There are many restaurants in and around central London that, at a 3rd of the price offer double the fine dining value. This may be the oldest restaurant in London unfortunately I would label it a dinosaur. Experience it as soon as you can because...More

Fantastic atmosphere that was let down by poor and inhospitable service. We have visited Rules before and very much enjoyed the historical setting and exceptional service. Nothing was too much for the waiters and service staff. On our return, however, we felt that waiters were...More

As you would expect in London's oldest restaurant, the feel is very old school, down to the beer served in Silver tankards. The food was very good. The potted shrimp to start was excellent, the beef for two nice, and the apple crumble one of...More

Description
Established by Thomas Rule in 1798, Rules is a Covent Garden institution and the oldest restaurant in London. Tuxedoed waiters glide around the formal interior, decorated with antique sketches, where plush banquettes offer a discreet retreat from the main dining room. The whole-hearted menu of traditional British food specialises in classic game cookery, oysters, pies and puddings, featuring game birds, roe deer and Belted Galloway beef fresh from the establishment's own High Pennines estate. The wine list is a French-led affair, or there are native draught beers served in silver tankards.
