Delicious traditional Middle Eastern cuisine. I have to admit that I do not know the difference between Lebanese and other sub-varietals of middle eastern cuisine but what I could tell you is that Al-Hamra is very very good. What a prior reviewer probably mistakens for rudeness, is not accurate at all. The waitstaff is formal...they are dressed impeccably and they are quite serious about the food. They are also kind, friendly and they will serve you with a smile. Specifically, the meat kabobs (chicken, beef and lamb) were succulent, the hummus was sublime, and the feta salad was perfect. Topping it off with a mint black tea and a plate full of baklava that had the perfect balance of sweetness and nuts. Al-Hamra is a winner and it is a reasonably priced alternative in a very expensive neighborhood.

We had dinner here last Saturday and the place was very busy. Most of the diners appeared to be Arabic which we take as a good sign. You get olives and salad to start with which we enjoyed an arak(or two). The Lebanese house red wine was also very good. They play Arabic music in the background which adds to the ambiance. We had hummus, kibbeh, fattoush, and chicken livers-all of which were excellent. The bread comes warm is delicious and they bring a second one during your meal. The only food that was less than perfect was the mekanek ( sausages) which were over-cooked and dry. The wait staff were all very nice but were very busy as the place was full. The bill for 2 people including Lebanese coffees and service was £160. When we told them it was my partner's birthday, they brought baklava and played 'happy birthday' over the PA system. A little boy came over from a neighbouring table and wished my partner 'happy birthday' which was very sweet and charming. We will of course be back.

Our hotel concierge recommended this place and we weren’t disappointed. This isn’t fine dining, but the food was very tasty and well presented and the staff were lovely too, offering advice about which dishes to select. The menu had a huge range of dishes. When we asked about the dish of the day, we were given some to taste to ensure we liked it (which we did). The mixed grill was fantastic and there was plenty of it. The hummus was, as you would expect from a Middle Eastern restaurant, amazing.

For anyone who wants a flavour of Lebanon in London, Al Hamra is the place to go. It has been here for so long, locals and visitors keep coming back. The service is unhurried and friendly and helpful if you need help with the menu. I have tried Lebanese cuisine in other restaurants in London and in Paris, and I always go back to Al Hamra. The meats are beautifully tender, spiced, and cooked to perfection. The humous and aubergine starter is smooth and tasty with olive oil and lemon juice sprinkled with powdered spices. The other mezzes are worth trying and the mixed grill or the shawarma and kawarma are amazing. The plate of baklava at the end is complimentary and should be washed down with mint tea. The atmosphere when full and heaving can be intoxicating with the smells of the food and shisha wafting in from outside. Close your eyes and you can be transported to Lebanon.

Unfortunately the food wasn't outstanding, I ordered the chicken shish and it was too salty. My friends also commented the same, they ordered lamb and chicken. Please the see picture I posted of the "salad". There was also a whole spring onion in there.. not quite sure why it was presented in this way.
When the bill came, it included not just a service charge but a cover charge also which we were not expecting.
The staff were friendly enough but the food wasn't worth the cost sorry.

First time experience for Lebanese food.
The staff are exceptionally helpful. Explaining every dish and suggesting delicacies that we would never have chosen if left to our own devices. All that we loved.
The Lebanese wine that was recommended was perfect.
The restaurant had a great fun atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor tables to eat.
The location is vibrant with quite a few other restaurants and wine bars close by, all adding to the atmosphere.
Magnificent. Cant wait to return.

Ate outside and had a wonderful meal, with a vast selection of authentic Lebanese dishes. All beautifully presented and prepared. It was probably the best meal that I have eaten all year. The restaurant is located in a romantic spot off Mayfair. The owner/waiter was a very respectful and gracious man, who offered us complementary desserts. There is something very unique and special about this restaurant. Well worth a visit.

We had a groupon deal to eat at this restaurant, had booked for a special occasion for a family, some had travelled a distance to be there. We booked for 5pm but the restaurant didn’t open until after 5.30 and we’re clearly not prepared.
We attempted to order mezze but options for groupon were restrictive, then we were told some things were not available, leaving choices so limited we said we were leaving but the waiter got the manager on the phone, they said we could at least have the potatoes, so we stayed. Big mistake. Mezze were brought out haphazardly, some were forgotten about so we had to remind them, we had to ask for cutlery, and nobody else was in the restaurant on a Saturday on Baker Street.
Was bizarre. As if they didn’t want anyone there.
Such a big disappointment and the staff did nothing to help the situation.
Please do not go here if you value any kind of service let alone good service. Are other Lebanese restaurants nearby.

First time I visit Al Hamra and I will definitely be back.
Great authentic Lebanese food.
Fairly priced
The restaurant was packed with customers from Middle East and that is a good sign of the quality they offer.

We had a wonderful family meal at Alhamra last night. 8 of us, including my 83 year old mother in law, enjoyed a lovely evening. Some of the group hadn’t eaten Lebanse before and they really enjoyed the new flavours. The staff could not have been more welcoming, helpful with our choices and attentive but we were also let enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace.
We tried Lebanese wine for the first time which was delicious.
We had a mix of starters like humours, tabouleh, falafels and pitta. Then we all had kebabs of different choices. The meal finished off with baklava’s. It was all fresh and very tasty. Highly recommended.

Not sure how to start this review …..
Having arrived on time this Saturday with my son , girlfriend and wife .
I researched the menu thinking that the food would be far better than my local Turkish restaurant, which I must say is first class .
Ordered a lamb kebab that arrived and tasted like a burnt shoe , with as much flavour as an old boot !!
My wife had sea bass and reported that it was dry and again tasteless , leaving most of it on the plate £27.00 worth of overcooked food
My son also had the kebab and even though he ate the full content , was not excited about the quality.
£211.00 I believe the bill and was I happy , obviously NOT. .
I highly recommend that this is not worth the high level of costs and if I’m honest McDonalds would have been a better option

A family visit to this restaurant was a real disappointment. The mixed starters were average, no better than your local Lebanese restaurant. The main - mixed grill, chicken shawarma and chicken wings - was dry and tasteless. We needed an usual amount of garlic and chilli dip to embellish the taste. While the Lebanese wine was good the overall experience was very expensive and extremely dissatisfying. Not worth it all.

Have dined in this area before so thought I would give Al Hamra a try.
Friendly welcome and shown to a table, drinks and food order quickly taken.
The food was excellent really enjoyed my selections. The staff seemed happy to congregate around the bar and not really interact with the customers. When dining on my own I prefer some interaction with the staff it helps add to the experience.
I know its just off Piccadilly and prices are sometimes a bit high, but charging 2 cover charges because of a single table occupancy will chase customers away.
Needles to say no tip left for the staff.

Visited here on a sunny weekday and we were the only diners in this spacious restaurant at Baker Street. Interior of the restaurant was very cold and we had to dine with our coats on. We went on a deal of 2 courses with a drink and started with a glass of wine each. For starters, we had the lamb sambousak and falafel which was of a good portion and tasty. Mains of shish taouk came with rice, chips, naan bread and salad was very good .Service was very friendly and pleasant from Walid and Sumaya. Will be back to try other dishes and will highly recommend to all our friends.

This restaurant was highly recommend by local foodies. We made a late dinner reservation and were blow away by both the service and meal. Truly one of the best dinners we’ve had in London, by far the best Lebanese we have ever enjoyed. We’ve had many of these same dishes at high end middle eastern restaurants in New York but every dish here was the absolute best of its kind we have ever enjoyed. We started with grilled aubergine, hummus topped with shredded lamb, stuffed vine leaves and the crispiest falafel. This was followed by the most tender boneless baby chicken, exquisite chicken and lamb Sharma all accompanied by flavorful sauces and freshly baked pita bread. We ate until we couldn’t fit another bite. Our waiter then very generously complimented our tea with an assortment of traditional desserts that were both delicious and impossible to resist. Can’t wait to recommend to our friends and family. We will be back for sure!
