Beautiful customer service, warm and delicious food! I’d be proud to bring my non Trini friends here for a true taste of home. Thank you to the lovely lady who made this chicken wrap roti for me and wrapped it up so well with foil...so that it was still warm by the time I got back to my hotel. Loved every minute of it - a heartwarming meal for this homesick soul!More
I had just had the best veggie roti. My tastebuds have been blessed by the food and my being has been blessed by the lovely lady who served me. Spinach, chickpea and potato and a tasty hot sauce. All fresh. Not reheating. 😋 You can...tell their food was prepared, cooked and presented with love.More
We were out shopping wanted something to eat., A lady recommend the shop Chaconia. The lady in the shop was really nice and she explained what the items was on the menu. We ordered 1 Stew chicken Roti and 1 Curry Chicken Roti.....Which was just...out of this world.More
If you are looking for Authentic homemade food, Chaconia is the place to go. The food is made by an amazing woman that puts love in her work (food). She has a passion for cooking and it shows in her food. It’s a one woman...show, she cooks, serves and will tell you stories, this lady is a superwoman! Trust me, go visit her restaurant and you will recommend it to all your friends. Good job! Keep making people smile with your food!More
went here on a whim 1 because i cant find hardly any West Indian takeaways in East London and 2 because the Minute i saw a Trini takeaway (being half Trini myself) i had to go! The Women who owns the story was amazing, great...conversation at a human and friendly level and the Roti and Meat i had was just like back home in Trini, definitely homemade and not just a statement. 9/10 im definitely going back !More
Come here for authentic Caribbean cuisine at a great price. I would recommend the curry chicken with rice.
I'd lived in the area for fifteen years before a friend from New York said I absolutely had to try this roti place she'd read so much about. The decor is plain white and modest, so I hadn't spotted it, but the food turned out...to be AMAZING and it's one of my favourite places to eat now. The owner makes the roti herself (it's a bit like a tortilla or chapatti, only nicer), and the filling I order most often is a combination of goat, pumpkin and spinach, with a tiny dash of her wonderful homemade scotch bonnet hot sauce (treat with extreme caution!), and a big glass of her spiced sorrel juice. You can get vegetarian fillings, too. The owner's friendly and chatty and I've learned a lot about the area from her. There are two tables with four chairs at each. Don't go too near to closing time or she might have run out of food by then: it's all fresh and made right there. SO good.More
Was missing my beloved Trinidad and the food here filled that void. Great service and food for most dietary requirements! Everything is home made and the owner is an absolute gem. I couldn't thank her enough!
Thanks so much for your review, we do our best to give you guys the best food and the best service! We hope to see you again soon so we can fill you with some more Trini food!
I discovered this place about 3 years ago and the food is just as good today as it was then. The price is great and ofcouse the 'Governess' herself who runs it, is such a lovely lady. She is a wealth of knowledge and always...gives great advice. Her food is flavourful and you can request to have it more spicy if you want. Her hot pepper sauce is the real deal! I always order the vegetarian option and it's still as great and tasty today as it was when I first tried it 3 years ago. FYI she doesn't open on Mondays, however If you want to try great Caribbean food cooked with love, then Chaconia is a must!More
Thanks for reviewing us, we do hope you've been coming back regularly in those 3 years! We really appreciate your comments as the food we make really is cooked with love. And we're glad someone knows that our hot pepper sauce is not to be...More
Whenever I have stepped foot into that restaurant, I have been embraced by the mouth watering smells and greeted with a warm hello by the lady owner. Her food is prepared fresh daily and so lovingly. I have treated myself to home food from the...store every Friday since I moved to Deptford. I highly recommend the goat curry and chicken stew, with rice or roti, all washed down with beautiful sorrel drink. oh try the veggie dishes too, the spinach and cabbage are such great accompaniments to any dish!More
Thanks so much for your review Kevina, we appreciate your time coming onto TA to review us. We hope you continue to visit us every Friday, you already know good food will be waiting for you - hope to see you soon!
You have to try it. The food is absolutely delicious and home made with love, I could feel the excellent quality of the ingredients and how fresh they are. I specially recommend the Roti, chicken Stew, my favorite. The lady in the shop is absolutely...adorable, devoted to her cooking and in love with her culture. I'm in Paris at the moment and even here I'm thinking of her Roti, I would go all the way back just for that delight.More
Eternal thanks for your review Justine. We're really happy that you liked our food, we really do make it with love so appreciate it when people feel that. Hope your back from Paris by now and have been back to enjoy some more stew chicken!
Since Roti hut in shepards bush hardly opens any more, I've been searching for a shop selling proper Caribbean Roti as shops such as Roti joupa, Umana yana and bajan spice are not up to scratch. This shop was recommended to me by a friend...who lives in the area and I will be going there on a regular basis. Lovely smell when you walk in, surrounded by cleanliness. Items in the shop decently priced and tasty. As soon as I left the shop I regretted not buying more. I ordered a mini curry goat Roti with potato and pepper sauce.... The pepper sauce has lots of pepper so be careful lol. Also there are vegetarian or vegan options to explore. The lady that owns the shop is absolutely lovely. You can also call to pre order Roti skins without the filling. You can't collect them without ordering the day before though because a limited amount is made each day. Also if you want to get your Roti wrap, try and get there before 3pm because they tend to run out quicklyMore
We really, REALLY, love this review. It's great that someone knows that when we we're Roti specialists, we're definitely not kidding around - and especially from someone who clearly knows their Roti shops! We hope you came back to visit and eat more! Maybe next...More
