Really nice vibe and good live acts run by lovely people. Nice place to chill out and relax with friends or simply to drop by alone and not be hassled.

This is a welcoming gem of a bar. Friday night has live jazz of high quality from music college players who blow you away. Food is Eritrean and authentic with flavours which were new to means lovely. The welcome is really unusual as it is clear that the owner loves his bar and is pleased to see people come through... More

We hosted a leaving do here and could not have picked a nicer venue. The bar is nicely laid out and atmospheric when a lot of people come. Tim was really nice and very accommodating, satisfying all our needs and the wine/beer selection was great. We also recommend picking up some of the great Eritrean food. Definitely visit. (p.s. Me and my now girlfriend came here on our first date, after other bars in the area were closed (it was a Sunday night before a bank holiday) The drinks were well priced and everybody seemed to be having a cracking time, and an eventful evening culminated in us staying at Bar 48 until about 4am sampling their local Brixton... We've walked past this little gem on a number of occasions and always intended to pop in. We did on Friday night and we're so glad we did. The owners were so welcoming from the minute we walked in, making sure we had a good view of the music, talking us through the wonderful Eritrean food on offer and making... More

We recently moved in the area and we walk by the 48 during a jazz night. The day after we came back and they let us play the piano. Now every chance we get we go back, to drink, chill and chat. Everyone is very friendly and open minded, so the place has the best mood. We love it, hope... More

I co-hosted the first ever Sunday Sessions @ Bar 48 - live music and drinks. Fiyori and all the staff made us feel really welcome and it was the perfect venue with excellent drinks. We'll be back! I would recommend this - my local - to anyone who visits Oval. Everyone who came loved it.
