Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Website states the cafe is open until 5 pm, but, at 4 o'clock today, I found it well and truly shut up... It's had good reviews in the past, including in the Green Chain Walk guide, but I'm wondering whether there's been a change of...ownership? Obviously, I can't rate it properly at the moment.More

Another fabulous meal!!! I love this cafe. The food is terrific... a nice full plate and always well cooked and tasty. Compliments to the great chef(s)!!! The setting at the top of the hill on Oxleas Meadow is wonderful with stunning views across the area....On a good day you can see for miles. The staff at the cafe are all lovely. They are courteous, professional and always friendly. They are so pleasant. I've really got to know Bebe, Angel, Kay and Amy... and they are all really wonderful people. Rambo is great and the chef, Memo, is first rate. Thank you!!! This really is a great cafe that is highly recommended. The Turkish breakfast is legendary and I also love the omelettes, salads and kebab meat. Great!!! Thank you!!!More

I loved this cafe. Great menu, good vegetarian options, lovely staff and I had the best homemade tomato soup with warm bread and butter. My friend’s halloumi wrap with avocado and chilli jam was delicious. The kitchen is open and looked spotless and the atmosphere...was friendly and welcoming. It’s a really good cafe with a varied menu.More

What a welcome sight as we walked the Green Chain Way from Thames Barrier-Mottingham and the food and cafe did not disappoint. The number of visitors showed we weren’t the only ones who appreciated this cafe - many of the visitors appeared to be locals...returning to a favourite haunt.More

Great location with lovely views. Good food with lots of choice and friendly service, makes you feel quite at home. I was there with a friend who is a wheelchair user, she loved it as the cafe was easily accessible with disabled toilets available. With...the paths she was able to go a little way into the woods which she hasn’t been able to do so for years. Will definitely be returning.More

Oxleas Cafe is a great little spot to stop off at during a walk through beautiful Oxleas Woods to take in the views and the fresh air. The service is efficient and friendly, and whilst my veggie breakfast arrived quickly, the food was disappointing. My...decaf coffee was exceptionally bitter, and the toast was hard and overdone. Instead of the potato and veg mix sausages, I’d love to see the cafe include a ‘proper’ Quorn style veggie sausage as the breakfast already comes with two big hash browns so there’s a potato overload. Some higher quality products would be very welcome and would make a huge difference. Overall, it’s a good spot but I’d probably give the food a miss unless you’re just having something like tea and cakeMore

Excellent service and food. Hardworking staff, efficient and friendly at such a busy time. I visited with the Ramblers today, after a short walk through the woods. Wonderful - I live local so to find somewhere so friendly, popular and efficient, with an effective team...of staff on such a hot day too, is a gift (and a huge relief). Thanks to all.More

Always a great place to go. Fab food, coffee and the staff are young, friendly and very professional. They always serve with a smile. I love the Turkish breakfast here… in fact… I think I’m addicted. It’s great value and absolutely delicious! Thank you!! MJ

The friendliest, most hard working staff in a family-style restaurant and an extraordinay location. One of the nicest undiscovered areas of South East London, next to Shooters Hill Road which Dickens talks about in "Tale of Two Cities".

First visit to this cafe. The carrot cake was the best we have ever tasted and a very generous portion! Very reasonable prices. Lovely views. Highly recommended.

Eaten there many times and always good service and lovely food. A very varied menu and food is always good and the prices are very reasonable. They have a very small kitchen and sometimes you may have to wait a while but it is always...served as quickly as they can . After all it is a cafe and not a restaurant so be patient. Stunning views over Kent especially on a lovely sunny day. If you have had a bad experience go back and try again as we all have off days ourselves.More

We parked our car at 1:45 & took some photo & video around the cafe’, we got in the hut & bought 2 dishes & 3 drinks. 2 girls served us warmly & efficiently. $7.00 per person for delicious & hot f&d, definitely well worth...it. We sat inside the hut, as we’re not that used to outside windy & cold. By 2:00 it’s a busy lunch session for the cafe’. I’d noticed there’re a few Asian customers. Wish more local & tourists can have nice experience in Oxlae as we did. As my 3rd visit to London in 6 years, condition of public toilets of hot places have been far from satisfactory.More
