Excellent food, good atmosphere, helpful staff. I had the fish and chips, my partner had the beef burger, both were very good. Will certainly visit this pub again.

On the way to Liverpool Street Station popped in to the Bull for a few beers. Handful of ales on tap and happy hour until 7pm was on so £3 a pint. Not a big bar but a good few tables to sit at. Snacks and food on and nice vibe from the place. No music to spoil the chat... More

Two tables totalling 22 people for Christmas Lunch and we had an amazing time. Food was great and plenty of it. Wine was lovely including their own Pinot Noir which was superb. Good selection of wines on the wine list. The service from just two waitresses was impeccable.

We went to The Bull as a large group booking. Loved the decor in the restaurant, quite gastro pub looking and funky. We did pre-order our meals before hand but decided on some shared starters as we arrived. I think this threw the kitchen staff as when our main meals did come the majority were cold, I assume because they... More

Hi Lesley, Thanks for reviewing us. Glad you liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. Apologies it was not a 100% smooth service. I am pleased to hear the situation was rectified with some free fizz! Hope you ladies enjoyed the rest of your afternoon. We hope to see you again in the future. More

Nestled only 200m from Liverpool Street Station is this great pub with refurbished accommodation. The food is good and hearty. The room was exceptionally comfortable with modern luxuries. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a good old pub near Liverpool Street Station, but tucked away enough not to attract the crowds. Friendly staff, nice beers and a selection of wines. a good place to sit and wait for your train!

Went here with friends as it was close to the station and was genuinely surprised by the quality and comfort: - menu was based on local produce from the markets - upstairs eating area was quiet despite business outside and was a haven from the hustle and bustle of the city - there is a TV so it's great if... I am always surprised to find a good pub in London (perhaps I shouldn't be), but I was very impressed by this one. The beer was good (but expensive - £4.40 a pint - but this is London). The food was excellent and good value it you take advantage of the 4-7 offer. The pub also specialises in "plates" which... More

Loved the appetizers. Very English. Lotsa fish. Too yummy. The waitress was very awesome. We loved it. Tons of food. It felt to us (Americans) as very British....so we had a nice time there (it's above a pub as well - cool place).

Just had drinks here before dinner. The pub has a great feel about it. They have a good selection of craft beers and wines, they also serve some interested bar snacks, pork pies, scotch eggs, sausage rolls. Only disappointment was they do not serve any non-alcoholic beers - one of the group cannot drink for medical reasons. They are open... More

The Bull & The Hide is the second in The Cunning Plan Pub Company's chain of bars, restaurants and hotels in Central London. The Bull is the ultimate City pub. Seconds away from Liverpool Street Station, on the pedestrianised Devonshire Row linking Bishopsgate to Devonshire Square. The ground floor pub is bustling with drinkers every weekday lunch time and evening; we serve daily lunch specials from 12-6pm; expect home-made sausage rolls or our famous salt beef sandwich. The bar serves a large selection of craft beers, ales and ciders, highlighting a brewery of the week. Hidden away upstairs is The Hide at The Bull, an intimate 36 seat dining room and bar, offering a more refined lunch and dinner menu with delicate dishes such as scallops with lobster bisque and city classics like steak tartare with frites. Fine artwork and soft lighting make this a calm escape from the city crowds below, ideal for business lunches, private hire or romantic evening meals. Above The Hide are seven beautifully decorated boutique hotel rooms with their own private entrance. These are all individually designed, each named after elements of the sites rich history, which dates back to the 1500. On every floor there is a generous pantry to which guests are invited to help themselves.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
