning the walls the once over. The effort is a credit to him. I wish all historic pubs would take a leaf from his book!

Went in here Saturday night, pub is a fantastic building and the food looks great with a good friendly atmosphere. However, all that ruined by 5 minutes of madness from the barman/wannabe John Travolta. We were sat on a table when approached by a member of staff and told to get up and leave due to a group of 15 coming in. After questioning this, we were told to “chop chop” and get up. Shocked, as we’d just ordered Cicra £50 worth of food, we asked why he didn’t approach and say there’s a group booking can we see if we can seat you elsewhere. To only be met by even more rudeness, leaving his colleagues embarrassed and apologising on his behalf. I must mention that the other staff were nothing but professional. Needless to say, we asked for a refund and left. Shame as it let the whole place down..

We came in on a Sunday and we’re delighted to partake in the pub’s Sunday Roast. It was lovely and delicious, but the best part was how friendly the staff was. It can be difficult traveling with young children, and it makes all the difference when people are just really nice. We loved our lunch, and will be back on our next trip to London!!!

We popped in for food but could not see any menus so assumed that they were not serving meals. Had a drink while we were here and used the ladies which was very clean and fresh. Drinks were reasonably priced just a shame there was no food on offer as we would definitely have eaten here.

What a wonderful little find this place was, only a short walk from the Tower Bridge. A classic English pub, with very friendly staff, which serves very good pub fare. My wife and I tried the pies (Steak & Ale for me and Chicken & Leek for my wife) and they were both delicious. Our daughter also enjoyed her bangers and mash. After trying a few of the local pubs, the Town of Ramsgate would have to be our favorite to date. Great spot for an ale or two as well.

First visit here and definitely won’t be my last.
We were instantly made to feel welcome by the staff, the Australian waiter was friendly and attentive throughout our visit.
We sat outside with a lovely river view but next time will book and stay for food.

We arrived at midday, although we had checked the pub on this site we thought we did not have to book. But when we turned up some tables were reserved. We were not to worry however, as the very friendly team of bar staff said that the table of six that was reserved was for parties like us. So all good. The service, and food was great. A really good afternoon spent with friends, and although the bar team and serving team were busy, we were very happy with the food and service. Thank you very much to the team for making our day very enjoyable.

I’d seen two separate good recommendations for this pub, so I’d wanted to come here for a while. As we were in the area, we stopped for a late lunch. The bar man was friendly and helpful, and the food was fab with good service and great value for money (fish & chips and ham, egg & chips). It suited us really well. Thank you.

Ordered a salmon, goats cheese and beetroot salad. After a half an hour wait, salad came without the goats cheese and beetroot. Salmon was not freshly cooked and appeared dry and hard. Pricey at £16.90.

I’ve been to this pub many times. The atmosphere and vibe is always great. It’s nice on a sunny day to sit out in the garden on the river and watch the boats go by. Inside is cozy and staff are friendly. The pepperoni pizza is always a good paired with a few beers! There’s a nice selection of snacks and if wine is your choice of drink they have a great selection of higher end wines if you are looking for something more then the usual house choice!
